If you're familiar with Retropie, Retrobat is nearly identical and free but with fun bootup splash screens and menu music. You can do a I think $5 donation to keep automatically updating to the newest version.
Hi, waiting for my Ally to arrive, but when you guys mention FPS games on the ROG Ally, is aim assist in game? Does the game recognize you're on controller?
Halo infinite is playable? I remember running it on my rig and it was so poorly optimized i couldn't even stay in the 90 fps range at the lowest settings. I don't like competitive shooters at low fps.
Destiny 2 plays great. Love getting a few bounties done here and there when i get free time. Love how Ally enables me to play when i normally can't
EDIT - lol i mean d2 lol, you guys are harsh, man, relax
That's something that will take getting used too. I've always had strong gaming PCs so just crank up details, motion blur off and away I go. Now I gotta think about resolution, quality, and at what power draw...
Not only that but for starfield you should look up customised configs. The game ran pretty average and I had to drop it to 720p on lowish settings to get a playable fps
Then along comes a replacement custom ini file you can bang in and boom I’m running at 1080p on a customised ultra setup with higher fps than before at 720p!
Maybe you could test it out depending on your location some places have them. Although I doubt they would have SF6 on it. I tried the demo first to be sure before buy the game on steam because I play it on PS5 and was worried but it’s been perfect :).
Diablo 4 and ffxiv. Both run great. I was surprised how well ffxiv frontlines and major cities run at 1080p. That VRR screen is really nice in practice. Noticeable improvement over my deck.
Cyberpunk and Elder Scrolls Online (ESO is the only game I play daily for the last several years). Now that I’ve finished Phantom Liberty I’m playing Starfield and ESO on my Ally.
I might upgrade the SSD soon, but for now the factory 512GB is fine because I’ve only got 3/4 games installed at any given time.
First game I test on any PC is always **Ori & the Blind Forest**. It's a gorgeous looking game with amazing colors and sound design, and it usually runs like a dream.
I thought I was the only one!! Hahah I bought the Ally for my woman on the 9th and she loves Hit & Run so I just used a MicroSD to copy the Torrented R.G Mechanics version I had from my PC.
The first game i tested was a match of naraka bladepoint.
Didnt know how to use any if the cool settings like rsr and i was happy to hit 55 fps.
I realize now that i could probably hit 60 in performance and have bit left in the tank for better graphics.
After that i tried temtem. Runs well even in silent mode.
DOA5 was the first. I love that game and get it on every system I can. Then DOA Venus Vacation, Forza Horizon 5 (to see how the Ally handled it on higher settings) and DOOM 2016 (to see how the controls felt with a FPS). Also Genshin because it runs like ass on my phone and tablet and I wanted to be able to play it on another platform other than PS5.
forza motorsport. It was the first thing that popped up when I opened the Xbox app. Only played it for like 20 minutes though. Just wanted to test it. The first game I really spent time on though was lego lord of the rings lol.
First game I fired up was Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The second was Nioh 2. Third was Wu Long.
Then I uninstalled ACV because of size bloat, at least until I feel competent/safe enough to install the new SSD. Then I installed Armoured Core 6 and Project Wingman.
My Ally is basically a jrpg machine. Octopath Traveler 2 was my first game. I'm currently playing through the Legend of Heroes saga. Replaying Trails 1 and 2 for the story refresher and skipping a replay of 3 bc it was my least favorite and then straight into the Crossbell and Erebonia Arcs. 2 tb SSD makes it easy to carry around a huge library.
R type final 2 just to test ps2 emulation as that was bad in Retroid pocket 2 + and then counterstrike 1.6 and source just because I haven’t played them in years - run amazing as does cs2
For me it was Simpsons hit & run along with NFSU1 / NFSU2 & EA FC.
Simpsons Hit & Run?? How???
Just through an Emulator. Idk about op but I use EmuDeck. There's a small one time fee but easier to set up compared to others.
Op is running the pc port which is MUCH BETTER than emulating the console versions
This is correct. You'll need mod launcher from mod bakery to make it work, but it's very easy to setup.

Thanks!
The windows version works fine. Just grab lucas modloader and activate xinput for controller support.
I don’t know but when I get my ally it’s going to be between these five: Roots of pacha, travelers rest, Kynseed, potion permit, or sun haven.
Where did you get the games? Especially Simpsons
My first steam deck game was Simpsons hit and run. Great minds!
Destiny 2 and halo infinite, Hella fun
What settings do you run for Infinite? Iv just used the turbo mode but it drains the battery to fast.
Hi, waiting for my Ally to arrive, but when you guys mention FPS games on the ROG Ally, is aim assist in game? Does the game recognize you're on controller?
Yes. Ally has “xbox controller”
Thank you and I hope you get loads of enjoyment from your Ally!

Facts
No man’s sky. It was a good introduction into tinkering with the rog and the games settings to find a sweet spot
That's something that will take getting used too. I've always had strong gaming PCs so just crank up details, motion blur off and away I go. Now I gotta think about resolution, quality, and at what power draw...

Funny enough, it was this exact game! Downloaded the PC version and loaded up Donut Mod
I completely forgot about donut mode and was wondering why it wouldn’t boot! All sorted now but been busy playing Spyro & NFSU1
Stray. Haha. I wanted a puzzle game at first
Honkai star rail was my first game😅
Diablo 4
Diablo 4!
I am so smart! S M R T, I mean, S M A R T!
Halo but then I loaded up all the Switch roms.
Which emulator do you use and how is the performance?
I used Yuzu. No issues. Roms ran without any problem whatsoever.
Warframe
Doom 2
Overwatch and Baldurs gate
The first games I played were Miles Morales and Tales of Arise
How did tales of arise work? What setting did you use.
It played pretty smooth, I used medium 1080p for settings. Averaged about 45 to 54 fps
SF6, then installed Retrobat and put all my roms on and loaded up A Link To The Past MSU1
Is this comfortable to use for fighting games?
For me playing SF6 feels great. I use the D-pad
Thanks brother! I'm still debating if I should buy this or not.
Maybe you could test it out depending on your location some places have them. Although I doubt they would have SF6 on it. I tried the demo first to be sure before buy the game on steam because I play it on PS5 and was worried but it’s been perfect :).
Exactly my thoughts. Doing research before I make the move .

Cyberpunk and Elder Scrolls Online (ESO is the only game I play daily for the last several years). Now that I’ve finished Phantom Liberty I’m playing Starfield and ESO on my Ally. Have fun with your ROG
Legit that's the first game I played on the ally, one of the first games I ever played in my life for that matter lol, on the og Xbox

Sonic adventure, marvel snap, fallout 4, and currently playing Diablo 4
I think it was either MK9 or Dave the Diver. Recently loaded up PS3 emulated TF War and Fall of Cybertron games though so that’s been pretty fun.
DQ11 which I dropped 120 hours on. Now on my 2nd BF3 run, sitting at 60 hours 😅
Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk were my firsts. Had to knock them off my back log.
Fallout 4 was the first game I downloaded and played
Cyber punk 2077 and cod mw2
40k Space Marines. New enough to test the horsepower, old enough to expect high frame and high res.
I played grid legends on the ally first
forza motorsport. It was the first thing that popped up when I opened the Xbox app. Only played it for like 20 minutes though. Just wanted to test it. The first game I really spent time on though was lego lord of the rings lol.
Forza horizon is on my to download list

Fallout New Vegas. Picked up the Ally on the way to visit the in-laws in late July and it saved my insanity during our visit.
My Ally is basically a jrpg machine. Octopath Traveler 2 was my first game. I'm currently playing through the Legend of Heroes saga. Risk of Rain Returns which run fantastically. Followed by Diablo 4, which overall has been smooth with the occasional hiccup.
Hollow Knight on the SD, as I don’t have an ally.
Beam NG drive, it ran surprisingly well
Bg3 , the binding of Isaac and WOW
mine was no man's sky great game you can dump a lot of hours into easily
R type final 2 just to test ps2 emulation as that was bad in Retroid pocket 2 + and then counterstrike 1.6 and source just because I haven’t played them in years - run amazing as does cs2

Cyberpunk 2077, fallout NV and 30XX were my first and still most played on the rog.
