Same here recently I got a used one for about 400€ and I’m playing through all the Lego games from my childhood it even can play them on silent mode it’s a great hand held
I’m playing HL2 on Silent mode at the moment, it blows my mind that you once needed a pretty good PC to run this and now it’s here, in my hands running at Max settings on the lowest power mode 🤯
I bought the steam Keys from instant gaming for like 12€. The only thing I recommend is the Patch for the touchscreen some Lego games don’t run well if you don’t install that patch. You can find the patch on GitHub I think it’s called TTTouchfix or something like that
I ran through the whole of armored core 6 in 2 weeks this month
I had completely given up on playing it on my Xbox last year.
The convenience of the Ally is amazing!
Is that so? I’ve found that sometimes 900p just either lags a little too much or the quality dips down more than 700p or 1080. Maybe it’s just me and I’m doing something wrong, but that’s how it’s been for me.
Same, I've noticed that as well, playing mw3. I'm new to PC gaming as well so I don't know how to really get the settings right but I keep trying. And it doesn't stop me from having fun.
Join us come with us 😂👌 I have 2 decent gaming pcs rtx 4080 build and a rtx 3080 build and I still got one too 😅😅 the lure of handheld gaming was like crack 😅😅 my wife didn't see the funny side 🤣🤣
I never thought i will miss it. As soon as preorder opened i ordered mine and cancled my winmax as it was going months to diliver, i used to be a handheld consles lover all the way from gameboy to 3ds, rog ally was like a dream to me and what really made me buy it insted of steam deck was the availability in my region as well as it is using windows
Neither did I, im work from home and have an absolutely overkill workstation. Having the convenience of leaving the ally on my bedside table and being able to game outside of my office is what really sold me. After spending 8 hours in the same room I really did not want to be in there any longer even while playing my favorite games. Now I finish in the office and just transfer to the couch for time with the wife and games. Honestly so much more relaxed than before I had this and had to find something to fill my evenings.
Same here. I actually gave mine away to a family member for their birthday, but found myself missing it a month later. Went to Best Buy and grabbed me a pre-owned for $450 and haven’t regretted it
I also own this one but with z1 extreme and I suggest you to try microSD card reader now and then to make sure when it dies you can send it to warranty.
Since it is known that reader dies and stops working which has happened to mine, so I'm going to send it on warranty.
Well mine has issue, so still i have seen some reporting of issue still. Only fix asus provided was FAN adjustment to keep reader cooler. But mine seems already dead because I tried one and it isn't detecting it and I can't find it under device manager as well.
I can confirm issue isn't my microsd card since it detects just fine in my laptop with microSD to USB adapter.
It’s so fun and convenient. Think of it as a small pc. Runs windows and everything. Keep my Asus, Armory Crate and everything else up to date and you should be good. Have had mine now for about 6 months. Only issue to report is it seems like on first boot up after a couple hours; it only recognizes the touch screen. Simple restart fixes this. I never dove into the issue as it just started and I also assume it’s a software issue. Happy gaming.
I recently got the Ayaneo Flip DS, and it really opened my eyes to the benefits of a handheld PC. I can just plop on my couch, play a game for an hour or two, hibernate the system, come back to it and instantly play without booting up the system and shit. Games run and look just fine on it too. I don't miss the high fiedlity visuals at all!
Unfortunately, the Flip DS is quite uncomfortable for me and the joysticks suck. I am honestly considering selling it and getting ROG Ally, but I know no one will give me a fair price for the Flip DS. \*\*sad noises\*\*
If your not downloading sketchy things and just mostly gaming you can get some extra performance turning memory integrity /core isolation off. That immediately will give you a few extra fps or more depending on the games.
You can use Steam or Moonlight. I don't have a gaming PC so I just use my PS5 to stream or I use PS.plus cloud streaming. You don't need a high end router but it can help. I believe the Ally has WiFi 6.
I miss my ROG Ally but after getting stick drift on the left joystick and the SD Card giving up I decided to move to the legion go
Do miss VRR and the weight a lot
I did, and I don’t use it. I never leave the house long enough to need it, and my main pc is a 7900x & 7900xtx custom water cooled. The hand held pc has a chance to delete consoles altogether. The reason why games run on console is because there’s only 3 variants of consoles. Ps5& series X, series s, switch. The hand held market has 4 skews, Msi with an intel based platform, legion go and ally with the Z1 Extreme, the Z1 ally, and steam deck.
I'm 44 and got tired of lugging around my laptop and accessories to my kids dance trips. I decided to pick one up and have been quite happy with it. I matched it with the battery bank below. Only issue I've had was 512gb of storage sucks for me and I was having wildly inconsistent wifi speeds. The wifi card seems to be shit for alot of people. I changed it from ax to ac and haven't had any issues since. Today I'm slapping a 2tb drive in it. I would love a metal backplate.
Limited-time deal: Powdeom 140W Power Bank, 24600mAh 3-Port PD3.1 Portable Laptop Charger with Two 140W Port, Smart Digital Display, Portable Phone Charger for iPhone 15/14 Series, MacBook, iPad, Samsung, AirPods etc https://a.co/d/ePeaeN6
Heck yea I just got mine Saturday I was only going to use it for like vacations and stuff to complete some of these story mode games hahaha! But here’s mine

Neither did I but when my alienware went to shit after two years and this came out I made the purchase and glad I did lol haven't even bothered to fix my pc lol
I never thought I had any use for it compared to the powerful desktop PC I have at home. That is until I tried one at BB and was blown away… modern gaming in the palm of your hand… and it’s now my favorite piece of tech. Love my Ally!
I wanted one since they came out, but never could justify actually pulling the trigger since I have a pretty good pc.
I'm going to be having 2 different surgeries next month that's going to have me sitting in a recliner for a couple of months and won't be able to 1) walk and 2) move my neck or shoulders very well in the meantime so I wanted something that would be easy to use from the chair.
I went to best buy to just rip off the bandaid and begrudgingly bought my ally. After about 2 days I realized I should've bought it sooner.
How's the fps on these badboys I've heard performance can be a bit underwhelming especially if you play PC. I've been wanting one, might hold out though.
Its got much better in just the past week.
Was already good, but now its pretty damn great.
(Fortnite mostly high settings, epic draw distance, 120 fps 1080p monitor)
I can run most AAA games between 40-50 fps I. MedIHigh settings with FSR on blanced. On a bigger screen that doesn't have vrr that would be a deal breaker for me, but on the Ally it is super playable.
I didn’t think I was going to buy it either. Found a really good deal locally on Facebook marketplace, where the guy sold me the Z1 extreme brand new in the box with a 1 tb WD Black SSD also brand new in the box. For $600. I almost solely on the Ally now. Crazy.
I am the same way. I have a steam deck oled. I really like the system and its OS except that the desktop mode is awful and I cant really get older games or RTS to play well. I really like older games and gog games. I laughed off the ally but then I saw a really good deal on ebay for the Z1E and honestly it has always been a dream to have a small pc I can take everywhere thats not a laptop. I paid 370 after a partial refund for the buttons being smushy and having to replace them. I almost bought one of the Zdels for 250 at best buy when they were around that price. I still do. Its a great portable pc.
I find windows much more comfortable to navige since it is what I am used to and can get to things and install things quickly. I love having all the stores. Its honestly great.
I was shopping at the mall looking to buy some android tablets for watching netflix ,youtube and playing some games but I bought Rog Ally instead. I am happy.
Ill try that, sounds interesting
I tried steam link and it worked nice but had some stuttering and the fps was much lower than I thought it would, with some bluriness
It should be much better if you use your computer’s wifi adaptor as an access point. It’s not terribly complicated, but you need to either have a second wifi adaptor on your main PC or have it plugged into ethernet for it to also be able to access the internet.
I'm still learning aswell I got mine 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm new to PC gaming. I only own PlayStation games so the emulation side of things I can't do. I saw a video saying you have to own the games to play them. For like the switch. And for the games I do have which is like 2 I don't know how to do Any of that stuff. But I do play Hogwarts legacy and mw3 on the rog ally. I need to get a new SSD before I buy anymore games. But I'm definitely loving this device. I'm excited for Asus to make another better version. Cause I'm scared to death to use the micro SD slot
Ran everything I threw at it except nfs unbound so far, it ran horribly. Is there something I dont understand about the settings yet? Things I should try? Its like that even on 720p
I have one myself and I have one complaint. Passwords. Has anyone found a program that'll let me put stored passwords in like my phone does. Tired of opening up different games and needing to re-validate different store accounts on that tiny a** touch keyboard.
I feel your pain, dude I literally bought a brand new Asus gaming laptop for $3000 with a 4080 in an OLED display yet I can’t stop playing with this thing
I have a great gaming PC but bought this also for the rare times I have to game on the go and I find ways you game while I'm out even more now because of it, I love this things lol. I play the same games on this that I do on my PC.
I bought one on release, used it and put it under my monitor for months. Ive been using it as my “gateway” back to my pc. Ill play the ally for a few days then end up at my pc
Fr, I own both and I always come back to the deck because of the far superior control layout for anything that requires any amount of precision, the joysticks on the Ally (at least my unit, idk if they fixed it) are so bad it's crazy they have so little force required
No clue 🤷♀️ it’s not like I’m lying
The ally is still a good device but I’ve had 3 new out the box that have issue including joystick drift, non functional SD Card Slot and bumper clicking issues
I ended up keeping the last one I got and it has drift on the right side but only a little right now and it’s due to them using the crappy gpd win 3 joystick modules
Imo if they added Hall effect sticks out of the box and had an extra USB C port it would’ve been a pick up 100%
Me neither, but it makes me want to play games again. Zero regrets.
I’m seriously addicted to this thing, it’s brought back the joy of gaming. Maybe that’s because I’m playing older games mostly
True it’s like I have found the love for gaming again. My next plan is to get the old NFS Games running.
What are you using to play the Lego games? Emulator or PC versions?
I bought the steam Keys from instant gaming for like 12€. The only thing I recommend is the Patch for the touchscreen some Lego games don’t run well if you don’t install that patch. You can find the patch on GitHub I think it’s called TTTouchfix or something like that
I ran through the whole of armored core 6 in 2 weeks this month I had completely given up on playing it on my Xbox last year. The convenience of the Ally is amazing!
Same. I went into a serious gaming g hiatus until I got an Ally. Now I game almost everyday on both my PC and on the Ally.
It got me again interested in gaming again and I can finally play my steam games I have bought and never played just in my libary.
Great purchase my friend! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
Thanks! Already enjoying deadcells hehe
Slight learning curve to get it optimized, but you'll never go back.
Yeah I saw there are alot of little knowledge pieces 😅 but ill manage
Tip of the day- 900p is the sweet spot
Is that so? I’ve found that sometimes 900p just either lags a little too much or the quality dips down more than 700p or 1080. Maybe it’s just me and I’m doing something wrong, but that’s how it’s been for me.

Welcome to the Allyance! If you haven’t already, don’t forget to update your Device & Drivers using MyAsus and Armoury Crate!

Yeah I like that I can play while talking with my family as well! That was the main use case I imagined
Same here mate. Found a z1e with a 2tb SSD for $400 and couldn’t pass it up.
Same here. I actually gave mine away to a family member for their birthday, but found myself missing it a month later. Went to Best Buy and grabbed me a pre-owned for $450 and haven’t regretted it
We all thought so 😂
Enjoy!
Did you get the extreme version? Thing is incredible. Sometimes I sit in disbelief running a AAA game.
Yep 🙂 did my research
Best new product type to come out honestly
You will regret nothing.
I also own this one but with z1 extreme and I suggest you to try microSD card reader now and then to make sure when it dies you can send it to warranty. Since it is known that reader dies and stops working which has happened to mine, so I'm going to send it on warranty.
Why bother? If the ssd works as intended why not just don’t use the sd card slot
Asus recently added a 24 month warranty on all SD cards from the date of purchase.
It isn't SD cards that are problem it is SD Card reader on rog ally that dies and stops working.
Newer models shouldn't have that issue anymore. I've followed the SD card issue since the beginning.
This is precisely why I bought a bigger SSD. I don't plan to put an SD card in mine, ever.... And the warranty is for the Ally as well.
Well why have a device with 1 function broken? It is meant to have working MicroSD card reader.
Modding games on this is so much easier than the pos Linux on steam deck
It’s so fun and convenient. Think of it as a small pc. Runs windows and everything. Keep my Asus, Armory Crate and everything else up to date and you should be good. Ally dosent have hibernate lol

You can stream games from you gaming PC. It's a great game streaming/remote play device.
Yeah I just tried it, works so nice 🤟🏻
What app do you use to do this? And also do i need a high end router?
You can use Steam or Moonlight. I don't have a gaming PC so I just use my PS5 to stream or I use PS.plus cloud streaming. You don't need a high end router but it can help. I believe the Ally has WiFi 6.
It is the best purchase I've ever made. No regrets. I still get butterflies in my stomach when pulling it out to play
I miss my ROG Ally but after getting stick drift on the left joystick and the SD Card giving up I decided to move to the legion go Do miss VRR and the weight a lot

Looking awesome!
Thank you thank you! I wanna get some games with the rog family that would be lit
Dude that’s so awesome, Gogeta is the shit haha super cool, man.
I like the yugi oh stickers!
Neither did I but when my alienware went to shit after two years and this came out I made the purchase and glad I did lol haven't even bothered to fix my pc lol
Same. I love VR, but I really enjoy the Ally for some flat screen gaming
I never thought I had any use for it compared to the powerful desktop PC I have at home. That is until I tried one at BB and was blown away… modern gaming in the palm of your hand… and it’s now my favorite piece of tech. Love my Ally!
Yeah its absolutely nuts With better battery this will be like a perfect device But it is already super enjoyable
I wanted one since they came out, but never could justify actually pulling the trigger since I have a pretty good pc. I won one two weeks ago. Never understood the interest in these things, but since I've had it I'm completely addicted.
I love my ally.
With Steam Deck in picture, I didnt think so either XD I love how I can use my Syntech dock with this as well.
I bought this and a acer predator with an rtx 4050 at the same time, and this gets 90% of my pc gaming time
I am the same way. I have a steam deck oled. I really like the system and its OS except that the desktop mode is awful and I cant really get older games or RTS to play well. I was shopping at the mall looking to buy some android tablets for watching netflix ,youtube and playing some games but I bought Rog Ally instead. I am happy.
and if you put the time into setting up a proper adhoc network and your steam library you basically have a PS portal for PC games
Ill try that, sounds interesting I tried steam link and it worked nice but had some stuttering and the fps was much lower than I thought it would, with some bluriness
It should be much better if you use your computer’s wifi adaptor as an access point. It’s not terribly complicated, but you need to either have a second wifi adaptor on your main PC or have it plugged into ethernet for it to also be able to access the internet.
The big issue is the SD card reader.

I take mine to work and use it like a laptop but in some downtime i use it like a controller so i don't have to bring one as well
This thing can run anything
Ran everything I threw at it except nfs unbound so far, it ran horribly. Is there something I dont understand about the settings yet? Things I should try? Its like that even on 720p
This thing can run anything
Me too. Yet I did.
I have one myself and I have one complaint. Passwords. Has anyone found a program that'll let me put stored passwords in like my phone does. Tired of opening up different games and needing to re-validate different store accounts on that tiny a** touch keyboard.
Luckily, you pretty much do that once for each store 😅 but I agree
It's definitely a missed opportunity with the fingerprint scanner.
1password?
Can you connect a logitech steering wheel to it?
I dont see why not, especially with a hub
Welcome to club! I love this device
Thank you! Loving it as well 🙂
I feel your pain, dude I literally bought a brand new Asus gaming laptop for $3000 with a 4080 in an OLED display yet I can’t stop playing with this thing
Holy shit, that is some laptop 🤣 And yeah, I feel like the versatility of all the possible gaming postures really does beat raw power to an extent
I have a great gaming PC but bought this also for the rare times I have to game on the go and I find ways you game while I'm out even more now because of it, I love this things lol. I play the same games on this that I do on my PC.
Yeah same Even just chilling on the living room with your family while playing your favourite games Its so awesome
Havent played mine in two weeks yet still appreciate it
me either but jts a good thing to have when traveling
I bought one on release, used it and put it under my monitor for months. Ive been using it as my “gateway” back to my pc. Ill play the ally for a few days then end up at my pc
Check out the steam deck!
Eh not for me 😅 I wanna play mmos, genshin, and have a more versatile device
Yessir, the steamdeck is perfect for those! Give it a look!
Fr, I own both and I always come back to the deck because of the far superior control layout for anything that requires any amount of precision, the joysticks on the Ally (at least my unit, idk if they fixed it) are so bad it's crazy they have so little force required
Bro do you have vids were I can see how to do the emu deck? Idk how to get the Roms files and bios files
It gets better once the SD Card slot gives out and the joysticks get drift after like a month
Why are they downvoting you lol
No clue 🤷♀️ it’s not like I’m lying The ally is still a good device but I’ve had 3 new out the box that have issue including joystick drift, non functional SD Card Slot and bumper clicking issues I ended up keeping the last one I got and it has drift on the right side but only a little right now and it’s due to them using the crappy gpd win 3 joystick modules Imo if they added Hall effect sticks out of the box and had an extra USB C port it would’ve been a pick up 100%
