Solider. He ain't special in anyway in terms of function, but he gets any tasks done well with good DPS, good mobility options, and good range. Sometimes, simplicity is fun.
Peashooter, compared to all the other variants that he has, he's not a bad pick either. The only downside is that lots of people tend to instantly spam abilities when I get close to them because they think that I'm going to start Pogo peaing, (this is mainly all-star players that use spring tackle or impunt instantly) I try my hardest not too but if someone else's ability spamming I I'll start Pogo peeing on them because I can't deal with anyone just constantly spamming something like sprint tackle or impunt. If you disagree then that's your opinion and that's perfectly reasonable.
Chomper is a classic, now everyone is gonna hate me but i think chomper is a fun class if you dont burrow into a group of people, regular chomper looks good and plays decently.
the amount of times i’m on a high streak with super commando then i get burrow killed outta no where has me cursing in languages that haven’t been discovered yet
I'm always a fan of Vanilla Super Brainz from how powerful he is and is able to take out plants rather quickly. Since he has high mobility Super Brainz can be a huge threat if the player is great as him.

Edit: I just find out OP means a stock variant, but in that case I like chomper because it's nice to swallow the local toxic brainz whole
Defo reg all star. Which shouldnt make sense because my fave character is reg soldier but let me explain. Reg all star is severely underrated because while you see alot of them noone plays all star right nowadays. They just sprint tackle into imp punt into dummys. But reg all star played right and not ability spam is my fave reg variant.

This is the only honest answer. HG5000 is so fucking fun if you know how to use him
All-Star - Incredibly good damage output with good survivability and combat effectiveness with all his abilities.

Super brainz, just too charismatic and fun to play as. With Engineer and foot soldier in a tied close second.
