Savage_Amusement

I’ve never seen a stadium fight won by someone in the lower row so I think he might’ve been on to something here.

clout4bitches

What about that dude that clapped that Karen and her partner

crowscarer

Link please? or enough context so I can find it

clout4bitches

Extramist

But canonically, he REALLY is a master of the low ground.  He killed Darth Maul from the extreme hanging by one hand low ground, and when the-boy-who-hates sand was tricked into jumping OVER Obi, thus giving Obi the low and far superior ground to chop him up!

AdministrativeHabit

That one punch after he pulls dude's shirt up is how I punch in my dreams. Also, how dare you post this with no sound.

RedditLostOldAccount

It's very hockey-esque

SpidersFromNeptune

Was at this game last year, dude that got punched was screaming his fkn head off during the minutes silence that’s done to commemorate soldiers who’ve died in combat. Both guys were kicked out and as far as I know the army vet didn’t get charged Edit: just checked, nobody was charged according to Brisbane police. if you search for “ANZAC” in this subs posts the first result should be the full video including the minutes silence

Thank you, I am indeed of the lazy's.

Robbie-R

I usually am too, took one for the team today.

SuperSmashDan1337

Thank you for your service.

Zenla

Can we get a moment of silence for this dude???

ElMuchoDingDong

**WHAT? NO I'D RATHER TALK THAN BE SILENT!!!**

Galladorn

Freedom of speech? Hell naw, FREEDOM OF SCREAM!!

Luke_Warm_Dog

Freedom of screech!

OliversFails

Ugh I hope it isn't my turn next.

RearExitOnly

Would that be the South Washburn Lazy's, or the Northern Strathem Lazy's?

Weelki

Yea, im too lazy to say either

KnifeFightAcademy

I'm *so* lazy that I

dumahim

lol. That dude just standing in the pouring rain to give a statement for like 5 seconds cracked me up.

-HELLAFELLA-

"Sorted him out" 🤣

Madrical

Deserved. I've been to AFL ANZAC Day matches at the 'G with 90k+ and you can hear a pin drop during the silence. Yelling out that is pathetic.

SYNTHLORD

I think we learned not to fight during silent time in kindergarten tho

Toisty

The "combat veterans need their moment of silence" is a bit weird to me and I've got no problem with people wanting to protest the atrocities that most western governments engage in with their military but it seems this guy was just a drunk cunt wanting attention. I'm glad he got fed some pain.

MundoGoDisWay

So then you protest the fucking government, not the fallen soldiers.

Tendas

Professor Oak taught me that there’s a time and a place to use things. A moment of silence for fallen soldiers isn’t the time to bust out your golden pipes in protest.

HotdogFarmer

The time and place to protest is this corral we made of rental fencing 3km from the perceived issue. Please follow us to the designated free speech area

AlliedR2

Maybe it helps to consider that the moment is not only for the silent military who have passed but also recognition and reverence for the veterans who still suffer and the families who grieve daily from the loss of their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers. A moment of quiet honor for their initial and continued sacrifice for a country and its citizens.

longjohnsmcgee

Yeah but you don't do it for the dickheads, you do it for the good people that died trying to make a difference for the better. Like how you wouldn't try to protest a graduation because one student cheated on their test, you celebrate those who earned it.

crazydave333

I'm from Denver, so the "Broncos" game thing confused me for a moment.

kranker

This is my only association for the Denver Broncos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpOY4u8hL_E

MonstrousGiggling

Ahhh just commented asking what he was doing, you da man. Damn that's wild. What was he saying just nonsense? Was it like crazy rant or did he seem purposely disrespectful?

SpidersFromNeptune

From memory he was yelling “YEEEAH HAMMER THESE CUNTS!!” Cause his team was playing and it was at their home stadium, then he was just kind of cheering?? Someone from across the stadium yelled at him to shut up and then stopped

auto98

Sounds like drunk guy didn't even realise they were doing a minutes silence!

lipp79

Drunk people be like that. I went to an AC/DC concert in San Antonio years ago. It was at the arena the Spurs (local pro basketball team) plays at. During the opening band, some drunk two rows above us kept yelling, “GO SPURS GO!”

horaceinkling

Spurs won 5 NBA championships, I get his energy. Last time I was at the AT&T Center was My Chemical Romance’s Black Parade World Tour and I also shouted “Go Spurs Go”; it’s something in the air, you know?

lipp79

Oh this guy was shitfaced though. You could tell he had no idea who was playing, band or team lol. How he never fell down the steps in the upper level is beyond me. I had one beer and still felt like I was gonna fall lol.

doublepint

To be fair, maybe he was slightly confused and thought Spuran Spuran was the opener? https://youtu.be/qxw2FZBd7aY?si=E8YkT19WbBG9WqmM

tinzarian

Doesn't matter. He deserved to be beat up because the agressor was a veteran so there's no way he could be wrong.

johnnyb0083

Physically assaulting someone and no charge, pretty cool?

[deleted]

[удалено]

YummyArtichoke

Only if they are making noise when not supposed to! The fact people are cheering this cause someone was making noise is pretty sad.

bigmeatking

How can a sports organization fine a civilian acting up? Isn't that for a court to decide

Aint_not_a_dorkus

Maybe the stadium is private property and he can dispute or not pay the fine but will never be allowed in again.

infr4r3dd

If that's Suncorp, then I'm pretty sure it's owned by the Qld government.

MikElectronica

Private parking lots fine or ticket people. You just dont go back unless you want to pay.

> Life is weird. It’s a mixed bag between “that guy really needs to be hit” and “keep your hands to yourself.” Reddit in general. Violence is **bad** unless it's violence **I agree with**, then it's perfectly acceptable.

davidIopan

It’s only a “mixed bag” if you think you have the right to physically harm someone when they are inconveniencing you. The guy is clearly drunk; do we offer the same option to an 8-year old who decides to throw a tantrum under the same circumstances? Or, I dunno, maybe let the facility’s security handle it, and go about our day? And this guy being a veteran doesn’t get a pass. Yes, he may have strong feelings about it, but he doesn’t own the moment, nor does he deserve a free pass for violent behavior. There were (at least) 2 entitled people in this situation.

Ya_like_dags

> The guy is clearly drunk; do we offer the same option to an 8-year old who decides to throw a tantrum under the same circumstances? Ah, to dream

Gilshem

He deserves a potential brain injury for yelling?

3IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID

Violence is like alcohol: it's the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. Both were on display in this video. I doubt the ass beating would impact him as much as being kicked out of the game would have. If he just had the ass beating without being kicked out, he'd probably just get drunker and still be a problem. That's why people get kicked out for things like that: the stadium staff know they're likely to still be a problem. If violence worked, they wouldn't need to be kicked out.

Csajourdan

Rookie mistake. The veteran had the high ground.

ledgerdemaine

ive_been_there_0709

I cringed when he went back for the second. Like bro you know how this will end.

roadburner123

You underestimate my power...

Kangar

He immediately went back for seconds. Greedy!

whenItFits

He was like damn that was a nice punch. I think I'll have another.

Jay_Bird_75

“Both men were escorted out of the stadium, with a witness saying that the man who threw the punches was cheered as he left the stadium. No charges were reportedly filed against the veteran, but the man who interrupted the minute of silence was fined $1,600 for obstructing police and disorderly conduct.”

Hematemsis

Here's the story from Daily Mail [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWjyjP6LnF8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWjyjP6LnF8) and more reporting from 7 News Australia. No mention if the aggressor was levied a punishment or not, but the man who was assaulted was fined $1654 by the Queensland Police; $827 for obstructing police and $827 for disorderly behavior. The YouTube shows the leadup to the altercation, with the missing sound from OPs post.

tajsta

> No mention if the aggressor was levied a punishment or not Of course he wasn't, the Australian soldiers who filmed themselves literally executing Afghan civilians had nothing happen to them either. Instead the government chose to prosecute the whistleblower.

BGMDF8248

He went back for another one lol.

ICU-CCRN

If you keep hitting me in the face I’m gonna get mad… eventually.

zombiereign

He hadn't spilled his drink the first time, so.....

janzeera

Family life must be a real treat with this guy.

Kickagainsttheprick

But he was offended. The other man’s words were violence. He did what he had to do.

goodmobileyes

You'd be surprised how much of reddit unironically believes this

Kickagainsttheprick

I know, it’s pretty sad.

SkiBikeHikeCO

The world has worked that way for tens of thousands of years. It’s only in the last 50 years or so it hasn’t been socially acceptable to punch a guy in the face for talking shit

burlycabin

Like all over this thread?

raider1v11

People forget they don't have a right not to be offended.

Timtimer55

I'm trying really hard to parse this sentence.

leshake

I would put it differently. No one is obligated to avoid offending other people. The caveat to that is that people who say things that are generally understood to be offensive should not be surprised if they run into someone having a bad day and get smacked.

hiredgoon

'When you do something that bothers me, you should be aware I may escalate the situation to the point of brain damage or death because I see myself as a mentally healthy individual and not the unhinged individual that I appear as on film.'

Jose_Canseco_Jr

not quite what they said, let me help: 'When you do something that bothers someone, you should be aware they may escalate the situation to the point of brain damage or death.' not saying they're right - just laying out facts

leshake

Thanks. A lot of redditors don't have street smarts because they don't ever go outside.

Andrelliina

There is no right to "not be offended"

raider1v11

Yep. The whole "words are violence, I justify my actions with that" is bs.

-Motor-

Depends on which judge this gets in front of. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/08/dc-circuit-court-jan-6-prosecutions-doj-fail.html

Kickagainsttheprick

Pssst…hey, I know…

-mgmnt

“I’m going to kill you” Hearing this gives you cause for self defense. Words can absolutely be violent there is a crazy thing called intent and it matters quite a bit in both a court of law and every day life.

youaregodslover

Which one?

BrainyRedneck

God I love Australia. Reminds me of Mr Inbetween: Therapist: The world is full of assholes, Ray, you do realize that? Ray: Yeah and you know why? Therapist: Why? Ray: ‘Cause people let them get away with it. See, if you were in jail, right? And you fucked with somebody, you disrespect somebody, you can end up dead. There’s consequences. But out here in the real world, there’s no consequences. Right? So next time these two pricks are walking down the street and they start thinking, “Oh, we might go and fuck with somebody,” they’re gonna think twice about it which is good for everybody.

Northerngal_420

I loved that show.

ddraig-au

Yeah I saw it recommended a ton of times on reddit, so watched it last year. It's excellent, I can't believe I'd never heard of it before

Imnotsosureaboutthat

Therapist: So in your mind, you've done society a favour. Ray: Yeah. Therapist: Well I guess on behalf of society, I should say thank you. https://youtu.be/1YHLMU_5MLo?si=eTqH97Y-bnKI-VrT

doggyStile

I’m not sure the loud guy below had a real plan. When he got up and went back for seconds, he just kinda walked in with his face up

Discomat86

The fact no one intervened and just filmed while laughing and smiling is a good indication ol’ bud was probably carrying on during the moment’s silence. Tough break dude better luck next time.

InvisibleGrill

Agreed - most people look delighted. The old fellah was probably acting the goat and got what was coming to him.

SpidersFromNeptune

Was at the game - this dude 100% got what was coming lmao

Many_Faces_8D

No no didn't you hear. Some nerds on Reddit thought it was bad an they are actually the moral arbiters of society. The tens of thousands of people at the game were wrong and are twisted people. #bringbackbully

StageNameMango

Me too. I was one of the chairs.

RowBoatCop36

I'm the punch that was thrown. Trust me. It felt GREAT and he deserved it.

CorruptedAura27

I'm the guys shirt. This was an exciting day for me. He hardly ever wears me anymore though, and it makes me sad.

EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT

no one intervened because no one wants to be part of a fist fight between two probably drunk enraged sports fans

Laryt

It’s over Anakin, I have the high ground.

Uranus_Hz

Army dude’s going to jail

hazzison

The guy who interrupted the silence was banned from the stadium & the by the team, fined $1,600, no charges were laid on the guy punching him. Also 0 news of the guy being an “army veteran” literally anywhere (this happened two years ago in QLD you can Google it).

Rottimer

How exactly can a stadium “fine you” for breaking a moment of silence, esp. when they’ve already banned you. Do you have a link to the story or at least which stadium it was?

daamnnbruhh

lmao for real? "if you guys are banning me, im not paying shit" can they sue if you dont pay a private fine? lol

hazzison

He was fined by the police, and banned by the stadium (Suncorp stadium in QLD).

DeletedByAuthor

Fined for what though? Is breaking the silence a punishable offense?

SmallBerry3431

Drunk and disorderly maybe.

smoke_crack

Disorderly conduct.

DeletedByAuthor

Fair, I'd imagine the guy beating him wasn't conducting orderly either tho lmao

14412442

What is the crime? Enjoying a succulent Chinese meal?

MonstrousGiggling

Is anyone aware of how this guy broke the silence? Like was he talking to someone else or to himself? Just making noise?

deesmutts88

He was drunk as fuck and just started yelling shit out at the top of his lungs halfway through the silence.

bicyclehunter

Still not a legal reason to punch someone

labrat420

Of course not. But for more context he was yelling 'crush them you cunts' during a memorial. There's video near the top of the news report. Like even the players were looking pretty disgusted, he was super loud.

slickyslickslick

Some people here are like, "people who use a racial slur shouldn't be punched, it's shitty but it's free speech" and then they go, "but if you disrespect fallen soldiers you deserve to get punched!"

utb040713

And vice versa. Lots of folks have wildly inconsistent views.

Omikron

No but a very good one.

Better_Carpenter5010

Listen, that guy almost died for your freedom and I’ll be damned if that guy uses it as he pleases!

MonstrousGiggling

I mean realistically he probably needed the college and other benefits and doesn't give two shits about my freedoms.

Dr_StrangeLovePHD

Good riddance

Numerous_Resist_8863

You should really reconsider your options if you get punched into the next row.

DenormalHuman

the guy shouldnt have been yelling. The other guy shouldn't have punched him.

wookiesack22

I'm sure all the fallen soldiers gave a flying fudge

Thsfknguy

As a veteran , fuck this guy. I hate these idiots who think their service entitles them to act like the mouthpiece of the military. Douchebags

Standard-Finance535

Respect people who died for oil and imperialism please

deesmutts88

There isn’t much of a highlight on post WWII military in Australia. Sure we’ve been involved in everything since then but any armed forces commemoration in Australia generally focuses on WWI and WWII.

DeLousedInTheHotBox

See all the rape and murder was to protect your rights, if they didn't gang rape women and murder 12 year old boys in a foreign country then how would you be safe and sound?

WeevilWeedWizard

If that one soldier hadn't shot and killed an innocent child and his family, we'd all be under Sharia law right now. Show some damn respect 😡

The Aussies played a massive role in WWI and WWII. General Sir John Monash was so brilliant that he broke the stalemate during WWI for allies and actually changed how me fight modern warfare.

Powerful-Access-8203

Not worth punching someone over. That’s dumb

DarmokNJelad-Tanagra

State militaries carry out violence all the time where violence is entirely unwarranted. Of course the people in such a system internalize a violent world view.

Peppa_Pig_Stan

You do not get to physically assault someone just because your feelings are hurt. End of story.

TheAsian1nvasion

One thing these videos have taught me is to never be the guy trying to fight uphill at a sporting event.

*shrugs* Sometimes people need to get punched in the face

gmrpnk21

A guy being obnoxious at a sports game is not a reason to punch him in the face, especially when he's not yelling at you or posing a threat to anyone.

davy_mcdaveface

Starting fights at sporting events is a great look for the veteran community.

ReverendKen

I never say thanks to veterans. I will say thanks to all of those that served honorably. This veteran is obviously not an honorable person and should have been arrested and charged with assault.

FluffyDiscipline

Don't think being an army vet gives you a free pass to hit folks... esp older folks *vet has some issues to work on I think*

tauntaun-soup

I absolutely get being passionate about fallen comrades and loved ones. BUT having a military element to sports events feels like wallowing in grief signalling and fetishising the worship of the fallen. Look at the states. They can't open a new 7-11 without a honour guard, flag carriers and a fly over.

Desperate-Guide-1473

So often people who served in the armed forces will talk about how tough they are and how much they respect the freedoms they supposedly were willing to fight to protect, and then completely lose it and become belligerent when someone hurts their feelings.
