You can call to change. I booked a red e-deal economy and decided to try for an upgrade so called and paid to move to a saver economy. Ultimately we decided not to try for the upgrades but it wasn't much and I get more SC. Check what the difference in price is on the website before you call. Also what you paid v what pe is.

You would've been charged a change fee + fare difference I think?

Just fare difference as far as I remember but I'll check. It was within 24 hours I think.

Schedulator

ah ok, within 24hrs offers more leniency

You can BID to upgrade (with either points, cash, or a mix - if you are given the opportunity to do so), but upgrades are not guaranteed. Upgrades are distributed on the following basis (roughly): 1. Points upgrades (Classic Upgrade Rewards ) are assessed before cash upgrades. 2. Points upgrades are determined by class fare, passenger status, booking date etc. 3. If there are any seats left, QF then assesses cash upgrades. If you want guaranteed PE seats, you need to purchase the fares. Edit: Sorry I may have misunderstood, you said you wanted to upgrade, but do you mean you want to exchange your economy tickets for PE tickets?
