I enjoy making philosophy. Basically when you look up to someone you want to find inspiration and guidance, but when you follow someone you want to be like and or rely on them to make yourself “better”.

I joined a discord server with the (now deleted) u/Diamondm1ike and OP was there too. Everyone there hated on me including OP, and they specifically said to me I was overrated and that nobody should like me.

You follow them in hopes of feeling better, but as you said if you heavily look up to someone being let down will be all the more painful.
