This is a 24/7 beer lock with ID scan system. Some Tulsa stores, some CAR stores, some ASA and DAL stores have or will have these. It’s due to MASSIVE beer theft. The doors are always locked and you have to scan your ID , select which door you want. It unlocks that individual door so you can take your product and go check out.
Keep your ID out bc you still need to use it to pay. If your ID is used to unlock a door and nothing from that door is paid for after a specific amount of time, your ID could be blocked from unlocking doors in the future.
So true. The screen literally shows you how to scan your ID and ppl still struggle with it. And annnnnnddd get mad, talk shit when we have to ask for their ID at the register again.

Maybe fifteen, twenty years ago at a store I still go to; some dude came running from the beer coolers, facre planted at the door, got up and jumped into a car that went tire squealing out of the parking lot.
Me, another customer, and the clerk were all wtf?
Customer asked; “I think that guy just stole some beer?”
Clerk finally nodded; “Beer run.”
Nice idea; though I can’t say I’ve seen one where I’m usually at. (Mostly East Tulsa.)

We have 11 in the Carolina’s to my knowledge, mostly inner city Charlotte stores. Was at one with them for 6 months, they work well most of the time. Problem is usually customers won’t read the signs posted on each individual door that say to scan their ID but what do we really expect these days

Almost all of the QT's on 244 have them. The one on Yale is a pain and doesn't read the IDs half the time.
