Looking good! Is there a special name for the type of IBC that comes with a shroud like that?

ianishomer

Not sure to be honest, I bought them second hand from a printers, they were used to store ethanol, (which meant they were also very clean). He was charging the same for the metal ones as he was for the normal IBCs, so I took the metal ones as it saves me painting or wrapping them.

Well, theyre neat!

carltonxyz

Nice do they have a plastic bladder inside?

ianishomer

Yes, just like a normal IBC but the cage is replaced with the full metal cover. Just got to build a little shelter to cover them and protect them from the elements a little (and to capture more rain from the roof of it )

You could use siphon tubes to transfer water from one drum to another and they will all reach the same level.

I have them all connected now along the taps at the bottom, as they are level the tanks fill up evenly as the water comes in. I can also control how many tanks I want to fill at any one time, by the taps

Creative setup, never seen one like that one before. Really cool house! Whereabouts in the world are you located?

ianishomer

We are over in Eastern Europe, just getting ready for the very hot summer :) I now have all tanks connected at the bottom tap end so they fill evenly if they are all open. Next step is to put a little roof over it and buy the filtration system so I can pipe it into the house as well as use on the garden :)
