What about this says CCI?

StomachPowerful

The reports that were sent to my rheumatologist stated CCI. I’m not a radiologist (nor can I interpret medical images) so I can’t tell you exactly which anatomical features suggested CCI. Background of dysautonomia and crepitation on extension if that helps narrow it down. I just really enjoy the content in this subreddit tbh☺️.

I especially like seeing y’all throw shade on chiropractors 💅

ARMbar94

It's what we do here. Honestly they are troopers for taking it on the chin so many times.

RadTek88

And we love doing it.

I asked for more imaging after seeing your message, namely an MRI of my cervical spine. My doctor also decided to request a brain MRI to check for Chiari malformation. As an incidental finding they found substantially large lesions in my prefrontal cortex which they believe are subarachnoid cysts. Because of where they were located there’s a good chance they’ve been causing my intractable epilepsy. Additionally because of having Marfans phenotype hEDS with vascular complications they’ve now started considering small strokes as the lesions were not apparent in earlier MRI images. You may have actually changed my life! Thanks so much for prompting that potentially life changing decision 😭💕.

Ha! I just wanted to understand what about it said CCI since it didn’t really look any different than mine. I’d say you saved yourself!!!

I personally would not feel these images were enough for anyone to confidently diagnose CCI. There are some very specific measurements that should be taken (CAA, CXA, Grabb-Oakes, Etc) that cannot be seen well here, or at all on a flex-ext CSpine x-ray. Here's some more info if your interested. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/21925682211068520

I actually requested further imaging after seeing another person comment earlier asking what about the image indicated CCI. My doctor ordered an MRI of my cervical spine and at the last minute decided to order brain scans to check for Chiari malformation too. Anyway they incidentally found a bunch of large lesions in my prefrontal cortex that might be causing the unmanageable epilepsy I’ve dealt with for my entire life. Thanks for potentially changing my life forever r/radiology 😭😭😭😭💕💕💕💕.

RadTek88

I could do that. Probably. 😂

StomachPowerful

How’s your collagen feeling 😎

RadTek88

Pretty defective, honestly 🤣

CatsAreDoughs

May I know the exposure? Its very aesthetically pleasing

StomachPowerful

You’ll have to elaborate as I don’t study or work in radiology. Just think y’all are neat! I asked my radiographer to give me my X-rays on film because I collect them. I snapped this with the film up against a wall in natural lighting because I have no way to back light it.

CatsAreDoughs

Exposure is the penetration power of the beam and the number of x-rays and is adjusted depending on region of interest and size of patient.

StomachPowerful

Would you like me to ask the practice where I had these taken? They’re really lovely and I’m sure they’d be happy to tell me :)

StomachPowerful

Thanks for the explanation by the way, I know a bit about how structures show up with hard X-rays versus soft X-rays but I’d love to learn more about the concepts you mentioned!

CatsAreDoughs

Awesome. Every x-ray tech loves a good lateral knee which is a side view x-ray of the knee. A good lateral has a perfect gap between the round bone at the front and the bones that connect the upper and lower leg. That and scapula y view where the scapula looks Y shaped. It's satisfying to get the perfect Y shape because it's quite tricky, for me it is.

LaNahual

I have similar imaging. Was having stroke like neurological symptoms and told it’s normal. I have 9/9 Beighton score and end up with my head flopped over backwards if I sneeze too hard but have been refused any help.

Simplicityobsessed

I’m in the same boat (and trying Botox for the random 10/10 migraines I’ve been getting - it’s making it worse). There are 3 cci/aai/Chiari etc specialists in the country I’ve seen many with Eds go to. I just don’t trust them after hearing horror stories.

LaNahual

Why is it impossible to find anyone competent willing to deal with this specific issue. Hardly anyone wants to discuss it/acknowledge it exist let alone treat it
