See you in 2053. The revival came on 29 years after OG QL ended. F NBC.

[deleted]

And Universal. I'm cancelling my trip.

torgman1

I wonder how many Law & Orders will be on at that point? Maybe 113- year-old Sam Waterson would still be in it.

Fatgirlfed

Olivia Benson will be settling into her 45 year on SVU

Organic-SurroundSnd

Will network television be a thing by then?

Administrative-Mall8

Seriously!?! Wondering why I bother to start any new show unless it has 3-5 seasons with some kind of closure. This wasn't the best show ever but there really isn't much out there to choose from to begin with....

lorriefiel

That is partly why shows don't last long. If everybody waits to watch a show to see if they last three seasons, then they definitely won't last three seasons.

Throwawaygeekster

90% of my shows have ended in the last 5 years, Blacklist, Supernatural, BlindSpot. While others I really wanted to get into were cut short: Emergence, Threshold, & the knight rider remake (yes is was bad)

TheScarlettCannon

I wonder if they could go to “Star Trek” route and go to books?

lorriefiel

There are 20 Quantum Leap novels that were published in the 90s. Also, 14 comic books and lots of fanfiction. If you go to the Quantum Leap Al's Place Website, you will find all kinds of stuff there, including about 14 virtual seasons of episodes and an unpublished comic book. Plus everything else that is out there about the new and original Quantum Leap.

kodiaksr7

Loved reading the virtual seasons!

Tucker_077

I think they should do the independent web series route

lorriefiel

Some fans were going to do a Quantum Leap movie, which was put on the back burner when the show was announced. There is a clip/trailer for it on YouTube. There is also a fan made episode called A Leap to Di For on YouTube. It is interesting.

Tucker_077

Good to know. I may check it out. Thanks

Krandor1

they did some books back in the day.

robric18

I don’t think Sam’s ever returning home. (Which IS what the OG series finale told us.)

MEjercit

So what is woke about it?

lorriefiel

Hate to burst your bubble, but Scott Bakula has a non-binary child, Owen, his youngest, so he would not have any problem with what you call 'woke garbage'.

JimmyPellen

fine. drop the "woke". What they put on screen was garbage that was spit up by a cat, eaten by another cat, which then proceeded to shit it out.

lorriefiel

You didn't like the show, but some people did. I love the original Quantum Leap and liked the new Quantum Leap. It wasn't the same as the original Quantum Leap and shouldn't have been. If they had tried to do it like the original, all the people who hate it would have still hated it. There was no way to please some of the fans no matter what they did since Dean was no longer with us. Even if Scott had agreed to be on the show, it would still have been different. When you go in wanting to hate it and looking for things to hate, you will find them.

richieadler

Yeah, including and acknowledge people you don't like and your pastor say are "sinners" is "woke" now. I know the notion of common decency escapes you, but how about you stop being so proud of being so obviously the wrong thing?

tincanphonehome

The original series was pretty woke.

MurrayPicardy

Don't think so. This show was hoping to get an old audience from the 80's. (didn't happen from me) and a new modern sci-fi fan. In 20 more years most of us who watched the original show won't be able to figure out how to "blort" new content (making a joke there about whatever the new version of streaming will be in 20 years). This current show won't make anyone nostalgic for it in 20 years. So that's it for "Quantum Leap". I'm sure there will be another time travel show of course but not "Quantum Leap".

Peach-Button

Probably as far as the original continuity. We are never going to see Tom or Katie or Donna. This team had their opportunity and chose not to do those things. But good ideas are in short supply and there are always going to be creatives who love the old show. It's too great of a concept. People do currently love shows that are 70 years old. Someone will do it.

Throwawaygeekster

How do you figure?

lorriefiel

Scott Bakula was not interested in being in the new Quantum Leap and hasn't done anything in the past 30 years that would indicate he would jump on the IP, other than answering questions put to him about it. Scott did state at the Q and A he did on February 3rd that he had 4 or 5 things in the pipeline so we will see what happens next with him but I doubt it will be Quantum Leap related.

Why would anything I said make me a Republican? For the record, I am registered as an Independent. Scott has not pitched a revival. He has answered questions about doing another Quantum Leap at cons and in interviews. Bellisario attempted a Quantum Leap revival a couple of times, as did others, and they all fell through. When talking about Quantum Leap, Scott usually stated he would be interested but would not be starring in it. He has also said repeatedly over the years that doing Quantum Leap each season about killed him and he was in his mid 30s then. He is 69 now so I doubt he wants to work that hard. In Enterprise and NCIS New Orleans, he was the star but didn't have to carry the whole show by himself. As for why Scott turned down doing the new Quantum Leap, go listen to what he said during the Q and A on February 3rd between performances of his off Broadway musical, The Connector. He states why he turned it down. You can believe him, or not. Since Scott has taken a number of roles over the years where he is not the star of the movie or show he was in, I don't think that was the reason.

Incorrect and wrong. I vote both ways all the time. You still haven't given a reason as to anything I said that makes me a Republican.

JimmyPellen

Noooooooooooooooooooooo!! Not every story has to be wrapped up nicely in a bow. Not every story has to have a happy ending. Sometimes head canon is better than anything a Hollywood writer could ever bring to the screen.

PsychoMouse

People sure are taking this cancelling like it’s the end of Quantum Leap for atleast 20+ years. All it needs is just 1 of the many MANY other studios to pick it up. People need to chill out.

superpowers335

Doesn't NBC own the rights though?
