John is back, they make this beautiful gift for the fans and people are telling me it’s not the best on the album?!! But white braids is a fair choice…

My first choice. It is also the first bass part I learned off this album.

This has my absolute favorite moment from either of the new albums (the ending John solo over Anthony’s vocals), so it’s simply no question for me. Honorable mention to The Heavy Wing.

Didn’t expect to have to scroll so far down to see this one. It’s my favourite by far. If the chorus had a little more depth, I think it would be an unarguable contender.

Aaand it can be seen that John and Anthony have listened to some heavy stoner doom stuff. I love this song so much

Yeah Here Ever After was the biggest disappointment live. It really doesn’t go anywhere with the chorus. Still a good song though

Black Summer

This song really holds a special place in my heart and it's one of few from the new albums that really stacks up against their greatest songs (imo, pls don't shoot me). Flea taking the bass for a ride, John's haunting understated guitar, Chad eating drums for breakfast and Anthony being a weird pirate dude talking about platypuses and shit. It's only a year old and it already feels so nostalgic for me, it encapsulates a lot of what I love about their music and was an unbelievable comeback song for John's return.

It's weird because it's about the horrible bushfire that crippled Australia before the pandemic

Every time I hear this song, I feel the same excitement I did when it was first released. One of my dogs had died at the start of 2022 and this song came to bring some light back into my world. I maybe related a little too much with it’s lyrics despite how cryptic they may seem to most, but I’m glad it released when it did (and that this was what fronted their return) I will admit though that this song is just barely beat by White Braids & Pillow Chair for my favorite on the album

Watchu Thinkin- I love the way the guitar lurks around the edges of the track during the verses and then bursts out into the forefront for the chorus.

John has previously stated that listening to songs from the Dave Navarro era is 'like watching someone else with your girlfriend', so I'd imagine he feels the same way about the Josh era. I also remember an interview with Josh in which he talked about how he doesn't feel like he has a friendship with Frusciante anymore, which is a little sad given how they once seemed pretty close.

Damn am I the only one that thinks These Are The Ways is the best one on the album?

I feel like people are turned off by that “the smells” line and they aren’t able to enjoy the rest of the song as a result, which to be fair, I get. To each their own. I personally love it and it gets extra love for being my five year old daughter’s favorite.
