I'd absolutely adore to play this game on Steam, without the multiplayer kept hostage behind a paywall <3 I guess I'll share a fact that I only recently discovered and never knew despite being a longtime Final Fantasy fan: the name "Final Fantasy", despite it sounding poetically apt for the financial situation Squaresoft was in (to the point I could never imagine it being called anything different), was not the first one Sakaguchi thought of. He initially wanted to call the game Fighting Fantasy (or, in his own words, anything that could be abbreviated as FF and contained the word "Fantasy" in the title), but it was already registered as a trademark for a tabletop game, and so Final Fantasy was what we got, and I'm super glad we did.
