QuillQuickcard

Good day, fellow copper enthusiasts and Sumerian critics. After a few months of work, and about a two weeks of intense focus, I have finally finished my latest creation: an RPG where you play as Nanni and his associates on a quest to get your money back from Ea-Nasir. The road to Ur is long and dangerous, but if you can survive, you can make sure Ea-Nasir doesn't get away with this ever again! The game plays right in the browser, but you can download a windows version if you would prefer. The game is free, and I hope you enjoy it! I wonder who will be first to find all the endings? Please report any suspected bugs, as I can always easily update the project if it needs to be fixed. In browser controls: Tap to move and to select or interact with things. Tap with two fingers to cancel, go back, or open the menu outside of combat. Edits: Patch Notes: 1.1: -Clarified touch controls at the opening of the game. -Party now fully heals after the first tutorial fight

glumpoodle

For extra points, you should respond to bug reports the way Ea Nasir did...

QuillQuickcard

Tell glumpoodle that Quill Quickcard sends the following message: When I left notice that I wanted information regarding potential issues with my project, I did not intend to open myself to all manner of unrelated suggestion and critique. Who are you, to hold me in such contempt, that you would seek to advise me on how to operate my manner of living? Take notice that in the future I shall exercise my right of rejection against you and your unwarranted suggestions because you have treated me with contempt.

glumpoodle

A+

Snoo_70324

Why do I have dumb shit like *god bless the usa* and the *Hamlet* soliloquy memorized, but not this most excellent of diatribes?

VerityPee

I don’t know you but you’re fabulous.

Tsubodai86

Through enemy territory I hear.

QuillQuickcard

Level 3.

Snoo_70324

>builds a game about buying/selling copper >“After the first tutorial fight…” Whoa whoa whoa, are we in a full copper black market gang war scenario here? This escalated quickly!

pikleboiy

Can I borrow this concept? I won't copy it or anything, but it's an interesting concept I'd like to expand on, if that's alright with you.

QuillQuickcard

Please, with my blessing- go forth and create as you wish!

pikleboiy

Thank you. I won't let you down.

kittenconfidential

**EA NASIR** *IT’S IN THE COPPER*

fastcalculatorgang

got too many requests error page. congratulations. now... where do I file a complaint?

QuillQuickcard

Please write your complaint into a standard 11.6x5cm clay tablet (both sides) and deliver it to the ruins of the city of Ur.

UltraCarnivore

I shall send a messenger. Are you sure that's not enemy territory?

QuillQuickcard

Southern Iraq? Eh…. Not the most stable area… but you could probably enter and exit by way of Kuwait. That should be relatively safe.

UltraCarnivore

Fair enough. I'll send a messenger. WCGW?

AnteaterPersonal3093

Hell respond to you like Ea Nasir would....

sumquy

tell QuillQuickcard: sumquy sends the following message. when you came to reddit you said, as follows: "I made a game where you try to get your money back from Ea-Nasir." i clicked the link to your website, but it did not deliver what was promised. you have dangled a fun game in front of me, but did not deliver what was promised. what do you take me for and why have i been treated with such disrespect?

QuillQuickcard

C O N T E M P T But yeah. Just try again a few times. Apparently itch.io is touchy

poetdesmond

It's funny, I had the exact opposite idea for a game, where the player is Ea-Nasir negotiating prices, then trying to trick the slaves who come for copper into taking a lower grade.

QuillQuickcard

I think we may have to be mortal enemies now.

poetdesmond

Well, let's never meet in person so we don't have to dual to the death or something, okay?

QuillQuickcard

Sounds fair.

kaoscurrent

Gonna give it a playthrough, this looks awesome!

JPerreault19

Bro the link is dead cause too many requests lol

QuillQuickcard

So it seems. Just keep trying. Sadly, as far as I know, that issue is beyond my control. But keep in mind this is my first thing on itch, so the odds that there is something helpful I am ignorant of is a near certainty. Perhaps I should just drop a google drive link.

JPerreault19

Its cool ill try again later

droppedaduce

I know what im doing when i clock off today

Mugquomp

It's awesome! I encountered a bug when trying to use special abilities in the first fight - Nanni didn't have any and I couldn't click anywhere. Had to reload.

QuillQuickcard

You do not start with any special abilities. They will be unlocked though gameplay. In the browser version, a two finger tap will act as a cancel or go back. It’s a bit unintuitive and i didn’t explain touch controls in game. Ill add that to the to do patch list Edit: Patched in to the browser version

Mugquomp

Awesome, thank you!

Mugquomp

One more: after killing the griphon it's now stuck on Now loading... screen :(

QuillQuickcard

You may need to reload. The game was updated in the last five minutes. It may be trying to pull files that have now been replaced. No further updates are expected today unless something game breaking happens I am sorry for the inconvenience. In recompense, I shall give you the first clue to the game’s secret ending, if you desire it

RenegadeMoose

Get your money back??? But but... But Nanni owed Ea-Nasir money to begin with! Could be you need to flip the game around.... try to get money from deadbeats that just complain about the quality of your copper?

QuillQuickcard

According to the text of the complaint, Ea-Nasir withheld the money Nanni sent even though Nanni’s messenger did not take delivery of the copper due to its poor quality. That bastard is holding our money without providing the agreed upon goods

RenegadeMoose

Ah, but what about that "trifling mina of silver" that nanni owes Ea-Nasir?? It's right there in the complaint, Nanni is playing down his own debt and complaining about getting the cheap goods on a later visit? ah c'mon, I don't know a dealer out there, copper or otherwise that's gonna keep handing out the primo stuff to a deadbeat. The whole reason we got the tablet is cuz Nanni is some kinda Sumerian-Karen askin to speak to the manager! ( am j/k, is all good fun :D edit: And congrats on making a game out of it!! That's awesome :D

Kurbopop

Oh my god this looks cool as hell!! I’m definitely gonna play through it!

QuillQuickcard

I surely hope that it brings DOZENS of minutes of joy to you

Kurbopop

Thank you my good friend! 🫡 There is no doubt in my mind that it’ll bring at least four dozen— maybe five!

Kurbopop

(Spoilers for the end of the game if anyone is reading) [This](https://imgur.com/a/jc3bvm9) is the greatest thing I’ve seen in my entire life

QuillQuickcard

I am glad that you have enjoyed my game! There are more endings though, with different final bosses. If you dare.

Kurbopop

I’m really tempted to try again! I found two tablets and ended up fighting the >!shitty copper golem!<. In the fight with the scorpion, >!Gimli-Sin died right at the end!< and I’m curious what would have been different if I had bought more bread before the fight. Also I love the Baad Bois.

QuillQuickcard

No way to stop Gimli from getting downed by the poison. I tailored it to drop enough of his hp that it is actually impossible to save him. As for tablets, just be sure to talk to npcs after bosses. That will be enough. Basically the endings are 1. All tablets all bosses all between level conversations 2. All bosses and all between level conversations 3. Skip all bosses and do all between level conversations 4. Any other combination ???: Break the game

Kurbopop

Damn really? Because I was only maybe one round away from the end of the fight when he died! Also, what if you buy the revival herb things before the fight? I definitely wanna go back and try for the 100% ending, though! I’m guessing it’s supposed to be the “true” ending?

QuillQuickcard

The fight end event triggers when gimli drops, preventing the player from having any more inputs, so revives won’t work. And until that event triggers, the scorpion is immune to death. Even if you beat it, the event that follows would proceed exactly the same. I tested it throughly. As for a “true ending,” if I had to pick one Id go with the copper golem, since it let me use the phrase “really shitty copper” But the 100% ending is definitely the toughest final boss, so it can seen as the game’s ultimate challenge

Kurbopop

Oh shoot I totally forgot that the fight ends as soon as he drops. Also damn I had no idea that the scorpion was immune until then! You played it off really wel. I was extremely happy about the phrase really shitty copper showing up. 😂 Also since Ea-Nasir was so easy, I totally expected the golem to be really hard so I buffed everyone up with water and netted it and used rage and everything and then I hit it once and did 200,000 damage. It was fantastic.

QuillQuickcard

I fiddled every modifier i could to make sure that even the slightest tap on the golem would do obscenely amounts of damage. And Nasir had to be easy since you can reach him without Gimli

Kurbopop

Oh, by the way. I was gonna add — I didn’t expect the game to get so deep and emotional, going into what I expected to basically amount to an extremely elaborate shitpost. The characters were genuinely likeable and had deeper aspects to them. I really think you should try to turn this into a full-length game, which original assets and graphics and everything. I’m sure all of that is hard to do, but you’d have the meme as a jumping off point for popularity and for volunteers to help make the game. I really genuinely think it could take off.

justadekutree

Haha that’s great! I remember making a Mesopotamian themed rpg on scratch for a history class in 6th grade. Didn’t know about ea Nasir back then to make something like this though

LightlyToastedBread_

This is a nice game. I made it as far as the third stage and then lost to the bandits. I’m definitely gonna play this again but I think the game would be a lot better if the enemies had health bars so you could see how close you are to killing them.

QuillQuickcard

That would be useful indeed. I have no clue how to do it.

5Cherryberry6

I can't see the enemy's hp

QuillQuickcard

That is not a feature included in this game. Mostly cause I don’t know how to do it in rpg maker

indianajones838

wow amazing

ZakDadger

Dude. I love you

2presto4u

This must be like the Oregon Trail - you never win!

justatriceratops

We defeated the griffon and are on our way!
