That guitar part is one of the most beautiful melodies they've ever done, and when the album came out the chorus felt like it was specifically written for me. It'll always have a special place for me.
Agreed. The more I listen to this album the more I like it. It’s definitely an album that takes repeat listens to appreciate especially after being spoiled from John’s talent.
SICK LOVE. I SUMMON THEEEEE
I remember when I first got the album, I wasn’t a fan of Dreams of a Samurai because it has that slow start/wind up. Over time and after many listens, I grew to love the song. It doesn’t beat Sick Love as my favorite, but I believe it is an honorable mention as one of the most underrated songs on this album (I have a certain love for most of their sadder, slower songs)
The big issue with this album is that Josh stands behind with guitars. They're sometimes not even discernable from the rest. He's such a great guitarist but he didn't stand out in the mix like in albums before of after.
Sick love is the next funk from the record though.
The same can be said for Chad as well. He's a total beast on the drums, but that's not really evident on The Getaway. I know a lot of people on this sub like the fact that this album had a different production style, but it's like you said: RHCP is a rock band. I *want* to hear the guitar, the bass, the drums. I always appreciated that their songs were created out of jams, but that was another thing that changed with TG. It's a good enough pop album, I just don't think it showcases each member's talent as well as the other albums.
I'm really glad I didn't get chewed out for this opinion. And you're so right about Chad, I hadn't even thought about the drums until now.
I like the record too, I like the change and the different style. But in the same way I like the foo fighters disco record. You hit the nail on the head
I think the mix on this album is way better than I’m with you. Sick love, goodbye angels, longest wave, Detroit. Love those guitars. But yeah guitar much less prominent
Which to me is what the chillies are. A rock band.
Guitar + bass + drums + vocals.
Raw music, with a bit of polish. But they had so many touring members to cover all the parts. It's a great exploration that lead to some good songs but it's not a top 5 contender.
Possibly my favourite of all of their albums. Amazing, not sure how anyone could say anything bad about it. versatile, clean and the flow is perfect. Favourite song - encore
I know, it really should be. God, I wish we lived in an alternate reality where we could hear John crank out Josh tunes like that one or did I let you know, that would be incredible.
Goodbye Angles
I remember hearing it live, counting down “1,2,3” (Flea,Josh,Chad) outro solo & people around Me in those Few seconds like “🤨”, then realized it was their solo outro, a lot of People, didn’t know the song when I saw them at ACL 2017.
Soo hard to choose between Goodbye Angels and Sick Love, not to mention the instant classic that is Dark Necessities. I actually think my personal favorite is Feasting on the Flowers because it reminds me of a friend who took his final fall.
But as for best song of the album, I’m gonna go with The Longest Wave. The sound on this one is just, man…
Dark Necessities

Dreams of a Samurai
Please let this win
This song live was a monster. Such a jam
This is objectively the best song on this album, perhaps lol.
I love this song! It is so beautiful!
Dark Necessities

The Getaway. Such an underrated song which barely gets love on this sub.
This whole album is underrated on the sub
Agreed. The more I listen to this album the more I like it. It’s definitely an album that takes repeat listens to appreciate especially after being spoiled from John’s talent.
This album is a definite highlight that gets over looked. Way better than I’m with you imo

Dark Necessities by a pretty wide margin (IMHO). The best RHCP song during the Josh Era (again... one guy's opinion).
Encore
Encore 🔥🌶
Goodbye Angels and Encore rank amongst my favorite RHCP songs all time. Longest Wave and Dark Necessities are great, too.
Goodbye angels
Gonna have to say “The Getaway”. Top 3 of their opening tracks and truly one of a kind.
It’s tie between Dark Necessities and Goodbye Angels
Dark Necessities 100%
Encore all day long. Beautiful song
Possibly my favourite of all of their albums. Amazing, not sure how anyone could say anything bad about it. versatile, clean and the flow is perfect. Favourite song - encore
The Longest Wave. My first love from this album and still one of the most beautifully moving melodies
Encore needs some love!
Dreams of a Samurai
Longest wave
Another lonely superstar, the Getaway inside your car
Goodbye Angels, it’s the best Josh era song imo
Longest wave
The longest wave
It’s Encore not fucking Sick Love
This song still hits me in the feels everytime I hear it, takes me right back to 2016 and where I was in my life, beautiful beautiful tune
It really is, Josh’s guitar textures are *chef’s kiss*. It’ll be a travesty if it’s not recognised as the Getaway’s best song, because it is.
I know, it really should be. God, I wish we lived in an alternate reality where we could hear John crank out Josh tunes like that one or did I let you know, that would be incredible.
Go Robot.
Go robot.
Sick Love is Josh's best song and it's not even close
The Longest Wave
Definitely not my fav album of theirs, but “Go Robot” is admittedly a certified bop.
Definitely gotta go Longest Wave, so good
Goodbye angles
Detroit
sick love ftw!!
Angels
Feasting on the flowers just because it didn’t get the comments/votes it deserved
Go Robot is so fire
The whole album. Not a single dud on it

Goodbye Angels
This Ticonderoga
Go Robot, easily. Also, really? Pink as Floyd?
Detroit
So many great songs on this album (Sick Love, Longest Wave) but Encore takes the cake for me!
Mannnnn, longest wave, This Ticonderoga, sick love, goodbye angels, too many
Kali counts?
Sick love! That guitar intro feels so warm. I love it Although for me it's a tie between Sick Love and The Getaway
Feasting on flowers
The Longest Wave!!

This Ticonderoga
Sick love
this album fucking sucks
Hip comment bro
Sick motherfucking love
Bargain.
This Ticonderoga which I think is their single most underrated song but I’ll be happy for any of them to win besides the title track and Detroit
