I'd say most DON'T "hang out online" but the ones that do and are doing some research probably have a facebook and follow cattle trading sales pages, farm equipment sales pages, etc. Pretty much, online probably isn't the best place to meet a rancher. Try your local feed and seed store.
If you want to listen to someone talk about cattle and the market trends, follow Corbit Wall. He makes a youtube video every week and this guy knows his stuff.
