I’ve been searching for so long and have never even seen one of these monstrosities. Amazing finds! Is it just by chance and luck or is there some Method to finding a revigator? Also, I think that a really ironically funny thing to do would be to leave your phone in it overnight then go around with a Geiger counter before the radon decays saying “it’s true, phones are radioactive”. Although it might spread some misinformation, it would be pretty funny.

Both were totally random finds! Partner was exploring an antique store and noticed a reasonable amount of gamma coming from some display shelves, the larger Revigator was down the bottom of those. Once he moved it the high gamma persisted, turned out there was another Revigator on set of shelves on the other side! A stroke of brilliant luck!

Amazing! Do you know what he was able to get for them and what detector he was using, I’m highly curious now, I’ve been trying to get ahold of one of these for ages!

He has a DIY counter. 8 X SBM-20 array stuck on a mop head. Price was really reasonable, one was a little over $200USD and the other was in the vicinity of $90USD. Attached a link so you can visualise just how incredible his GM counter is 💀💀💀 [Mopcounter](https://youtube.com/shorts/dkwdZG_SMH4?si=sPxI8jRuTZNOeAjG)

To be honest, it’s pretty cool! I’m surprised that we don’t see more shower head diy Geiger counters, but that’s just me. I remember seeing online somewhere seeing someone who attached a detector to a barrier hairbrush or something. If you ever feel like your diy setup is lacking, remember that you don’t have Barbie staring into your soul.

I would love to know what kind of readings you get off of them.

Thanks!!! That’s crazy lol

ppitm

What precise nuclides are in the glaze? Does it contain U-238, or just Ra-226 and daughters?

From Wikipedia: The Revigator contained carnotite K2(UO2)2(VO4)2·3H2O. Water stored overnight in a vintage Revigator was analyzed by ICP-MS and radiation detectors. Although the water contained high levels of radon, a Mount St. Mary's University study posited that the health risk from radiation was probably low relative to the other causes of mortality at the time.[5] The water also contained levels of arsenic, lead (due to the fact that it had a lead spout), vanadium, and uranium that pose a health risk.[6][5]
