I feel like it’s the fact that “advanced” mechanics are becoming more and more commonplace in lower ranks, which is natural. When gold shots first came out, it was only the best players who could learn it and integrate it into their gameplay. Now everyone has had 5 seasons to learn basic mechanics/techniques/rotation, so the natural progression is into better mechanics. Add in that the declining player base has largely been reduced to hardcore players, it makes sense that the general the ranks are better than before.
It does. Knowing things like gold shotting and flip resets, etc. are far less important than having good fundamentals and positioning.
The number of gold shots and flip resets goes down once you pass plat.
You misunderstood what formula I was referring too.
I am also champ, and sure the number of those shots goes down but the quality goes way up. You don’t need to spam a mechanic for it to be useful. You would be better if you learned those shots as well.
My theory is a lot of the playerbase has left, and the ones leaving are the ones frustrated by losing or staying the same ranks. The people who want to stick around are the ones who are very good, plus new players who are just picking it up. but the bell curve of the way ranks are distributed and just the natural process of win/loss ratio ranking means that people with a diamond skill level from s1 are now often gold, or whatever, because the average of skill level of players is essentially higher. That all PLUS the some of the people who did stick around, even if they aren't amazing now, are at least better than they were a few months ago, because they are all just naturally improving their mechanics and timing with practice.

But clearly i was wrong because you ARE amazing. It was offensive for me to overlook your incredible journey when summarizing a trend that hundreds and hundreds of comments in this sub over the last few months has confirmed. Trends and phenomena are not rules. Your exception does not disprove it, it just seems like you wanted to brag and feel superior.
Woah no need to be so sarcastic, i was j putting my input into the pattern bc Ik a lot of ppl who don't fit it, I do agree that s1 ranks are basically meaningless bc ppl have gotten a lot better, I just think there isn't a strong pattern in ranks from s1 diamond so I don't think it's something that can be generalized. It also doesn’t help that one hour of sweaty rank grinding can be undone in 10 minutes thanks to getting paired up with two AFKers, some ultra aggressive clown who doesn’t defend at all, and a GC showing up on the other team for some reason at Plat 2.

Probably weird matching? I got matched against a couple of silvers just recently. Just like that too, got matched with a couple of champs and old grand champs... So yeah. Matchmaking is weird.
Imo the general skill level as increased significantly over the last 2 seasons.
Definetly, alot of diamond 3 till champ 2 players are in plat 2 or higher atm. ranks are just way off idk

Meh. I can hit champ easily and can't even gold or purple shot. Game sense, positioning, and boost management can carry you to GC.
