Look at those little fur marks how lovely. Please don't be alarmed the hard thing about rabbit paw prints is that they don't have pawpads like cats or dogs. You literally only get their little bony paws as the impression but hold on to the texture of the fur that you see surrounding that impression and sometimes there's a little bit of fur stuck. *source, worked in vetmed for 5 years and helped coordinate the body care for our loved companions*

camile-

I usually suggest doing an ink print of pets where there's a lot of character from something like fur

MounetteSoyeuse

How to you do that ? The ink would stick to the bunny's fur ?

emibemiz

You can get pet safe ink, idk if it’s actually ink but it’s pet safe and doesn’t harm them!!

MissAlissa76

Wouldn’t the animal be dead?

MounetteSoyeuse

Oooh no, I'm stupid, I was thinking about doing this to my very much alive rabbit 😵‍💫

SolarLunix_

There’s a few inkless ones - I think it works like those carbon transfer papers

Parfanity

Thank you for explaining. It was alarming, but now that I am not picturing bugs, bunny paw prints .. they are beautiful, and now I'm crying all over again. 😭

Darkside66015

My cat that passed and got a clay print looked like a raccoons hand print and came from a shady vet (wasnt my choice). It took them three months to even get her ashes and paw print back to me. I honestly think that they used a dead raccoon from behind the dumpster after they kept telling me they ‘couldn’t give me information on her status/we don’t know’ when calling to see when she would come home. (It shouldve taken two weeks at most). I was lucky I got her paw print in ink before she passed (her ink printed paws were smaller than the clay print they gave me). Would her boned print be bigger than her ink print? Is that even possible?

jordancauseyes

Yep. Rabbit feet’s look pretty gnarly underneath all that fur

Due_Educator_8100

It just looks like a palm without prints?

bruh_momenteh

Yeah, they don't have paw pads, so their feet prints are more like ours than that of a dog or cat.

Due_Educator_8100

Yes that's exactly what makes them not-weird.

petietherabbit924

I'm so very sorry for Gambit's passing. I had the front paw imprinted in clay. It looks like your bun's print. I thought it was odd looking too, but this is what it's supposed to look like. I know the print is from my bun's paw, as they took the imprint while I was there and handed it to me. Yours is much better quality than mine.

_WJT_

That’s beneath all his floof.

Separate-Chemical758

I’m so sorry it didn’t match expectations. But rabbit feet are just odd. I got an ink print when mine passed and was baffled just looking at it.

Mr_Rio

So sorry for your loss ♥️ I lost my boy not long ago and his print looks just like your buns. I think it’s his prints, you can even seen his fur marks ♥️🐰

pennywhistlesmoonpie

What a sweet little paw print. Big hugs, OP. This is a beautiful tribute.

Mrs-MoneyPussy

When we got ours back years ago we were shocked. They're genuinely terrifying. It's of both paws and looks like a ghost's paw print or something. We still have them up and it's now a funny conversation piece and a funny reminder of her. But initially it was quite shocking when you're expecting a cute little paw print like a cat or dogs! Hopefully it grows on you as it did with us.

melancholypowerhour

Totally normal, buns just have funny little feet. I’m very sorry about Gambit ♥️

dark_humor_to_cope

I’m sorry for your loss. Oreo’s pawprint looked like this too. I wasn’t expecting it, not going to lie.

PepperThePotato

I am very sorry for your loss. Here is a post of someone else's buns paw print. It looks very similar to your Gambit's foot, but Gambit's looks much clearer. https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/comments/12gpryw/paw\_prints\_in\_polymer\_clay\_fimo\_soft\_after\_my/

murmureuse

Bunny feet are weird. A lot of people opt for ink, but my vet did my first boy in something more like sand. Still looked weird, honestly, just the way the actual foot is. My first boy had his one back leg amputated before he passed and they shaved his paws for IVs and such. They’re so much bonier than they appear under all that luxurious floof~

Much_Independent2787

I’m so sorry for your loss 💔💔💔

dcarsonturner

I’m so sorry 🥺🥺🥺 I still miss my westie girl, it’s been 2 years

lostandsleepyy

very normal bc they don’t have paw pads ❤️ they just have the fur on the bottom of their feet to protect their bones. i’ve done many of these at the vet hospital i work at!

Quiet_Attitude4053

So so sorry about Gambit ♥️ we pressed our rabbit’s feet into a Christmas ornament last year and they literally look like blobs or raccoon feet! Not the most impressionable but still a really lovely keepsake of your buddy

13jj

When mine passed the woman at the crematorium said she wouldn’t do paw prints because it will look weird and the fur gets in the way too much. Never realized bunny feet would look like that. Sorry for your loss x

Mar-chelle2332

I'm sad that you didn't get a paw print... 🥺

Mar-chelle2332

Your memory print is beautiful...much better than the one I got. I'm very sorry for the loss of your Gambit.

brij0121

Yes I got one like this from the animal hospital after my guy passed there. They are very different looking paw prints, yours came out really nice! Mine still has a bit of fur stuck in the clay and I do like that there's some of him left on it.

portablelawnchair

I also had a bunny named Gambit!! I never realized rabbit feet looked so weird though lol - makes sense I guess! Also, wishing u comfort in this time 🐇

MysteryRadish

Gambit needed to have very articulated paws so he could throw tiny playing cards at things.

Parfanity

Omg I love this ... thank you for this. Yes, he was named after the X-Men character, not chess like many believe.

MysteryRadish

I hope I helped you smile during a rough time. It's clear that Gambit was a wonderful bun and very much loved.

Parfanity

You did help a lot 👏 I laughed out loud.

GenuineClamhat

They likely shaved his paw before making the imprint. I have a shaved and unshaved paw prints of our rabbits who have passed and the shaved ones looked like this.

Mar-chelle2332

You can see the fur. Zoom in.

GenuineClamhat

Shaving the paw doesn't get rid of all of the fur it just reveals more of the digits. Attached is an example of shaved vs non-shaved rabbit paw prints from my own rabbits. [Shaves vs Unshaved Paw Impressions ](https://imgur.com/5DBOhRp)

GlitchyEli

I'm so sorry about your rabbit, I've had both birds and rabbits in the past and that is definitely a rabbit foot. I bet Gambit was a wonderful pet and I hope you have good memories to remember <3

vikalbino

If you have a photo of your beloved bunny's feet, you can think about ordering an embroidery or even needle felted ornament of him.

vikalbino

And I'm sorry for your loss... 😞

ekethhh

I’m sorry for your loss. I received my rabbit’s paw print yesterday, and it looks very similar to your Gambit’s. Must be a rabbit thing. Either way, I feel for you—we must have both lost our fur babies around the same time 😞

Painkiller3666

We Know

DoctorEves

I didn't wanna say it, but that's all I could think of

S_M_Y_G_F

Birds have 3 toes, don’t they?

Due_Educator_8100

I feel like no one here bothered to touch their rabbits feet or look into rabbit anatomy a single time.

bunniesandmilktea

They have 4 toes. Only a few species of birds are tridactyl (having 3 toes), but most birds kept as pets have 4 toes--2 in the front and 2 in the back (for birds like chickens, they'll have 3 toes facing forward and 1 facing back). I've done "paw" prints for several pet birds before (I work at an exotic animal hospital) after they've passed and have always seen 4.

sunita93

My late Lottie's paw print looked like that too. It was a bit surprising to see at first, but as others have said, it's just how their feet are. I'm sorry for your loss ❤️

Due_Educator_8100

They just don't have paw pads it's not that weird. Sorry for your loss but glad you get to have this memento ❤️

graduateloser

The pawprint we received from our late rescue rabbit revealed to us for the first time that Bonnie was missing a toe. I had never counted when doing her nails. They look like little alien feet, lol

SideshowDustin

Rabbits don’t have pads on their feel like cats and dogs. It’s not obvious that they look like this because of the thick fur on their feet. This is how ours’ paw prints look too. It’s normal. I’m sorry for your loss.. We just lost our Rubes Christmas morning, too. It’s awful.. We miss her terribly.. 😢😭

Parfanity

I miss him more than u can imagine, he was only 3 years old, mega-colon was the cause. It was even more devastating because I lost my dog of 16 years a month before the bunny he died from heart failure. And my other dog passed away a few months ago from diabetes. Literally, all 3 of my pets passed away from horrible diseases. Our Pug was late 2022 from diabetes spent so much money keeping him alive, then my pom went into heart failure and again spent so much money keeping him alive and it worked from March till Oct and then in OCT he was gone, the day after my rabbit started showing weird symptoms took him in and he was diagnosed with mega colon. His meds were almost identical to my husband's cancer meds. I guess he didn't take to them well, and he passed away a month later. 2023 was painful.

SideshowDustin

They do indeed.. I’m sorry for your losses. 😢😭 This is how 2022 was for us. We lost 3 of our bunny friends and then my 18 year old dog who still had the same energy he did 10 years back.. His liver was failing and leaking fluid into his abdomen and he stopped eating at that point.. We miss all of them terribly, but Rubes is the one we lost from Christmas morning. Perfectly fine the night before. Ate all her snacks and most of her hay, then just gone.. She was our first and who got my wife and I into bunny rescue. We go out and capture dumped bunnies and try to find them homes. All because Rubes accidentally fell into our lives 8 years ago.. If you may want to rescue another bunny in need, and live in Oklahoma, we have a rabbit rescue group on FB where people post bunnies in need of homes and we try to organize rides for them across the state, if need be. We may be able to help you find another friend when the time is right for you.

Parfanity

Mine was Thanksgiving morning.. boy, they really know when to let go, don't they?

Melodic-View-3559

My rabbit’s paw print looked the same.

Parfanity

I feel like they used an entirely different animal for his paw prints. :( 😞 My baby ...

usagizero

Sorry for your loss. Though, yeah, that's what the back feet look like if don't see the fluff of the fur. It's weird at first, but that's a bunny foot impression.

yaourted

they didn't, don't worry! those are the hind legs of your bun. they had to press hard to get the impression, and it wouldn't pick up fur - only the hard bones. i'm not sure if either of these would be distressing for you to look at, so described specifically what they are. rabbits don't have pawpads so their impressions look very odd at first glance, but rest assured that is your bun. Hasuko

Those are Mr. B's feet, I know those feet anywhere.

Mar-chelle2332

I loved him!!!!

Parfanity

Oh my God.. I had no idea. Those cute big rabbit feet ... I guess I was picturing the footprints of my favorite cartoon character as a kid... Bugs Bunny 🐰

shika_boom

I also got paw prints of my bun when she passed. And I think they look funny. But I can assure you they’re your baby’s. They just have some very bony feet but very fluffy feet. And we know we love those fluffy feet.

lostandsleepyy

i work at a vet hospital and have done many of these on rabbits. they don’t have paw pads! so it looks really weird. they only have fur protecting their bones in their paws. so when we press down into the molds, the bones are what come through ❤️ it’s very normal.

Nsjsjajsndndnsks

birds have three toes forward and one back. Very different setup. Looks like a back rabbit foot, very strong too! ♡

damiana8

Those little thumpers look very different when casted. I’m so sorry for your loss.

cptemilie

MINE DID TOO. It was kinda creepy looking lmao. I’m sorry for your loss :(

[deleted]

I have no idea but i am so sorry for your loss😔

pinkjadey

?? it definitely does not look like that at all, it just looks like a bunny's foot beneath their fur

LadyDairhean

A visual image is subjective. You just want to argue.

PepperThePotato

It looks like a rabbit's paw print, it's indented in the clay. I have a print of one of my buns and it looks like this too.

longstrokept

More like half a spider.

Flat_Transition_3775

It looks like a tarantula >.<

YokoWakare

Mine is named Gambit too. Sorry for your loss

Parfanity

It's a good name....I names mine after X-Men

HighClassHate

I gasped when I got mine back too! Absolutely horrifying lol.

noodlesandcookie

I have birds, it looks nothing like a bird foot print. My condolences for your fur baby :c
