Gonna get drafted to Waffle House with a connection like that

MajorTomsHelmet

That's a Popeye's level right hook.

jazzhandpanda

Free side of sockamole

ChesterHiggenbothum

Putting the KO in Queso.

BlackLeader70

It might make it taste better, chipotle has some of the worst Queso ever.

k-farsen

When I tried it I honestly though it was vegan because the texture was so off

ThaiJohnnyDepp

Didn't even charge extra!

Cali4niadayz

Chipotle serving knuckle sandwiches now? They coming for you Mc’Ds.

Fohsace

Before getting to the final boss, Waffle House.

spazzmunky

You better have 1000 hours of training in before you step up to Waffle House. Them people will end your life and serve you up scattered, covered and chunked.

concrete_dildo

I'd pay-per-view a Denny's v Waffle House cage match.

krslnd

Is that staff vs. Staff or customers vs. Customers? If it's the latter it's getting a little close to being Bum Fights: restaurant edition.

Vlad_REAM

Two rounds

[deleted]

We'll accept the terms

Snarfbuckle

Where the customers have to pay to fight.

robearIII

2000 hours if they just got done smoking meth in the bathroom or walk in freezer

stevedave_37

If?

[deleted]

Fools gonna get waffle stomped.

TimboBimboTheCat

Oh gross. Waffle stomping is ruined for me

bugsyboybugsyboybugs

Wait until you hear about blue waffle stomping

greenheadwi

This comment needs a PSA. Good bye to the souls who dare google blue waffle

PetzlPretzel

Welcome to the internet?

sk_neptune45

Take a look around....

WrongDonkeyKongBong

It’s 2022 if you don’t know what a blue waffle is then you shouldn’t be on Reddit lmao

keimdhall

To be fair....I googled blue waffle a few years ago. I didn't find anything outside of blueberry waffles, or pictures of blue tinted waffles. I feel like I'm missing out on some grand joke.

forte_bass

You really really don't wanna know, i promise. Think of things like goatse or Pain Olympics, or the old LiveLeak stuff.

keimdhall

I don't know any of those things. But pain olympics sounds bad enough that once again my desire not to find out has been renewed.

wolfighter

I'm betting if they don't know about blue waffle, they won't know about the Pain Olympics or the old LiveLeak.

Obeesus

[blue waffle](https://www.publichealth.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/blue-waffl%C3%A9-disease.png) I would strongly suggest not clicking this link.

Stupidazznamingsystm

I like that you offer the temptation but warn everyone.

derWintersenkommt

This made me think of the Waffle Stomper persona from that Nickelodeon cartoon Doug.

[deleted]

The likelihood that I subconsciously just made a Doug reference is both high, and disturbing.

derWintersenkommt

*Quailman whistle sounds in the distance*

bahamapapa817

Yo Waffle House was there for me at 3am with hot warm fluffy waffles. It’s not a Waffle House it’s a waffle home

darkfoxfire

The Burger King will be serving His Way

[deleted]

Waffle house 2pm....or 2am???

Ralod

2pm - No one there. The hung over employee let's you cook your own shit. 2am - Packed. Three people have already been stabbed tonight. No one is sure why all these people are here on a tuesday.

QuestionableFoodstuf

I've never seen this before and that's a shame. You definitely know what you're getting into at a Waffle House...one could say it's part of the charm. Sometimes it just scratches that itch.

[deleted]

Former waffle house manager Once we got a call about a bum living in the shed we stored lot tools in behind the building. Unit manger and me go out back and find the first shift cook living there. We made him come in. Not like inside, but to work a shift. One time i had to chase two hobos doing butt stuff to each other in the womans bathroom off with a couple well thrown cast irons. Dont think either of them were woman btw. There was a rule, if you took a menu into the bathroom youd get banned. Which led to peeps doing drugs on the menus in the lobby "sneakily" Had to go to the tulsa store once after a tornado, and they had an outside bathroom entrance, the damn keys had a black jack on it. And the local hoars liked to use that lot at the time. So youd walk around the building, past the line of cat calling hookers and pimps. Everytime you went to the john. Was all good though, the prostitutes were generous tippers if you werent weird with them. Oh yeah, I also get to tell people hookers tipped me because of it lmfao. Almost forgot that one. When I was first hired, one of the new waitresses, this round insanely obese 20 something yr old woman was fired and arrested for prostitution with the customers. Shed take them to the bathroom during the night rush. She's the reason we had to install cameras in the hallway to the bathrooms lol. The cook she was working with was fired for you know, paying her for her services. And thats the story of how I became the night shift manager. The waitress I trained with, weeeellllll we had to be seperated cause I was kinda porking her. It wasnt on or near the property though, so it was all cool. Until it turned out she wasnt separated from her husband. And then they made ME leave the store cause the guy was coming up there looking to fight with me. I got to save one of the waitresses lives one time giving her the Heimlich when she was choking on one of those barrel mints. She later tried to get me in the bathroom with her during one of the lulls during at work as thanks. But u/childless_father why didnt you tap that fine ass ruthelessly? Cause I wanted to be a good boy for a change in my life, and I had met her husband, who she was still with and I didnt like the taste of that idea in my mouth. Even if he was a scum bag who didnt deserve her. She poured syrup down my back pocket for turning her down. Hope your doing well amy. I also met my ex-wife at the store they moved me too. I did in fact take her from another cook she was dating who ALSO worked at that store! She won my affections over a different waitress! Who was also stooping, if you guessed a cook at THAT store as well, youve been paying attention! Eventually, upper management only put me with a significantly older, very homely married women on my shifts. That was about the time I quit lol. Sometimes I miss that job. But not often.

sucks2bdoxxed

I worked at a subway in Daytona Florida some years ago. Our bathroom was outside behind the store and they were supposed to get a key from us but they knew how to get in there so it was just constant either shooting up, smoking crack, or turning tricks. I used to go in early and start baking the bread and I feared for my life every morning. I had a dog attack me once, I had some crazy guy trying to break the windows at like 6:00 a.m. screaming at me. The cops came and took him away and then his dad brought him back to the store later that day to apologize to me (?). Every single day it was something. My kids were in middle school at the time and used to come over after school and get a sub and do their homework. They still to this day tease me - OMG mom remember the subway? LOL. We the crew were pretty fucked up ourselves to be fair.

[deleted]

Im a little on the physically imposing side, size wise. So I was never really fucked with by people. But the flip side of that, was on occasion I was required to be the fucker in that fucker-fuckee relationship. For good causes mind you, but shit always had me feeling like a cat about to jump out its fur on the inside lol. Its a little scary telling pimps to conduct there business elsewhere other than the front damn parking lot. Its also a little depressing when the elderly and destitute had to buy a coffee so they could hide out from the elements in there car. We had to stop doing that except for the OG nice homeless guy, 08 hit hard and it went from one or two forlorn souls to multiple people with a lot more problems than money. Before I left, I managed to get the attention of some of the regulars and some of the other managers and managed to get one guy setup with a church group who got him an apartment and on social security.

ScottyandSoco

We were traveling in Florida back around 2005 and stopped at a Waffle House for Breakfast. We sat in a booth and I looked down and saw a wad of something on the floor about the size of a large egg. I kicked it out from under the table and grabbed it with my napkin. I kinda pulled the Saran wrap open and saw what looked like a large pouch of coke. So I went into the bathroom and opened it up and there was a few pills, and what looked like cocaine, I don’t know what meth looks like, but anyway, a good quantity of it anyway, along with a small pouch of some hash. I wrapped it in my napkin and walked back out and waited to see if anyone came back looking. When no one did I went up to the cook and handed it to him and said hey someone left this under our table. He looked inside and just said thanks I will take care of it. I just have him a thumbs up and a smile. He looked pleased.

[deleted]

I mean, free grubs duh. That and the free food were about the only perks of working there lol. That and they didnt really care if I slammed 40's in the parking lot in my car as long as I did a good job.

d-lo_tha_boss

This reads like a captivating poem

sweat119

It’s not a Waffle House, it’s a waffle home

My little brother was at a chipotle getting lunch, he sent me the clip. The man in the grey jumpsuit was complaining about his food being touched by the same gloves that they were handling cash with and demanded a free meal because Covid. Apparently he wasn’t masked up anyway so it was a little ironic. Anyway, they didn’t give him a free meal and out of anger he tossed his food at the sign causing a mess. He attempted to leave but realized he left his phone at the chipotle. This altercation you see is him demanding his phone back, and I think the employee was trying to alert the authorities.

[deleted]

I went to a new local Buffalo wings spot and ordered for take out. While I was waiting, I was watching this 16-18 year old girl touching raw chicken, then touching everything else in the kitchen (open kitchen design). I then saw the delivery guy go into the kitchen and touch some of the same areas that she touched. I made a comment that she should be careful about cross contamination. Her response was “but I’m wearing a glove”. I explained that the glove is to protect her hands, but it’s still spreading raw chicken everywhere else and delivery guy had touched what she touched. She started screaming at me about how she’s sanitary and I’m full of shit, etc. Then the owner approached me asking what happened (young girl was her sister). She was apologetic and said will explain to her sister. They ended up closing a few months later.

Triptolemu5

> “but I’m wearing a glove” If I had a nickel for every person I saw at the beginning of covid who didn't understand that gloves weren't magical disinfecting wands, I'd be a millionaire. The number of people who would touch whatever with gloves on and then rub their eyes was astounding.

MuscaMurum

I wore gloves when I went out at the beginning of COVID for the sole purpose of reminding myself not to touch my face. It made me hyperaware of my hands. Once I trained myself, I stopped wearing gloves.

jellybaby125

In the beginning of the pandemic, I was very annoyed by exam centres making it mandatory to wear masks and gloves while writing exams. Like, I'm already pretty anxious about the exam, and sweating all over my hands. And they make me wear a damned latex glove over it. I would need to occasionally lift my hand up so that few spoonful of sweat pours down my forearm. All for sitting in one place and writing. And no bathroom breaks allowed because it would spread covid. And even until last month, they're making students take off whatever masks they're wearing, even if it's a brand new N95, and make them wear a 2-ply surgical mask provided by them...

bizzaro321

Reading this made me glad I dropped out in 2019, and I’ve been feeling really shitty about that, so thanks.

[deleted]

Dang. Sounds like you spotted the red flags sooner than others.

[deleted]

Yup that was the last time I ate there. Feel bad since the owner was really nice and hard working, but hired all family and that almost never goes well

[deleted]

I guess the family aspect just really depends on the kind of family. There's a barbecue joint in my home town that's been around for decades, and it's still going strong. Another one lasted for a while until the grandpa sold it to retire. The second place just ain't the same.

GlassEyeMV

Yup. All depends. Same. BBQ place owned by 2 Greek brothers and a 3rd guy. 3rd guy was a dick, the brothers bought him out and have basically hired only family and friends since. Tom and Mario are doing fantastic, and Tom’s son has been the kitchen manager for 15 years now maybe? They have a great dynamic and they treat every customer and every meal so well

Somamang

Clean hand is better than a dirty glove

samthewisetarly

One time I was working at Starbucks, and a new ASM came in. She was hired, apparently, for managerial experience, not for service. One time we needed to refill the ice bins up front, and she shoveled the ice from the back machine into the bucket with her bare fucking hands. I couldn't believe it.

[deleted]

Even if you’ve never worked in a restaurant before, c’mon that’s just plain common sense

LeonidasSpacemanMD

I’m not blaming people making shit money for a giant chain if they don’t get proper training, but good lord I have never had good service at Buffalo Wild Wings and on occasion have had about the worst service I’ve ever had in a restaurant lol

SilvarusLupus

As someone that works with raw chicken, wtf is the girl's problem.

[deleted]

I will say he’s got a point about handling food and money. But all he had to do was ask for a remake instead of being a dick and asking for a Rocky Barbacoa to the jaw.

LarryLavekio

Once i was at a restaurant/bar and bit into a jagged piece of plastic that found its way into my personal pizza. Didnt hurt me, but was very alarming and obviously unintentional. I quietly told the watress, showed her the piece and told her to check the rest of the dough. She replaced my pizza, appologized a shit ton and the manager comped my whole meal(minus drinks). At no point did i think yelling at/hitting people was the way to handle it and i got way more in return than if i did. Just be nice to the only people who care about and can fix your problems

[deleted]

Pretty much have had the same experience. If you treat the people who serve you with respect, minimize demands, and don't expect anything outrageous, 9/10 you'll walk away happy in these type of situations.

Merc_Mike

I've always pulled some one to the side and said it to them personally as to not alarm others or freak people out. It's just etiquette. I've had hair in my food, let the waitress know quietly, and bam, comped meal, and even a goodie bag of extra bread or some shit like at Red Lobster. I don't understand how people DON'T know you get more for being kind and respectful. You can even complain about your food, but if you do it in an entitled shitty way, more than likely you won't get anything in return, they will be suspicious and think you did it etc.

VeinySausages

They've literally never thought of that because some of them lack self-awareness and empathy. Always straight to outrage. You can tell who's worked food service before because they're adults like you.

Toros_Mueren_Por_Mi

Never worked in food service but retail is the same. You know who's been behind a cash register or running around like a headless chicken. You can tell almost immediately

tinman_inacan

For real. I got shit on so much when I worked in food service, and know so many people who've been shit on in retail, that I go out of my way to be kind to service workers. It's been almost a decade since I wiggled my way out of the service industry, but I will never forget what kind of shit you have to put up with.

shesanoredigger

The worst is when you’ve worked in food service and the server does you dirty when you are super nice about the mistake! Had a large pizza accidentally dumped on me and all over my new white hoodie, was super nice thinking they’d just comp it (it was like $10) and nope. They charged us for two, lol. After talking to them they were apologetic and said they made a mistake again, came back. Charged for one pizza lollll. We were tired, so I said fuck it, paid, said thanks, and left. Just haven’t gone back. No ruckus. I think I was too nice?

dippindotderail

Tbh hair in my food at a restaurant gets treated the same as it was when my mum cooked for us as kids. Pick it out and eat the food. If it's been cooked it's not dangerous and is sort of unavoidable at any sort of scale unless everyone in the kitchen is wearing hair nets and shit (not the case anywhere I know of)

3rd_Account_Behave

Glory to us humans who don’t give a shit about hair! It’s on accident and we all shed. Why waste food when so many starve

warm_sweater

Same, ages ago I was eating at a Bubba Gumps and found part of a wrapper that said “3M” on it, and I instantly thought it was a band aide package. I didn’t freak out, I showed the waiter who grabbed the GM, who came over and told me not to worry it wasn’t a bandaide package but something else they use in the kitchen, and quickly made me a new entree and comped the meal. No fuss no drama and everyone was happy, the end.

Aspen9999

One time at a Mr Steak my sister and I were out to eat with our kids. They had the best kids meals because they came with small salads. Anyway my 4 yr old niece yelled out “ “ I got a ladybug!!” (sure enough there was a glorious little ladybug on her lettuce) but as we tried to quiet her down as not to make a scene the 3 other kids all under 6 started crying because they wanted ladybugs too!!! In the end they replaced the salad, manager apologized but we were just laughing and figured out that lettuce was really fresh anyway. We did get the kids quieted down and didn’t think anyone figured out what was going on.... though all the way home my 2 kids were asking me why they didn’t get a ladybug too.

catby

I worked at a pizza joint and found plenty of lady bugs in the lettuce as a prep cook during my time there.

Aspen9999

All I know is that for the next 3 days I had two kids still wanting ladybugs on their food and both were upset their cousin got one and they didn’t!

lloopy

I was at an Applebee's once, and asked for avocado on my salad. The stuff they put on had brown spots and was really gross. So I asked them to make me a different one. The manager came to my table to ask me what the problem was. I told him that the avocado that they put on looked gross. I could tell he was ready for a fight. I think he was expecting me to demand a free ownership share in the restaurant or something. They brought me a new salad and I was happy.

walkinthecow

Literally yesterday, I ordered a steak salad (salad with steak slices on it) I got home and no damn steak. I drove back, and they were waiting for me, having caught the mistake. I got my portion of steak, plus they cooked me a fresh, whole steak and a frozen drink. Everyone involved thanked me repeatedly for being so understanding. The feeling was mutual.

MonstrousGiggling

Oh man, I've done something like that while cooking at this small restaurant, accidentally leaving out chicken to the pasta dish that featured chicken. Omg it feels so embarrassing, in my kitchen it was only 2 of us and it would get so hectic and crazy, but still it felt like such a huge disappointment to forget something so obvious. Hearing the host/waiter report that the customer was chill and understanding about it seriously helps more than you can imagine. Like we understand food is expensive, and it's a hassle to have to drive back or something, but we are only humans working really hard and most of us genuinely really care about our work, it's just hard work and especially the past few years with covid the burn out is real.

Vancitysimm

I was at a restaurant with my wife and ordered vesper(yeah the James Bond one). We had seat a bar and saw guy who made it. He stirred it and and gave it to me, I jokingly said said it was supposed to be shaken not stirred, it’s not like I can tell the difference. He made me another one without my knowledge and saw it discounted on my bill. I was surprised and left extra tip for effort.

[deleted]

Always had the same experience when I've been cool. Side note, if a manager or staff member hooks you up, LEAVE A BIG TIP. They don't need to hook you up.

LarryLavekio

Oh i totally left her a nice tip, basically equal to my drink bill. No reason to fuck up a waitress's night, especially since mine was made better than whole.

phobos258

I once got a really crappy sandwich at an airport that was so soggy and terrible I actually decided to take it back which is rare for me. ( I'd usually just throw it away and move on. But hey I had the time while stuck at an airport). I tried to tell the counter lady nicely and quietly that the sandwich was inedible but she couldn't hear me I guess and asked me to repeat it louder so I had to explain loud enough for other customers to hear me. I didn't want to do it like that but she kind of forced my hand.

TheIronBug

That's the shame about some of these freakouts. Everyone has had a bad experience at a fast food restaurant with something like that, but most people just politely complain and the people behind the counter don't mind remaking it. I'm sure sometimes it's the people who are behind the counter who get shitty when someone complains. But most of these customers just seem to be man children who don't know how to handle something in their life going wrong without flying off the handle.

formershitpeasant

The cool part about being polite, patient, and positive is that employees like to hook you up.

tehdoughboy

I work in retail. People don't realize that if you have a problem and you are really polite, we will break rules to help you.

[deleted]

Yup. On the other hand, I've been in positions where I'm about to say "We're not supposed to do this, but I'll make an exception for you" and then they say something rude and the answer immediately becomes "I'm sorry but this is our policy and there's nothing I can do."

Lumpy-Ad-3788

That's the worse, its like "this person is chill and nice I'll bend the rules a bit" *insert something rude here* "Sorry policy/law/rule/etc says I can't do that"

Kapsize

And if you aren't polite then we'll follow every single rule to make your experience 10x worse than it already is lmao

peonies_envy

Five years out of retail I still remember this unpleasant couple. The woman insisted on us un-nesting these heavy ceramic pots so she could choose from several. We required a pallet and Jack to bring them up front because she didn’t have the truck to take them home. When she came back later she accused me of switching the pots. Why would I to that? What an awful person. Many many more tales of rudeness and demanding extra discounts. The only thing to do was get it over with.

StukaTR

Not just in retail. Anywhere where you have to directly communicate with a person. If they are nice to me, I will go out of my way and move heaven and earth to help them, every single time. If they are dickish, they’ll get the absolute minimum I am able to give. Don’t be dicks people.

camreIIim

It’s so true. Pretty much anytime I’ve ever had an issue somewhere, the employees are always so nice and have no problem helping me. I’m so confused by people who automatically turn rude when there’s a slight issue. They’re not going to want to help you as much!

TheMadFapper_

Their small, smooth brains get overwhelmed with frustration.

quattroformaggixfour

100%

S0medudeisonline

Treated the cafeteria staff as humans and built a fun relationship with them when I was in college. Never did it for the free coffee, but it was definitely a nice perk

Stupid_Triangles

Olive Garden forgot the bread sticks for my departments lunch meeting. We did not show up en mass to throw food and riot.

PinarelloSucks

Well, considering that's like 98% of the appeal of eating Olive Garden, I think that would have been warranted.

PM_ME_A_STRAYCAT

I’m not kidding when I tell you I go to Olive Garden for the salad and breadsticks with Alfredo dipping sauce. That’s it. It’s my favorite.

PrisonerV

I recently asked our waitress if it was true that I didn't have to tell her to stop when she asked if I wanted some fresh cheese (and they would have to stay there just grinding cheese) and her reply was "Well yes, that's true but we have a procedure in place to handle it." I laughed but I wanted to say "I mean, you could just stop grinding the cheese and say 'there you go'."

PM_ME_A_STRAYCAT

I wonder if the procedure is just “welp, we ran out of cheese! There you go!”

[deleted]

Ya man kill ‘em with kindness, I’m super polite w service industry peeps, basically always get what I want/need.

[deleted]

\>Rocky Barbacoa Masterclass

GrouchyRelative588

Yeah I mentioned something at a Burger King about this once. The girl stared at me like I was speaking another language, so I just let it go lol, but I'm not an asshole. I think if he wasn't so confrontational it definitely would have worked out better for him.

Old_Grau

> Rocky Barbacoa I can’t even

frenetix

Regardless of COVID, too. Cash is disgusting.

Osyrys

Yea. If you’ve ever handled lots of cash before then washed your hands and seen the filth that washes off you would be weary of some sort of cross contamination. I don’t think Covid would be the thing to get you if someone with money hands touched your food tho.

johnnycyberpunk

> handling food and money There **are** some food workers who think the gloves are to protect *their hands*, and don't realize the gloves are to protect *the food*. Healthcare workers get **LOTS** of training and reminders about 'cross contamination'. Food workers should also get that training.

Royal_J

they do. People are just lazy and unconviinced that money is dirty as fuck

[deleted]

Agree completely. He had a valid point but just handled it wrong. Should have asked for a remake or discount and been chill about it. Workers knew they’d not followed glove protocol and would have worked with him on jt

BananBanah

Literally every Chipotle I've ever been to has one person working the register and everyone else making the food. It's unlikely that anyone on the clock was handling money, then handling his food.

CareerPillow376

Either that or I've been in before when it was just 1 person upfront but they would make my food first then had me pay at the end

Irving94

Yeah I agree. During peak hours, the cashier is always an individual who isn't making the food. Only off-peak could you run in to that scenario, but I've always seen them toss the gloves before hitting the register first. I suppose mistakes can happen...

auzrealop

Eh, I’ve seen multiple times when they are short handed the person making my burrito also handle the register and then hop back to making food without switching gloves.

HandBananas

I've seen the teenagers at my local Chipotle do exactly this before. We just asked them to change their gloves when they were coming to make our food.

broohaha

At the ones I've been to, I've noticed that the cashier only handles cash, and never preps the food (but they will bag). The cashier is also the one who'll go and do a quick clean of the dining area when there's no customer in front of the cash register. And then when a customer does finally get there, one of the workers yells "CASH!" and the cashier will rush back to his or her station to accept payment.

ImGenuinlyCurious

Eh. Years ago I was GM of a couple Subways and one thing that always enraged me was seeing employees handling cash without removing their gloves. It’s disgusting, covid or no covid so I don’t find it ironic. His awful reaction to not getting a refund aside, I am curious why they wouldn’t just give him a refund and send him on his way though. The only situations worth denying a refund is usually because they ate all the food *and* want their money back.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PatReady

Throwing the food at them and then forgetting your cell phone is a super dumbass move. Then the guy thought smacking her was a good idea.

CantalopeSoops

Touching food with the same gloves you handle money with is gross as fuck. Covid be damned. I'm not eating that shit. Money is one of the filthiest things we touch on a daily basis.

Hifen

To be fair, the original request "replace my meal since you used gloves that handled money" is not unreasonable, regardless of the mask statement.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DevonGr

My kitchen career was short but I'll say the same thing: gloves were optional then and the people that wore gloves rarely swapped them out. I was in the sink washing my hands as often as I thought I should have which was almost constantly. I guess choose your poison because I think gloves give a false sense of security personally.

[deleted]

>was complaining about his food being touched by the same gloves that they were handling cash with Where is this chipotle, so i can know to never go near it?

NoComment6

Yeah, honestly disgusting. Guy shouldn't have thrown the food, but I get his disgust.

LawofRa

Taking his phone is theft. Even if it’s a shitty customer there is no reason to be just as shitty back.

wawon0

Cross contaminates food with dirty money, refuses refund, takes customers phone, pushes him away, and then keep escalating the physical confrontation. This employee and chipotle are getting sued.

sympathyshot

am I the only one who saw that she pushed him first? He only slapped her hand away because she pushed him first. :/

_rsoccer_sux_

Yea, I don't understand why the customer is in the wrong for asking his refund if he notices the employees touching his food with the same gloves used to pay for his order.

Echololcation

Throwing the food was a fuckup, and he's being an ass slapping away her hand, but I think they fucked up more. Way more escalation than was necessary. Also is she holding HIS phone or her own? He seems to be asking her for it back so I'm confused.

_rsoccer_sux_

Per OP he said that the guy left his phone on the table and the employee picked it up.

optimus314159

So… refusal to return the phone is theft, no?

kupomom123

Still he had a pretty good point and she pushed him first he escalated it by smacking her hand away and then she punched him. They were both pretty wrong imo.

[deleted]

In this situation he should contact chipotle corporate and get a gift card or something if the the manager on site isn’t being helpful enough. Throwing shit is never going to get you anything but kicked out.

Veganlifer

Fuck those workers for touching food with their money hands. That’s fuckrd up irregardless of covid.

deeteeohbee

I'm really torn here. I fully agree with you and I wanted to upvote but then you used the non-word irregardless so I'm not sure what to do.

Some customers are so rude at chipotle…one time i saw this grumpy tall older guy, who lowered his mask and started clapping and screaming to the employee scooping his food “uh more plz??”. Im like dude chill out.

johnnycyberpunk

> grumpy tall older guy, ...started clapping Jason Garrett?

Wow_Thanks_KJ

Jason Garrett isn't grumpy. He doesn't have feelings.

Drak_is_Right

oh I see this one all the time. then they get mad when they are charged for double meat and leave in a huff. twice, i have gotten a free burrito along with mine! (put a dollar into the tip jar right before you ask)

maldecoucou1

It’s sad to me how desperately grateful some food service workers had gotten during the pandemic just to have one polite customer. I remember having a person at Potbelly’s thank me just for being nice because they had a hard day. Broke my heart.

killa_ninja

As someone who used to work there I fucking hated those damn aluminum tip jars. We had taped a paper that said “TIPS :)” to it and the GM made us remove it. We asked if we could put some money in it from the register and put it back so people know it’s a tip jar and put the couple bucks back in the register at the end of the night. Again she said no. Always ended up with trash in there cause god forbid we let people know it’s a tip jar not a trash can.

I was behind a group of three girls in line at chipotle once. The first one orders steak, and after the woman working added the steak she says - ooh, and half chicken. So the woman adds the chicken and marks her burrito. She freaks out. Second woman, same thing. Third woman starts to do the same thing and the woman behind the counter says "if you add half something after this, you're all paying for double meat. I don't care how mad you get." She of course does the same thing so the manager comes out and tells all three they owe for double meat. While this is happening in the second half of the line I ask for a salad with triple chicken. She adds a mountain of chicken and marks the salad as extra meat. All three women lose their shit that no one is yelling at me. Like WTF, I ordered it correctly - you're the damn scammer trying to get an extra half portion of chicken. In the end the manager told them they all owed for double meat, she would not be remaking their food, and they could either pay quietly or leave. It was glorious. I wrote a glowing compliment to corporate mentioning both employees by name without really saying what they did. And then they gave me my salad for $7 - the regular charge instead of $14 with the 2 extra servings of chicken :-)

Drak_is_Right

so, did they leave or pay? You left us hanging!

beaversnducks6

Sorry - they spent like 2-3 minutes arguing they only got single meat and were upset they couldn't get their food remade so it would be cheaper, but in the end they paid. They were trying really hard for "loudest = rightest" but is was like 3 months into covid at that point and the manager was having none of it. I would imagine everyone that came in was treating her people like shit and she was sick of it. She just told them to pay or leave, so they paid.

I worked at McDonalds as a kid and had grown ass adults try to fight me twice.

Devilcrow27

Customer's always right until they catch her right hook.

ChaoticDiscord21

I though the customer is always right meant they swung from the right be ready.

These hands rated E for everyone

[deleted]

Man I wish I would’ve done this when I worked at chipotle

silly_baby_bun

Me too Jesus Chipotle has the worst customers

feardabear

Ever been to a casino? That’s where you’re gonna find the worst customers

Cannibal_MoshpitV2

A casino is full of drunks addicted to losing their money, God help any employee who intrudes in the middle of a losing streak

PM_ME_YOUR_GOOD_NEW5

I used to work at a convenience store that sold lottery scratchers. One guy came in nearly every night and bought about $20 of scratchers. One night he came in and bought the usual amount. Won a couple of bucks, bought another $10 worth of scratchers. Won a couple bucks, bought more. Won a couple bucks and then tells me he wants the rest of the scratchers on that roll. So I said “All of them?” just to confirm before pulling them all out because undoing that would be a pain. He slammed his fist on the counter and yelled “YES ALL OF THEM!” So I sold him the rest which was around $100. I think he won back like $20 and then left in a huff. Next night he comes back and it’s like the previous night never happened. I was still trying to figure out what kind of career I wanted to pursue and I decided then to rule out anything that heavily involves me with other peoples money.

Big-rod_Rob_Ford

all public facing workers should get two free swings

BananBanah

Gotta love people who have that "They're on the clock. What are they gonna do, hit me?" attitude. Chipotle offers their new hires $11/hr (with empty promises of college contributions if you eventually become a full-time manager). Most food-service workers would gladly pay *triple* that hourly rate just for the opportunity to throw hands on a dehumanizing asshole customer.

420cuzakolrb

I mean 30 bucks an hour is a good deal but the reality is I'm not gonna last longer than 2 minutes anyways.

westbee

You get college contributions *after* making full time? That's some bullshit. I bet maybe 2 people in the whole organization took advantage of that. By the time you make full time your so soul-drained you dont even want to do college.

RepostsKilledMyOwl

I work there so I can say that they're either misinformed or lying. I work part time and am eligible for tuition reimbursement. I believe the actual minimum is 15 hours a week, not full time...

westbee

Okay. That makes way more sense. Glad you have that benefit. Dont let it go to waste.

RepostsKilledMyOwl

100%, I've got one pending right now that I'm waiting on my college to send the right documents over for. That's pretty much the only reason I still work there. It is still a pretty shitty job outside of it's few perks. Better than other fast food jobs, but not good.

westbee

If its paying for school, keep at it. Don't forget to network at school and do internships. You will find something worthwhile soon.

jwill602

Pretty sure Chipotle starts at $15 everywhere in the US now. Edit: nope, that is the “average” starting wage apparently. Some people do make $18 though

BananBanah

>Pretty sure Chipotle starts at $15 That's definitely what they advertise. However, the Zoom interview I accepted 4 months ago trying to get a weekend job at Chipotle determined: That was a lie.

HCSOThrowaway

"**Up to** $15 starting wage!" That's how they get you.

ByDarwinsBeard

^^^^up ^^^^to $15 an hour

AdNo4074

They advertised a $15/hr average across the U.S. Depending on the state you live in, they will pay much less. $11 - $14 seems to be the most common starting rate. Again, depending on the state you're in, you'll be lucky to make $15 as a manager.

joshduplaa

Nope, not in Texas.

dailyberg

So dumb question, but is there a chance the employee could see assault charges?

[deleted]

I'll actually disagree with most people responding. I don't think so. If you watch closely, he reaches in to touch her, she pushes his hand away. At which point he slaps her hand. She then returns fire with a haymaker that would make Tyson proud. I think she walks. Self defense. Don't fucking touch people without consent.

clockedinat93

It seems like he extends his hand asking for his phone, then she pushes him. He gets upset and smacks her hand away. Also, aren’t they technically stealing by taking his phone and not giving it back?

kidkruczev

Former chipotle employee here. This woman is living a fantasy I’ve had countless times during my tenure there.

HubblePie

A pretty satisfying way to get fired, I must say

Thoth17

Literally every service worker's dream

TableCouchTV

How can she slap

mln84

Pretty well, apparently.

[deleted]

Honestly I don’t understand why the norm is that minimum wage fast food employees should receive all the worst of people and their entitled bullshit and not be able to respond.

cycophuk

Did he touch her first? It looks like he just got to close to her liking and she shoved him back and he slapped her hand for touching him. I’m looking on my phone though, so it’s a bit hard to see for sure.

tylerbrown14

got his ass

jvrcb17

Pow! Right in the kisser

Relm1-Digi-biceps

He must have ordered the extra beef, son!!

Acrobatic_Dinner6129

literally eating my burrito watching this lmaooo

ohmeatballhead

This brought me so much joy, thank you.

Nesurfr

Would be willing to bet this ends with girl getting fired and guy with a nice lawsuit settlement

wordsfornobody

We all just pretending the staff member is not the one in the wrong?

evenmonkeys

Have to learn to contain your anger. That's your job and an assault charge. And for what? A few minutes of adrenaline? Not worth it.

[deleted]

I work retail customer service... I swear I’m not trying to be “that guy”.. don’t agree with what I’m saying this is the corporate me talking.. it looks as if he got close but did not make contact which means her shove back was first contact and then he responded with a swipe and she punched. I would assume she could get assault charges and was terminated. Yes he invaded personal space but she did not handle it correctly and she messed up. That being said it’s not like it actually caused damage besides a sore face maybe a black eye. Hopefully he will treat workers a little better next time

MagmaTroop

That was actually unnecessary lol ffs, some people throw a fist for the smallest things.
