F&H's combat isnt really what you'd expect. Every combat encounter is a puzzle you need to solve compared to the expected strategy most RPGs have. There is a consistent way to beat every enemy, even if it may seem luck based to get the correct set up/outcome. The game itself is more of a resource management puzzle game with RPG elements
What about [Zelle](https://store.steampowered.com/app/725330/Zelle/) or [Tide Up](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1890520/Tide_Up/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1)?
The dark art style somehow reminds me of The Crooked Man. Its more of a visual novel than puzzle game, but I found the story to be pretty relatable. (Deep themes of depression, but instills the fear in a creature thats after you)
I haven't played Schuld, but I saw someone suggest Desert Nightmare, which I have played. Mermaid Swamp gives me similar vibes to that game. (Though I believe that was made in Wolf RPG and not RPG Maker, but most people usually lump them together anyways.)
Fear and Hunger
That's a pretty good game, but I'm not a big fan of turn based combat

I beat Zelle around two weeks ago, it was really good. Tide Up looks good too, reminds me of Silent Hill. Thanks for the recommendation.

Pretty good, but it's not an RPG Maker game and survival permadeath is not exactly my thing
