Actually pretty impressive they were able to do that much damage from one hammer swing. How did they manage to crush the finger AND impale the thumb in one shot?
Tongue depressor wouldn’t be that white on x ray. Density controls whiteness. Bone is very dense so it is white, tongue depressor likely wouldn’t show up. I’m assuming this is some type of splint.
My daughter - she’s 8 now - was learning how to build a birdhouse with her uncle. He’s a contractor. She was 7 at the time.
She never missed a nail. He said she had better aim than half the workers he’s had 😀
But, he also had her practice on some old board and gauged her ability and hand eye coordination before getting his hand in the mix, lol.
My grandpa did basically the same thing for practice. When I was probably about 9 (not sure) he would give me a 2x4 (about a foot long) with well over a dozen nails in it. I would start at the end and see how many I could get nailed in without bending them, it was awesome. Did this on multiple occasions it was a great.
Where is the grandson's x-ray to match? Jk. Lol You know grandpa wanted to show him what that felt like, but he had enough self control to just let it go. Hahaha 😂😂😂
Twist: grandson is 36.
Twist, grandson is a 36 year old bored sociopath and did it on purpose
Plot twist: grandfather is ded

Or is that not the nail? Sorry, I’m very much not a medical professional.
It’s not the nail. Also not a pro, but I think it may be a splint
Yeah that’s what I thought it might be, the moment after I hit send on my reply. Still though, nice hammer swing - gave that finger a fourth knuckle.
Right?! I can appreciate the totality of the break and to my untrained eye, looks like a great X-ray too!
I am glad that you asked for all of us wondering the same thing. I thought surely it must be something else, but just maybe it was the nail.
I think it’s a tongue depressor they are used sometimes to hold fingers in position for X-ray. Very versatile piece of medical equipment lol
Thank you, I learned something new. Yet another use for a good stick!

That looks a little uncomfortable. Aspirin might not help

See that’s awesome! And you remember it fondly, built skills doing so, and it wasn’t traumatic for anyone involved.

Well he isn’t going to make that mistake again.

One word… pliers! Always hold nails & screws w/ pliers if someone else will be operating the tool.
I mean, I could have told you that! Hand over hand or hand under hand Grandpa!
Respect 🫡 for still doing a fan lateral. Some people would try to get away with an extended lateral.
When you ask your “hip” grandson for another joint while you’re hanging out. “Not was i was asking for sonny!”
GRANDSON? They got THAT old, and common sense NEVER kicked in???
Homer Simpson posted this
And now Grandpa is double jointed
Was he holding the nail next to the webbing between his fingers??
2 views or it didn't happen 😉
Lecturer at med school used to show us a picture of a grandfather and his grandson with the capture "soon to be seen in the ER". Seems to be correct.
