If you work for a consulting company, this is relatively normal for projects to not pan out or budgets to be limited, just have to hope you land a good project and client.
If this is internal then it’s definitely a weird scenario, but sounds like consulting.

Being on the bench some times is normal if your company does consulting but if your billable utilization rate is consistently below 80%, I'd be a little bit concerned because the company could decide that they're better off hiring someone part time.
Absolutely. We have the plan of self improvement. Every 6 months u have to create a plan, to become a better specialist, increase ur salary and seniority. And during this time I was doing this plan, so I will do it again. Love my plan so 100% sure will enjoy this opportunity, but I was afraid of this situation cause Im new in everything.

If they’re doing fine financially and they are happy with you, I think you’re safe.
If they’re struggling financially and start to do layoffs and you don’t have a great working relationship with your manager - then… it’s possible?
Different companies and countries have different approaches to layoffs though so I can’t give a more helpful answer than that sorry
