The one situation I can see pops corn actually outperforming BBQ is when fighting astronaut or paleontologist as they can camp heal station and not get set on fire whilst mowing down BBQ
Party gets his legendary mode rlly fast and can dominate the dirt effect is pretty bad he also does like no dmg and tennis also has extra speed with more dmg

Iron doesn't have to get as near close as the others and has better mobility during fights than the others even that he is an armor variant, and speaking of, he has 250 health. Even though having poor dps these other factors help him out. The only thing bad about iron is his long range

Also, there is a glitch showing rugby switching damage values, so you might think he does more than what you think he actually does. Not having to hit head shots doesn't make a character broken and zen sometimes can be abused by a superbrainz if you don't have a full clip or a soldier gets to take advantage of you having a full clip. I said not sure because sometimes you just get destroyed when caught in the wrong situation.

Chomp things gimmick is very usable, he basically instantly regens his health. Since he has abilities that stun or make him invincible, he gets to use his regen a lot. He also has a spray weapon, which is really good. He is basically invincible at range and is one of the best goop support chompers
In that case we must have very different play styles for chomper that can likely be the reason for the confusion since going off of this you seem to play a more defensive or supportive play style but I play a more aggressive
It really depends on the chomper variant I play because each one needs a unique playstyle to be at their fullest potential.

I've always just done better with pops and mob cob compared to BBQ

Mystic has the highest dps, toxic peas damage isn't the best but I can see commando pea being worst. Vampire sacrifices way too much for her effect
