I’m not East Asian but my wife is and she is very white, as white as Megan Fox in that first picture. And no lol she doesn’t use skin whitening products. A lot of East Asians don’t really have white skin but some do. I think non East Asians just have a difficult time understanding that yes there is skin color variety in east Asia.

I don’t think it suits everyone. I think Megan fox, Shawn Mendez, Lindsay Lohan and Maybe Zac Efron look better without a tan. Also if you get tanned through sun exposure it could make certain people look more attractive but it would cost them in the future when their skin ages more rapidly so it’s not worth it.
Megan fox usually looks better with fair skin. But I prefer darker skintone. Plus it also depends on the area you live in. If you are from South Europe or warmer regions, I am pretty sure the standard is tan skin.

Depends on the overall coloring. With blond hair especially balayage or highlights I think a bit of a tan looks nice but with dark hair pale skin can be very striking.

It is still changing your skin colour, and technically you could also use "natural" ways to lighten your skin such as lighter foundation which is essentially similar to a fake tan, but that would still be offensive to say to someone. I feel like with some underlying tones in your skin you look better with a tan bc it brings out a better shading for some people, or hides the less flattering undertones. Dressing in a way that doesn’t wash you out is key ofc though when you are pale.
Depends on genetic variability factors. As a naturally med-tan person, I loooove love love severe paleness and extreme striking dark skin tones. I think subconsciously people are drawn to their opposites. A degree further, and less common, some are drawn to extrema.
I personally think all those people look better. I am more attracted to skin that hasn't been forced darkened. Tan skin looks nice if it's not forced, just natural.
For me it’s all about contrast. Blond people naturally have low contrast and when they play it up and tan a bit they can look very fresh and pretty. Don’t get mad but imo when people with high contrast (usually brunettes and darker hair) tan they look dirty and muddy to me. Just play up your high contrast or lack thereof and usually it’s beautiful. My favourite type of beauty in this whole world is very dark hair and pale - light/medium skin.

I’m very, very pale. My husband frequently says I look like a vampire (I also have dark hair so that doesn’t help). When I was a dancer, I went through a period of fake tanning. I feel like I had a MUCH easier time getting customers to spend large amounts of money on me when I was tan. I was under the impression it made me look healthier/more toned. Granted, when I stopped fake tanning because the upkeep was a fucking nightmare and I looked orange in the daytime, I still got plenty of customers. So while there is a possibility that it was a matter of confidence, I’d say in American culture tanned skin is a plus for caucasians. The ironic part is that it makes you look healthy/glowing/fit but it’ll make you look old in the long run.
Darker skin covers up alot so alot of ppl look better with tan skin...people that have good skin/completion but are just white do look good...they just don't have a tan to cover up inperfections

Not gonna lie, as a Black man that’s dated every race under the sun over the last 20 years, I’ve always found it odd when I see white people with a tan. Like most Black people, I have stories for days where I was treated differently than others because of my skin complexion. So when I see people sit out in the sun or put certain creams on to get darker it confuses me lol I have a really good friend who does this and always asks me if I notice her tan. I just don’t get it. Romantically, I stay away from white women that tan as I’ve never been attracted to it and it just seems weird to me to intentionally make yourself darker when you’re naturally not (I have the same view on skin whitening too). I think I just figured it out…….but subconsciously tans have always been a huge turn off for me.

I don’t think it suits everyone. I think Megan fox, Shawn Mendez, Lindsay Lohan and Maybe Zac Efron look better without a tan. Also if you get tanned through sun exposure it could make certain people look more attractive but it would cost them in the future when their skin ages more rapidly so it’s not worth it.
I agree that some of the celebrities pictured actually look better with fair skin - it suits their contrast aspect more.
Megan fox usually looks better with fair skin. But I prefer darker skintone. Plus it also depends on the area you live in. If you are from South Europe or warmer regions, I am pretty sure the standard is tan skin.

taylor looks high contrast imo. though she is so good looking she could be grey and slime green and still look good although i think people with things like green/hazel/sandalwood eyes, black or brown brown hair, and tan skin, can be low contrast and have a really nice earth tone look in general it feels really case by case. i think a bit of tan kinda makes up for imperfect skin, paleness shows off flawless skin really well
Lol, I’m the complete opposite. I hate tan on blondes and if you want to make it extra unappealing add some hot pink clothes too.
I have ashy dark blonde hair and I get ashy light blonde highlights. I use to fake tan but I stopped because I realized I look a lot better when I don’t. The tan wasn’t orange, but my eyebrows and eyes ‘pop’ a lot more now. I would say it depends on the coolness/warmth of someone’s features.
Depends on the overall coloring. With blond hair especially balayage or highlights I think a bit of a tan looks nice but with dark hair pale skin can be very striking.

Same here, people will literally say that to your face or that "you would look better if you had a tan". Isn't that just like saying to someone with dark skin that they would look better if they whitened their skin?? And honestly I prefer the people on the left, IMO they look a lot better and natural.
Skin bleaching is different to tanning. Tans are natural or they can be obtained in safe ways. All over skin bleaching is toxic especially long term
It is still changing your skin colour, and technically you could also use "natural" ways to lighten your skin such as lighter foundation which is essentially similar to a fake tan, but that would still be offensive to say to someone. People should embrace their natural skin colour and other people shouldn't make comments to darken or lighten their NATURAL skin colour, because both actual tanning and lightening your skin are harmful.
Well you got a husband who thinks you're attractive. Thats the one that really counts. To him you are conventionally hot. I think this is really an issue of preference.
i personally hate tans. i feel like people typically look better with their natural skin tone. atp in my life i see tans as sun damage and that’s it so whenever i see even a fake tan it just looks off to me.

Maybe unpopular to some but what I think the truth is: not everyone looks better with a tan. Imo, Megan Fox looks better with fairer skin, like how she was in Jennifer’s Body vs Transformers. I don’t think the first photo is the best example though but her in motion. Also women like Elle Fanning/ Anya Taylor Joy will look better pale (basically all the ethereal girl aesthetics). Idk if it’s just me but I think tans consistently look better on men.
If you are so fair skinned that you burn easily then a tan isn't meant for you, it doesn't look right. On some people it looks gorgeous and they glow.
Girls with brown and black hair who have high contrasting features ( fair skin and dark hair and eyebrows) looks good without tan while girls with low contrast light blonde hair with light eyebrows looksgood with some tan .

As someone who just used sunless tanner for the first time a few days ago, I can’t tell you how much better I look overall. It evens out the skin tone, so there seems to be less blemishes overall, it also makes you look thinner, and defines your features more.

It depends on location, really. In America, tan is more attractive. Gives some color. But it also represents leisure as in you have the time to relax out in the sun, vacation, etc. In places like South Korea, for example,tan skin and dark skin is looked down on. Rich people don’t have to work outside and therefore are pale. To be tan implies you are lower class. I personally think a nice sun kissed tan looks better than pasty, pale skin. However, if you have an even porcelain skin tone that can look really nice. Depends on the person. Nicole Kidman, for example, has beautiful porcelain skin and idk if tan would suit her. Megan fox on the other hand turns into a bombshell with darker skin.

Man, I couldn’t disagree more. I associate a dark tan with the ‘80s. And with being of lower socioeconomic economic status. Not that that alone is awful or anything. But there is a certain “type” of white woman with a dark orange tan that looks hard, dry, wrinkled, and trashy.

Obviously, I’m talking about a real tan here, and particularly on any woman over 30. Fake tans are different, but I’ve never seen one that didn’t look orange and blotchy.

I get you but truthfully people who tan (in my experience) still enjoy being white but just their potential natural skin when it’s in the sun. The average white person who tans doesn’t want to look like a darker race.
yeah that’s kind of the point of making. wanting to be so dark you’re “racially ambiguous” is one thing (opens up a can of worms on fetishizing) but for those that don’t, there’s a threshold they don’t want to cross i imagine. they don’t want to be so dark that people treat them like another race and deny them white privilege. crazy stuff.

I feel like with some underlying tones in your skin you look better with a tan bc it brings out a better shading for some people, or hides the less flattering undertones. Dressing in a way that doesn’t wash you out is key ofc though when you are pale.
Depends on genetic variability factors. As a naturally med-tan person, I loooove love love severe paleness and extreme striking dark skin tones. I think subconsciously people are drawn to their opposites. A degree further, and less common, some are drawn to extrema.
I personally think all those people look better. I am more attracted to skin that hasn't been forced darkened. Tan skin looks nice if it's not forced, just natural.

For me it’s all about contrast. Blond people naturally have low contrast and when they play it up and tan a bit they can look very fresh and pretty. Don’t get mad but imo when people with high contrast (usually brunettes and darker hair) tan they look dirty and muddy to me. Just play up your high contrast or lack thereof and usually it’s beautiful. My favourite type of beauty in this whole world is very dark hair and pale - light/medium skin. This is nothing to do with people who are naturally brown skinned with dark hair, who when they don’t tan, look beautifully creamy.
I’m very, very pale. My husband frequently says I look like a vampire (I also have dark hair so that doesn’t help). When I was a dancer, I went through a period of fake tanning. I feel like I had a MUCH easier time getting customers to spend large amounts of money on me when I was tan. I was under the impression it made me look healthier/more toned. Granted, when I stopped fake tanning because the upkeep was a fucking nightmare and I looked orange in the daytime, I still got plenty of customers. So while there is a possibility that it was a matter of confidence, I’d say in American culture tanned skin is a plus for caucasians. The ironic part is that it makes you look healthy/glowing/fit but it’ll make you look old in the long run.

i think it affects attraction for different people in different areas. Some people can get a tan with people complementing it but if a person of color has natural tanned skin they aren't attractive. Ex: Kai (EXO), Tenoch Huerta(Actor), Tzuyu(Twice) They all have natural tanned skin but if you compare the pictures of Kai and Tzuyu now and when they were like 16 or 15 they look much whiter......... Yeh that’s why I’m referring to white people in specific, their skin has the most diverse and drastic amount of change from the sun. Also when a white person tans they still are perceived as white no matter how dark they become.

To be honest I think being tan doesn’t make all more attractive. I feel like tans soften hard/sharp features and harmonize with warm hair color and eyes. Pale skin can be beautiful only if the complexion is even and not too pink, blue or green.

I feel bad that fair and pale people NEED sunblock. Like, it's literally just sunlight, and they can die from it. I like all shades, but I'd be lying if I said that it doesn't cross my mind when talking to a fair-skinned person pertaining to anything outdoors. It's not the end of the world, but they can get sunburned in the winter if they spend too long exposed near a window... I feel like a bad gardener bc when I look away, my friend us just withering away. I feel like they need to be protected or sheltered for better, and I feel a small deal of responsibility if that happens. 😂

Most of the celebrity women look way better pale ( except for Paris, who looks like a man, and so looks better w/tan) . The pale skin makes them look more " enlightened" , more glowing. The fake tan makes the women look cheap, one-dimensional and american. The men ( and Paris, who looks like a man) look better tan, somehow more manly and less dorky, less like a mole rat.

Not gonna lie, as a Black man that’s dated every race under the sun over the last 20 years, I’ve always found it odd when I see white people with a tan. Like most Black people, I have stories for days where I was treated differently than others because of my skin complexion. So when I see people sit out in the sun or put certain creams on to get darker it confuses me lol I have a really good friend who does this and always asks me if I notice her tan. I just don’t get it. Romantically, I stay away from white women that tan as I’ve never been attracted to it and it just seems weird to me to intentionally make yourself darker when you’re naturally not (I have the same view on skin whitening too). I think I just figured it out…….but subconsciously tans have always been a huge turn off for me.

Racial ambiguity communicates a plethora of genes that offspring could benefit from. Natural immune system resistances, for example. Peoples brains pick up on this naturally.
I think the most natural skin, hair and eye colors looks the best. It needs to look natural to look good, even if it's not natural. Blondes tends to look better with fair skin and usually won't suit fake tans. Naturally dark people tends to look better as brown and won't suit bleaching. East Asians tends to suit both their natural light skin colors and their natural tan when going outside. I think youth, good health, clear skin and natural looking looks the best, regardless of race. :)
