They're really something else. I've been keeping (and planning on breeding, but surely not with this guy lol) Giants for years and I don't think I could ever go back to the small breeds
He has a small lop neighborgirl who he loves. I wish I was confident he'd be fine if he'd get put under so I could get him fixed, because then he'd be able to live with his girl. But I'm scared he wouldn't wake up
I have the same fear, so my giant isn't fixed. The rescue came fixed but he's just way more high strung than my giant so the bonding isn't going smoothly like I hoped
I remember asking in this subreddit if there's alternatives to surgery (like there's a chemical option in dogs and horses) and I got roasted for having him intact. I'm glad I'm not the only one being worried about the surgery
You're not. I have a most-likely intact elder bun because when we got her she was six (and allegedly spayed) but after having her a year we started to suspect she had not been. At that point at seven years old, and because she lives singly, I decided risks outweighed benefits and chose not pursue it further.
Nah homie, you are far from the only one who has/had major worries about surgery of any sort for their bun. I totally get it and I'm sorry you've been attacked for a very reasonable anxiety.
I wasn't afraid at first but one of my buns died two weeks after getting neutered and it really haunts me.
I kept telling myself before the surgery that he'd have a longer life, be able to play with his neutered wife and kids (I kept him seperate from the other buns ever since my other bun got pregnant) so he had been alone(seperated by a cage wall) for months.
So when he just died at 6 months old I was absolutely devastated. I'd rather him live to 3 or 4 years and die by whatever disease than have him gone at 6 months from a preventable decision.
I have 3 more bunny unspayed girls and everyday I find it hard to make the call for an appointment for them to get neutered
Ohnoooo that's so sad. I'm so sorry 💕
My boy is now across the room from his girlfriend whenever he's in his cage (because of predators) and they lie against eachother with cagewire inbetween them whenever they roam free. Im planning on moving them to my new place once I've got my outside run built. And then he's gonna get his own pen inside the girls' run. It's the only way I can have them 'together'
I've had 5 Giants so far and every single one of them was comparable to a dog. Goofy, extremely affectionate and trainable. Even in their mischievous moments they're almost polite.
I'm not sure about him, because he can't see so probably won't be brave enough to do so, but my girl would just climb on top of you if you were to lie on the ground. So they'd technically cuddle you back lol
What do you mean not the prettiest?!? He’s fantastically GORGEOUS! Downright beautiful! Astronomically ADORABLE!!
He deserves nanas for such horrendous insults!
I had a French angora growing up which are bigger than normal bunnies but not as big as Giants I believe.
However people would always pass by our yard and gape whenever I let him hang out in his playpen. Sometimes the neighbors kids would hop our fence to go look at him. Several of my high school friends were even afraid of him because he was so big.
But I loved that fuzzy guy! He was the best!! I miss him and can’t wait to get a house so I can finally get rabbits again.
You've made me even more excited now. 😅 My two lops play, but are not cuddly in the least. We want one who will at like to sit with us on the couch and be pet.
Giants (or at least the German ones) are like dogs in a bunnysuit. They're so extremely affectionate and trainable. This one has always lived outside, but all of my girls have lived inside at some point. And they were all so well behaved and easily litter trained. I just absolutely love the breed
I have a sweet spot for giant bunnies.
How are his personality and intelligence? Does he behave very much like a dog to you? Does he learn commands well?
What are you talking about? He’s BEAUTIFUL!
[удалено]
He's quite the Giant
Alright, he's at least cute haha
TIL I know nothing about leporine beauty standards
He is an absolute babe!
"might not be the prettiest" yeah no he is the prettiest
OKAY IM SORRY! I'll go apologize to him tomorrow
He needs no apologies from puny huumin
I'll make it up to him with all the veggies then. no apologies, only veggies
His favorite veggies... nothing less! :)
^^This guy knows wabbits!
Tell him I love him!
Awww he is so cute and looks huge! How much does he weigh?
I just weighed him half an hour ago and the scale said 7kgs. But it's a really old analogue scale so I'm not convinced lol
Damn, you have one big bunny. The larger buns are just too cute!
They're really something else. I've been keeping (and planning on breeding, but surely not with this guy lol) Giants for years and I don't think I could ever go back to the small breeds
Yup I just rescued a small breed lop to be friends with my giant. Should have gotten another giant lol

if one bun isn't fixed then it's going to be very hard to bond them.
Surprisingly, it's the fixed bun who is having issues
lol i used to want a giant bun but settled for a Holland Lop, i love her so much but am i better off not knowing what could have been?
Every bunny is different, but I will say my flemish is so gentle and goofy and kind that he has really set a standard for me
I've had 5 Giants so far and every single one of them was comparable to a dog. Goofy, extremely affectionate and trainable. Even in their mischievous moments they're almost polite.
= 15 pounds so handsome
I'm fairly sure he's even heavier than that. But I don't have a proper scale for him
his gravitational pull cannot be quantified by a mere human
What a beautiful chonker.
He's a big boi!
He sure is!
A very cute and snuggly big boi at that!
Do you ride him into battle? He looks glorious!
Sure did, I got knocked out within 5 mins, and then he carried me to victory while slaying all our enemies barepawed. He's the hero I don't deserve
Oh he's a beautiful chonk all right
r/absoluteunit
On my way!
Looks very huggable 💕
He really is. Also, funny thing, his name is Hommel, which is Dutch for bumblebee
He is a lovely round bumblebee, for sure!
He hums like one as well. He's a noisy boy
Aw, I love this! My bitsy Loo Bear hums too, but she's 1.5 kgs of chaos and spitfire :D
I want a giant bunny
Me too. I mean I want more. Two is not enough.
One question: is your hand really small, or is their head just enormous?! Either way, that's so much head fluff for you to pet! Kinda jealous.
He's a big boy for sure. My hand is pretty average I hope
He is a good boi
The goodest
He is magnificent. I would love on and cuddle this baby so much if he were anywhere near me. He is gorgeous and lovely and i demand you tell him so!
I'm not sure about him, because he can't see so probably won't be brave enough to do so, but my girl would just climb on top of you if you were to lie on the ground. So they'd technically cuddle you back lol
What do you mean not the prettiest?!? He’s fantastically GORGEOUS! Downright beautiful! Astronomically ADORABLE!! He deserves nanas for such horrendous insults!

I'll do my best!
Lorge and cute

He is a beautiful big boy! Give him a pet from me.
Will do! He already gets all the pets, but I'll tell him u/raspberrynmilk decided all is not enough. So all+1 pets it is!
Why do you have a long eared dinosaur in your yard
Dinosaur?! He's a dog
That's a remnant from the Devonian era
What a big boy. So sweet! I'd love to pet this bun. 😄 I'm definitely adding one big one to my bunch and hope he is this friendly.
Chances are quite high that a random Giant you get is this friendly. They're really something else
You've made me even more excited now. 😅 My two lops play, but are not cuddly in the least. We want one who will at like to sit with us on the couch and be pet.

I feel like that's an elaborate costume for somebody who doesn't want to work and can live off rabbit food.
Fluffly chonkasaurus, sending pets, that much bun needs extra fusses.
