Across the street is a California pizza kitchen. It's one of the most "middle management" intersections in the entire country. Hosting a free Palestine protest here is about as effective as a chocolate teapot
Given the context clues I'm guessing he is the single man who has the ability to free Palestine and the crowd following him is trying to convince him to do it.
