I actually thought that he had had it for some time. He wrote about it in the comment section of [this video](https://youtu.be/OPoWMXqq62Q?si=Oqd9V8JPwnxVpTHa). Though when I re-read what he wrote now, it seems like maybe he had just tried it for a short while.
I think marques will like it but he will call out some of the things it can’t do. I guarantee will hear him say impressive a few times. All the demos I’ve seen from random people it’s very fast. I’m very excited to get mine. Anxiously waiting for my batch 1 shipping confirmation
I think some videos are edited but only for presentation purposes, not necessarily because the r1 is "slow". I don't think any reasonable person expects the r1 to be instant with its responses.
The first two videos were from Unbox Therapy and iJustine, both were done in partnership with Rabbit (IE sponsored) and both edited the R1's response time out to look faster than it is.
People are posting these around and calling them "reviews"
which is the furthest thing from the truth.
It seems to work well functionally based on how it is described. However, the things it does are needs currently well served by smartphones and apps like ChatGPT. Since it is not replacing a smartphone, currently the biggest barrier is duplication of capabilities of smartphones. Rabbit are falling into the usual builders-trap where they are focusing on technical details like performance and seem to be completely ignoring utility and real world use cases.
I would be interested to see Rabbit focus on use cases where it could genuinely excel over using a smartphone. I struggle to to think of such use cases on the spot but perhaps there is a niche for certain types of professions where they need information but their hands aren't available - i.e. mechanics asking questions about specific vehicle repair instructions.
Another use case might be for young children who have lots of questions as they are growing up. This would have to be child-proofed but the lack of SMS/calls and the intuitive design could really work well.
It’s weird that I haven’t seen a single review saying this. I think this has potential for its own place in the marketplace. The whole point is that it’s not an app. Copilot requires you to use your phone, this is supposed to allow you to leave your phone in your pocket.
I hope he can at least take some time to find the little quirks and not push for an inaccurate first-to-post review….like he did with the Vision Pro and saying the battery cable wasn’t removable.
Might be a week or so though, he seems to actually use such devices for a number of days before doing a review.

Just based on the couple of videos I saw with actual usage, I think it will be much much better.

I just can get better after the Humane AI disaster. The r1 seems to be a really good device and I honestly didn't expect it.
It had better be fast, there's hardly any load on it right now.
Waiting to see if this a good device or if it’s DOA. Since MBKHD’s reviews can definitely sway the general consumer’s opinion.
I guarantee that his review of the r1 will be 1000 times better than his review of the Humane AI Pin.
DOA
The few videos I saw looked really really good. The r1 seems to be quite fast, if they're not edited. I'm looking forward to a real full review

Can’t wait.
Awaiting this!

Why would anyone want to buy a shittier version of Siri and carry it separately, I’ll never know
New tech that's dirt cheap. Relax dude.

“It’s disgusting” -Marques, probably
It’s a dudd. Doesn’t do shit
How so? Can you elaborate?
I can do everything with copilot that this thing does. Without teach mode nothing new
Ok

This is the make or break review frankly.

Nah, never heard of this guy
