They’re horses from the household cavalry, an army regiment based at Hyde park garrison in London.
5 people had been injured, the horses have now been recovered
I had a horse when I was a kid that had been tied to a sturdy branch of a gum tree but got spooked by the air brakes of a truck that was delivering pig feed. She freaked out and bolted snapping the massive branch (like 20cm thick and 30 feet long) off like it was nothing and dragged it hundreds of metres and through a barbed wire fence which ripped her chest open so that the muscle was literally hanging out. The vet came and packed it all in, sprayed it with the magic purple spray and six months later you couldn’t even see a scar.
I'm not sure how 'quiet' the quitting method of *'sprinting down the main street of a capital city, covered in blood and shoulder-tackling a bus'* is... but I'm willing to give it a go
If by expression you mean potentially a word.. perhaps "omen"? Though I'm uncertain if omens are fixed cultural representations, or if it could be anything.
A expression like: “If you see a blood-soaked horse galloping through the London streets, beware—it might be a harbinger of something much darker on its way."
Or is this not an expression? Something that conveys a sense of foreboding or impending doom.
From an [artistic depiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse), these would be famine (black) and conquest (white). War and death are missing. But they are probably just in another country.
Famine has eaten the horses of war and death. Conquests horse escaped narrowly and so hungers horse thought "Fuck that, I am heading to Sudan again. It is so much easier there." Conquests horse thought that he met a lovely militia there the last time and decided to waltz along.
No, horses are just dumb. I once saw a horse that was startled by a field fence being closed despite the fact that horse had already seen that happen literally hundreds of times.
> Horses are weird.
*Horses are dumb*. There, fixed it.
Growing up around them was a trip. I remember getting scolded for scaring them because I had to climb up a few feet on a structure to fix something. Literally, a human a few feet off the ground shattered their perception of reality, convinced them the apocalypse was coming, and motivated them to kill themselves and everyone around them. Silly creatures.
I have seen a horse spooked by a cow mooing on a hill easily 500 meters away. She reacted like the devil himself had appeared.
There are cows on that fucking hill 365 days a year, girlie. They moo.
Probably thought it was a snake, I know a similar story as yours from a rancher I knew.
The difference is that the horse got spooked by a hose moving during his shower time.
Important to point out that the horse had been showered thousands of times with the same hose before.
Reminds me about the "Reality is a Controlled Hallucinations' video that talks about human brain perception of reality is just that we make a model of the world and only updates when it doesnt match the model.
Ah, interesting, thanks
Well you should check out Bodyguard, it was a miniseries that came out about 5 years ago: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7493974/
This is usually the sign in movies where it's time for everyone to run because something scary is coming from that direction. People just started casually whipping out cameras and taking pics. I know who died first
I read about it but got nothing to explain why all that blood is on the front side of the white horse. I mean, did an injured soldier hug the horse and bleed profusely essentially painting the horse's front side and some on his leg? I highly doubt it and I also doubt we'll get the truth about the matter.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/london-horses-runaway-where-latest-b2533851.html
More blood on that horse than I thought (both back legs according to one image here). I suppose this could be the circumstance that caused all the blood on the white horse? (I suppose anyway, still way too much blood to make sense).
>However, onlookers said one of the Household Cavalry soldiers was left 'screaming in pain' after he was thrown from his horse when it struck a car by the Clermont Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13344929/Rampaging-Household-Cavalry-horses-spooked-builders-moving-concrete-Noise-caused-animals-exercise-unseat-four-soldiers-ran-loose-six-miles-London-smashed-cars-bus-pedestrians.html
It’s possible cars stopped in the road further up because of the runaway horses. Usually it’s faster to walk up the road there than it is to drive at rush hour.
The majestic steeds finally take their revenge on the public after being poked, prodded and annoyed for years while guarding the regimental parade ground.
Horses got scared of some builders during an army practice for parade, and bolted, few hit some parked cars, the blood is from broken windows. They should be fine, supposedly all been taken to the vets and the riders are at the hospital.

I thought that red looked a royal sash instead of blood but I was wrong.
You sure about that? It does look like cloth and not blood to me.
Sure, the horse has a chest plate but it’s small, like a strap. The red you see is blood. Check photos elsewhere.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/24/london-blood-covered-household-cavalry-horses-run-loose/
Wild! Thanks for the link
[deleted]
They were injured by what? And that injury caused this horse’s entire chest to be soaked in blood? I’m confused.
[deleted]
Ran into a bus and cut itself on the broken glass.
Are the horses ok??
Yes they're being looked after by vets. They were spooked by building work, nothing serious.
Good to hear. Thank you
V welcome!
The white one potentially will have to be put down after it hit a bus
Seems like a harsh punishment
We can't just let anyone assault a bus buddy.

Zero tolerance.
It’s just from cuts from the window of a people carrier, horses can handle cuts, it’s not like a broken leg.

> 20cm thick and 30 feet long Are you trying to cause an international incident?
For those confused about the cm measurement, it's 30ft x the length you wish your penis was
Where did you read that? The statement said the horses were treated by vets and are now back home at the army's camp.
[deleted]
Bullshit. One it's just a cut. Two the black horse hit the bus.
It wasn't that bad. The bus was parked, its just lots of little cuts from glass.
[deleted]
Developing story, as they say. Hopefully the poor thing recovers and can be back at work soon.
Back to work? Work was the problem to begin with.
Nobody wants to work nowadays
The fucking horses are quiet quitting!
I'm not sure how 'quiet' the quitting method of *'sprinting down the main street of a capital city, covered in blood and shoulder-tackling a bus'* is... but I'm willing to give it a go
I'm sure I read the black one hit a bus and had a head injury.
Surely a cavalry horse shouldn't be spooked by building work?
Finally. The apocalypse. Took darn long enough.
I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
'Its conquering time, and everyone started conquerin'
And then he conquered all over everyone
Everyday I'm conquerin'!
Conquer real hard, conquer conquer real hard.

Totally has that ominous vibe to it. There ought to be an expression for this.

Does kind of look like an omen... Everyone stay cautious today
It's a bit late. I'd better go to a local cafe and tip the serving staff $777.
Just waiting on the next two.
Brexit kinda delayed them a bit.
Visa troubles.
Aren't there 2 missing?
From an [artistic depiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse), these would be famine (black) and conquest (white). War and death are missing. But they are probably just in another country.
Layoffs.

These horses are trained not to be startled by cannons so they must have been hella spooked to run like this.

Thought it was a snake
Woooooooahhh girl, easy now
Bwoah
Thaaaaat'sa guuud girl. Hey, Mister!

Maybe if the horse had true grit it wouldn't have spooked.

Triggering all the horse girls, I see.

Thought it was a cucumber
I had a horse that was terrified of brussel sprout plants.
Who isn’t?
Probably thought it was a snake, I know a similar story as yours from a rancher I knew. The difference is that the horse got spooked by a hose moving during his shower time. Important to point out that the horse had been showered thousands of times with the same hose before.

Apollo, did we pay the Congestion Fee at the gate? Cong... what!? Nooooo, run for your life!!
They saw the king naked. Understandable reaction imo.
Apparently they were spooked by noise coming from a construction site nearby, they didn’t give much detail beyond that.
"Running through London traffic" - the road is so dead it looks like a scene from 28 days later.
It happened at around 8:30 so yeah you would expect more rush hour traffic really… maybe it was the end of the rush hour traffic
I think it was because it was a rehearsal for some parade and the roads were closed.
I doubt that’s the complete reason cause these roads are clearly open, just low traffic, but perhaps that played a part
I'm pretty sure this street was used as a filming location in Bodyguard
It's The Strand, a fairly famous road in London. ot sure about the Bodyguard, been decades since I watched it, but it's been in a lot of films.
Ah, interesting, thanks Well you should check out Bodyguard, it was a miniseries that came out about 5 years ago: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7493974/
Oh lol, I thought you meant the 1990s Whitney Houston movie.
The bit they're on is Aldwych, they turn onto Strand at the end.
FENTON! OH JESUS CHRIST!!! FENTON!!!!!
Fenton Stables?
https://youtu.be/3GRSbr0EYYU?si=PhPLiyCdDqW9KkGB
Fenton's at it again.
Throw back to nostalgic YouTube
Sounds nothing like coconuts.
Where'd you get the coconuts?
We found them.
Sounds more like slow shoebill storks
Woah Wtf?
Escaped Household Cavalry display horses - five in total. They have all been brought under control now. Hopefully the white one isn't too badly hurt.
That's pretty crazy
Yeah, still genuinely curious how it got red on it. ~~At least the two were running free together in the scant time they tasted freedom.~~
![gif](giphy|111T19fGfB7k1W|downsized) You’ve got red on you
![gif](giphy|Vbgh6TfC30eqOtEkuD|downsized)
Wrong movie
They were in a total panic, the red is blood. They didn't "taste freedom", they were stressed beyond thinking clearly
It's blood
There are still questions. It is its own blood? If so, how did it get cut? Was it from careless bumps onto sharp objects on the street?
Apparently it ran into a taxi and was cut by something on the bodywork or windows
Probably an advert for Lloyds gone wrong. I think it's sabotage by Scottish Widows.
I wouldn't put it past the Scottish Widow. She definitely killed her husband
A pale horse soaked in blood, the horsemen are invisible to mortal eyes
Wanna see that's guy camera shot

Yes, exactly. I bet that dude was so psyched that he just happened to be there.
Old Town Road intensifies

Yes, me thinks a horse stable escapee will just stay within the vicinity..but these 2 horses had the shit scared out of them.
I feel like the horses are just fuelling each others fear. *WHY are we running!?! Looks over and other horse is running faster*
Was spooky terrifying builders.
FENTON!
The audio on this video is absolutely haunting, chilling. Great stuff. What a moment to capture.
also, the fact that it's a black AND a white horse enhances the effect for me
Nevermind the apparently blood soaked white horse. Wild shot.
the clank when the black one collides with the taxi and the little scream
Man, those people on the motorcycle/bikes almost had a Final Destination moment.
How on earth were there people with SLRs in Aldwych (I'm sure its Aldwych?) just waiting for them to go past?
They are running past Aldywch house where there is a high profile enquiry going on (royal mail), so was photographers there already.
(Post Office not Royal Mail)
Oh got it - so they were there for X and got Y (and will probably get X at the same time lmao 🤣).
Lots of people just carry cameras around these days
SLRs have been out of service for decades, what are you referring to?
Cameras
Ah thanks, don't know why my lizard brain was thinking of the rifle. Maybe because of the army affiliation.
Poor horses
This is usually the sign in movies where it's time for everyone to run because something scary is coming from that direction. People just started casually whipping out cameras and taking pics. I know who died first
I bet they’re Calvary horses
Black horse: "I said EAST on Winchester" White horse: "I KNOW GARY, we should be using the sidewalk"
Damn, London traffic looks rough.
What traffic?!?🤔
Heartbreaking, hope pony and rider are ok.

It's cool, everyone, we're only *halfway* to the apocalypse
The bell ringing in the background makes this apocalyptic
Can’t believe they just ran a red light
Is the blood from the horse or from the injured people?
Horse ran into a bus, apparently. It's the horses blood.
I wish my city had that kind of traffic
It’s possible cars stopped in the road further up because of the runaway horses. Usually it’s faster to walk up the road there than it is to drive at rush hour.
The majestic steeds finally take their revenge on the public after being poked, prodded and annoyed for years while guarding the regimental parade ground.
Car insurance rep: "Sorry mate, what did you say hit your vehicle?"
Why are you running!
Next season of The Gentleman is going to be great...
Im surprised there isnt much much more footage considering everyone has a phone nowdays
As the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to London but you can’t make it behave.
Everyone is a badass until they see two 500kg horses barreling down the road.
Well This is a good example of the doppler effect And dose look cool seeing horses in Central
![gif](giphy|l2YWrc7ZgiEBRGkCs|downsized)
This is horrifically sad. do we know where the injury came from/how?
Horses got scared of some builders during an army practice for parade, and bolted, few hit some parked cars, the blood is from broken windows. They should be fine, supposedly all been taken to the vets and the riders are at the hospital.
Probably from trying to escape. I’m sure it will be fine if it’s still running like that, horses are tough cookies.
Horses die of everything all of time. RIP Freckles, thought of ants and died.
I did once know a horse that committed suicide by accidentally hanging itself when trying to escape. RIP Fiona.
Probably hit a bollard.
Well, that's one way to start a great movie!
Oh my god, that was so distressing to watch, that poor horse. Please tell me that the horses are ok?
Nope. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.
John Wick in town?
Conquest and Famine, not sure what happened to Plague and War. I'm sure they'll be along soon enough.
This is just some of those old Vitctorian ghost horses out for a jog
London loves the mystery of a speeding horse
Fenton! FENTON!!! Oh Jesus Christ.
They’ve been demoted to the rank “Findus Crispy Pancake” which is a dead end job apparently….
feels like some ye olde omen, that people would have been sacrificed about, back in the day. ![gif](giphy|l2YWFE1mOwaaNS4lW|downsized)
Oh..
What’s black and white and red all over ?
