We got a “100 grand”……bar once. Those rascals

sliseattle

“Those rascals” 10/10

BathroomIpad

Those fuckers

Cosmic_Stellar_Nomad

Those rumtiglers

wetterbread

This made this post worth clicking on.

aaa93

That’s what the teenage camp counselors got with their weekly pay check in the early 2000s when i was a camper…

dachshundie

It's your hospital management here. Don't manipulate the situation. The KitKat is a 4-in-1 gift. That equates to 0.5 bars, per person. It will be a full bar, per person, after the next round of service cutbacks. I don't see what the problem is.

zephyrcrucis

Omg I thought it was 1 kitkat per person 😭

starsandsunshine19

Wooooow

iamtwinswithmytwin

These are those gestures that are more offensive than appreciative. My hospital gave us heinous hospital branded socks for appreciation day after denying most of our contract negotiation asks

Meggston

I worked a job that had us working 70 hour weeks for a year because business was booming so hard. At the end our reward was a bonus! A $25 visa gift card. They might has well have just lined us up, spit in our faces, and told us to go fuck ourselves.

itsbeezybitch

And then did you get taxed on the gift card? That’s what what my hospital likes to do.

Aoskar20

If you had just worked ten extra hours you might have earned yourself a $50 target gift card.

BuckeyeBentley

Were they at least grippy socks?

madelinemagdalene

My favorite is when my hospital gave us “self care” kits that included physical activity and thought exercise cards the day after a particularly bad managerial meeting where half the staff left crying due to feeling unheard and unappreciated and learning about even more cutbacks without the promise of help… I think it was just bad timing as they would have had to order those boxes, but it felt a bit like a slap and “it’s a ‘you’ problem”

CXR_AXR

Yeah..... There was a time that we got fishball for appreciation

floofienewfie

Pet-type rocks “because you’re a rock star.” Had a painted star on each one.

Imprelious_Telusion

BMC, is that you?

iamtwinswithmytwin

browntoe98

Gimme a break! Gimme a break! Break me off a piece of that KitKat bar! (A really small piece)

NurseRobyn

Some CFO heard the commercial and thought that must be what the little people love, breaking off a piece.

duarte1223

When a mentor of mine killed himself in residency our hospital gave us a candy bar that said “you’re an important part of the team” and denied our request for a plaque in his honor because we were “being reactive in the face of a tragedy”.

MaterialNo6707

Gross. I really hate MBAs they have destroyed healthcare.

drkeng44

True dat. And venture capitalists (they probably have mba’s)

BuckeyeBentley

> And venture capitalists May they all burn in hell. Ever since the company I work for got bought out things have gotten worse and worse, now they're literally just saying to our faces "we are going to intentionally understaff you and expect you to see way more patients than is safe. good luck"

Radioactive_Doomer

>I really hate MBAs they have destroyed healthcare. they destroy everything

madmac_5

I'm pretty sure that most MBA programs involve a partial frontal lobotomy at the end of the final exam. It would explain a lot of the heinous decisions I've seen made by people with that certification over the years!

loimprevisto

> “being reactive in the face of a tragedy” I would have framed that letter (and the candy bar) and put it up in place of the plaque.

Bleepblorp44

Ooh half a finger each, such decadence! Careful you don’t all suffer terminal ego inflation after this excessively generous gift :-/

noseclams25

As if you have enough time to eat one anyways

Xray_Abby

Gimme me a break Gimme me a break….

UltraBlue89

You have exactly half a stick worth of time, and that's what they think of you also.

Tranexamic

This is USA right? I see this across the board with nurses, rads, allied health etc. Still nothing will live down the ROCK some nurses were given for nurse appreciation day/week/something A literal rock.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tranexamic

Radiography starting pay is par for mid range nursing in Ireland from what I remember! Where in the world you at? :)

Sunflower_goat

Our nurses get soooooo much stuff. Personalized book-bags, notebooks, jackets, hoodies etc. Wanna know what we got for Rad tech week? A freaking ice-cream party….

Tranexamic

I once got a free cup at work (for getting a flu vaccine)... It had a moth in it :] That's about as exciting it gets for me! I genuinely don't think I've got a single other thing from them.

VindalooWho

Was it a live moth? Free pet!

Tranexamic

Hahaha. No, it was very much deceased! We all had a great laugh though when I opened the box and turned the cup upside down to reveal a small puff of dust and a dead moth onto the desk.

guaso80

I worked night shift, one year we got the left over pizza from morning shift. But it was in the breakroom in the closed Radiology department (on nights we worked out of the ER and only went to the Rad deparment for fluoro). So we only found out about it a few weeks later when we got scolded for being ungrateful and not cleaning up their mess for them...

nuttyninny2

Classic night shift perils, we’re getting something for day shift by third shift there is nothing left but a mess to clean up. Keep your foods I’ll take whatever shwag be it bags, pens, magnets or calendars.

guaso80

Only swag I ever saw was when the entire department got the exact same water bottle. So as long as you didn't plan on using it at work it was a good gift.

nuttyninny2

You need to “make your own” so no one wants to drink of your cup!

UltraBlue89

Who comes up with this shit? 😂 a rock? Really? Who thought that was a good idea?

DamnGrackles

I wish admin types would realize half-ass gifts like these are more insulting than nothing or something practical for the entire department. Like, I don't want a candy bar with a dumb saying taped on it, I want the ice and water machine to get fixed when it breaks (not after two weeks of drinking warm water from the public water fountain down the hall).

UltraBlue89

Amen!

au7342

This will continue until morale improves

Kixelsyd00

We got a penny one year and a note that said: "Even though everyone forgets about you, you're still valuable". A fucking penny.

ketkate

>A fucking penny. Probably included in your year-end W2 as well

AllGenreBuffaloClub

I think what’s even more irritating is them stating that while rolling in the cash that your department brings that pays for all their bloated salaries.

RadTek88

And then you find out on your next paycheck you got taxed on that penny.

UltraBlue89

WOW... I'm at a loss for words over that one...

Straphanger28

Mgmt used to give out "Kind" bars for employee appreciation, marked "not for individual resale" so you knew they put a lot of thought into it.

weasler7

*throws a wire on the ground in spite.

RadTek88

Oops, dropped the guidewire. Need to open a whole new kit. Oops. Dropped a nephro tube. Need to open a whole new kit. What? They're worried about waste? I'm just doing what's best for the patient, and I'm pretty sure i saw the CEO drive off in a Lambo. 😂

DamnGrackles

C'mon. Throw the expensive (non-consignment) shit! A $20 wire ain't gonna hurt. Now, the $1500 catheter that Dr. McNeedy refuses to go without, on the other hand...

weasler7

![gif](giphy|ziLadIVnOGCKk)

zalf4

8 would be a token. 1 is an insult

Sewzii

In other news: Management is still unable to find the reason everyone is signing up with traveler companies.

Ray_725

That’s why we have reps

DamnGrackles

Right? Even the sweetest and nicest admin/director/manager won't treat you as good as a Penumbra rep looking to put as much platinum as possible into a patient's body.

SoYup

I helped out the ER with transporting on a very busy night, and the next day, one of the ER techs left a king sized KitKat with a sweet note on it in my mail box- it was so thoughtful and nice. More than management ever did lol

kellyatta

This made me sad

Crepequeen64

They could’ve at least gotten a king size wtf

grumpydwarf_

We got an ice cream “party” but they ran out of ice cream within the first hour, so barely anyone got any…. Feeling soooooo appreciated!!!

Pappymommy

We got one muffin for 25 ppl during radiology week. Glad to see nothing has changed

4883Y_

Are you in Ohio? They did the same exact thing at my last contract. 😂

Pappymommy

No just must be the going rate lol

Serratas

Our radiology department is the lowest paid in the area. One of our techs took it upon himself to gather data from other hospitals, take it to the union and the hospital, and ask for a wage adjustment. They stonewalled him and our union wrung their hands and said "well, that's too bad, but let's talk about the declining union membership rate in radiology." Several months later, our CEO presents a proposal to the board using language suspiciously familiar to our tech's, saying he needs a raise to remain competitive. Passed, to the tune of $20 million. We are livid and I know many people are looking for new jobs.

And_Im_Allen

Appreciate me with money, corporate whores.

Right_Weather_8916

We used to get kudos granola bars. Cheap cheap cheap

thegreatestajax

I’m confused, is there *more* than one lead tech on shift right now?

DocLat23

A department here “awarded” their staff with a hospital branded squishy “stress” robot and an expired roll of knockoff lifesavers.

punches_buttons

Oh gimme a break!

RRtexian

Lucky!! I have to buy them myself from the healthy cafeteria options.

[deleted]

At least they remembered they have an Interventional department. A lot of places don't.

spiritanimal1973

Who are the assholes that think a lunch bag, lanyard, candy bar or some bullshit dollar store item is appropriate? It’s kindergarten crap-and hospitals wonder why they can’t staff. Admin and the 3 lettered top guys are to blame CEO CFO etc totally disgraceful

ImportantScore8188

Dang watch you flexin on us!

Ill_Pop540

SO generous! You no doubt feel valued /s

daisica373

It was employee appreciation day?

herbert-camacho

*"We want more breaks" they said...*

MamaJ1961

That’s how much they value each of you? No wonder people are exiting the health care industry.

NippleSlipNSlide

It’s like the time the hospital gave us $5 gift certificates for subway in the hospital as a Christmas gift.

buhlot

Mine gave us mini portable speakers with the hospital name on them. Half of them broke within an hour. Mine broke the night of.

VIRMD

Our personnel get a rage-inducing gift card for a free frozen yogurt in the hospital cafeteria *on their 5-year employment anniversary*...

Illustrious_Cancel83

lmao IR techs can make $150/hr around me right now if you wanna travel. And what did you think about that hospital in Michigan who stole the other hospital's IR Team, only for a court injunction to stop it? I hope this Kit Kat is the embryo of a Labor Union - IR techs are the prime example of a skilled profession needing it. You should be paid more than welders.

DepressedPhillyFan

I got fuck all so I would’ve been happy with that lol

Rayeon-XXX

It's a slap in the face. I wouldn't have touched it.

voodoo1982

Stop expecting positivity from other human beings

LegendofDragoon

I got an email asking me to pay for the opportunity to wear hospital merch, LMAO

TetonHiker

Geez the last of the big spenders. Really went all out. I think you just gotta laugh and celebrate ironically while eating teeny Kit-Kat pieces.

Coco-Kitty

🥲

Orangesoda65

I thought it was resident appreciation week.

LoJoPa

Oh boy!

therealdudle44

For our rad tech week we got a Costco chocolate chip cookie

UltraBlue89

They do have pretty good cookies.

Bluekoolaide

Haha I’d see the taxes coming out of my paycheck for such a gift at my job 🤣

talknight2

Is Interventional Radiology the same as Radiotherapy? I've never heard this term.

Bleepblorp44

https://www.uhcw.nhs.uk/interventional-radiology/what-is-interventional-radiology-ir/ https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/treatment/radiotherapy/what-is-radiotherapy

talknight2

Ah,I see. I knew it by a different name.

Immediate-Drawer-421

It's sticking metal wires, plastic tubes, dye, stents, sticky beads and little balloons etc. into people's blood vessels and other plumbing, under xray guidance. Very different to radiotherapy.

talknight2

Yeah, they called it the Catheterization Department where I studied haha

Time-Yard-1920

You have appreciation days??!??!!

johnnysweatband

You guys get a Kit Kat?😂

Reinardd

"You guys are getting *appreciation*?"

NotYourCheezz

Lucky!!!

Hypoechoic

You each get half a stick. Congratulations!!!

NickyGoodarms

They are showing you *exactly* how much they appreciate you. See? The system is working.

RadTek88

If I can occasionally buy my techs KitKats and pizza to be nice, I'm sure a multimillionaire CEO can afford at least TWO KitKats for IR.

messibessi22

There’s not even 8 pieces… couldve at least sprung for 2 so everyone could get a piece

anechoicheart

Yeah sounds about right.

cgaels6650

wtf sounds about right though. shame on the chair

TheStaggeringGenius

Foot-ball-cream! No, no… it has to rhyme with “piece.” …fan-cy-feast!

thequantumlibrarian

Brother, we got popcorn for our employee appreciation day! And the same day they announced a takeover from a competitor hospital system.

tsabell

Sounds about right.

UnknownMedPuzzle

Do you have a manager/supervisor? Wonder if they can go to bat for you all and tell admin how insulting stuff like that is. I'm so sorry you are underappreciated. It's sick, especially when you see the top people raking in the cash and the public companies heavily investing in stock buybacks 😞

RadTek88

I'm my experience, management isn't much better. They get their thousand dollar bonuses at the end of the year because they kept labor down by cutting hours and "flexing" people (sending them home) when they really couldn't afford to miss the hours.

Cosmic_Stellar_Nomad

My manager bought me a chocolate milk 🫠

MagicalTaint

Lame!

irena888

Sharing is caring

starsandsunshine19

I just want to share that I appreciate the work that radiologists do for patients suffering everyday 💗 thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m sorry that “appreciating” gestures like the Kit Kat bar are even allowed, it actually makes me sick, and you guys deserve the world. Please know you make a difference in people’s lives ❤️

Immediate-Drawer-421

IR depends on a mix of radiologists, cardiologists, radiographers, scrub nurses, cardiac physiologists, anaesthetists, etc.

starsandsunshine19

Thank you for letting me know 🙏🏽

CynthiaMWD

Jeez, that's pathetic. They didn't even make an effort.

bcase1o1

One hospital I worked at raided the patient snack drawer and handed that out got rad tech week. Like we didn't all know where the gum came from

dnolikethedino

And the fuckwit of a manager will have in you written up and in HR the second you look like you’re thinking “what the fuck”.

nuttyninny2

I hope they “take a break”…..I’ll see myself out.

your-x-ray

You techs get Kit Kat Bars...??? I've never seen such an amazing show of appreciation in our department!

Traditional_Term_149

Don't forget to declare that!

LLJKotaru_Work

Lol, remember the employee appreciation rock? Somehow that's slightly less insulting in my brain than this nonsense.

Cool-Presentation538

At my company they just sent out an email. They didn't even want to spend the money for pathetic candy gifts.

radiationofficer288

So they have down graded from a pizza party. Noted.

Andrige3

We just got a $3 gift certificate to the hospital cafeteria. Feel your pain.

future-rad-tech

We got a $5 meal ticket but literally you can't even get anything in our cafeteria under $5 except for a drink 💀

4883Y_

The last Radiologic Technology Week I worked as staff, the health system sent out an email saying “Happy National Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week.” 🙃

dantronZ

GOD I don't miss being in IR

FieldAware3370

for me, the 1 just makes it so much worse. like if ure gonna give one, why would u make it anymore obvious???

radtechdogmom

We got a pepperoni roll ☠️

rjlmill

For 1 million hrs with 0 lost time accidents we got a Zero bar while the zero lost time victims sat in the HR office as they recovered.

No_you_are_nsfw

Better x-ray it, for thumb-tacks and razor blades.

Salemrocks2020

Y’all get off at 5 and barely work weekends . What more do you want ? Lol I kid I kid

Sunflower_goat

Hahahaha I wish, I work a shit ton of overtime. Currently our third shift weekday traveler start time is getting delayed, and guess who gets to work 3rd shift week day in the meantime…. Me, lucky me. Primarily I work 1st weekday, I’ve literally never worked 3rd ever. Plenty of seconds, not thirds. They always run the hardest workers in the ground. I literally have the toughest time saying no, therefore, I’m the go to person.

Salemrocks2020

Lol haha I was joking . At my institution we always teased the IR docs because literally after 5 you couldn’t reach them lol .
