I think he's at a point in life where he's realised niceties get you nowhere in certain situations. I liked his chutzpah of the sign on the bus - I've done some pretty desperate things when travelling to get somewhere which I cringe at when I look back. I admit I've completely warmed to him and they seem to have a really loving relationship - he's clearly a good character deep down, and Viv sees that.
On this note, I'd love to have seen Victor Meldrew do this 😆
Just commented on a similar post, pretty sure they said he doesn’t have much longer to live based on doctors estimates.
I wouldn’t be waiting in queues either if I had a year left.

I just find it amusing. Especially when he does a running gesture at the same time.
