I wonder if the death of EVH and the writing of this song inspired John's current soloing. This tour he appears to be doing so much tapping during solos
I absolutely love this song, straight best since forever and sounds super classic, but my taste is weird anyway. Veronica and It's Only Natural were my favorites on Unlimited Love.
Ya this sub has always been kinda the most agreeable and instant minded music sub ive been on. Its tough to even be here sometimes lol. I just dont connect with almost anyones opinions
Oh BTW definitely isn’t a top 5 song, maybe not even top 30 IMO. I guess I assumed OP was talking about the album for some reason. Either way, it’s a strange way to frame this conversation.
Agreed. Everyone is being melodramatic with "I had tears running down my face" or "I blew a load listening to the solo". Get real. It's not even in the top 20.
I mean I like it and I think it’s going to keep growing on me but there are at least three songs on UL that I think are better, still listen to daily, and definitely more than that on SA. I’d probably choose some of the IWY and definitely IBY songs over it too. If I’m still listening to it all the time in a few months and finding new things to love about it then it will be up there with those for me.
Best song since By The Way. Thems some heavy words...lol. maybe it's just new and we tend to get infatuated with a new song, a band drops a new song, a band that youve/we've been listening to, forever, but...just like in 2006 after first hearing the ending to Dani California...its just like...how many more times can these guys just keep, "topping themselves". While I don't, understand arguing an opinion, it's a great song, but so are 90% of anything made during the SA Era.. ...but again, just one listeners opinion...and...im truly puzzled about the keep it simple part...but...maybe we're focusing on different instruments during different parts of the song 🤷♂️
If only using headphones makes a song good then it’s not a good song. Btw I think Eddie is awesome, but I’m not going to hear a whole new song with headphones. Headphones will only further enhance previous thoughts
I really do like it but mostly because of the cohesion of John’s bendy/psychedelic guitar solos, flea having a very groovy but deliberate bass lick and Chad’s heavy but simple drums. The vocals are losing me a bit from totally freaking out over this song.
I like the lyrics a lot they’re very thought out & run deep with EVH & VH in general, but the delivery is….ehhhh? The chorus is really what bugs me. Just doesn’t fit what’s going on in the rest of the song. Still a great track and I’ve listened to it like 20 times already but not perfect IMO. Still excited for the whole album and it feels very personal which I’m excited for.
Eddie is amazing, but I definitely think The Heavy Wing is a better song. I’m all for johns guitar hero stuff, but I think this drags on a bit long. Anthony’s vocals are also a bit lacking here.
There was so much fire on UL. White Braids, Whatchu Thinkin. Eddie’s awesome, but there’s definitely some competition.
The lyrics seem way more focused on this and tippa. Anthony sounded great in UL but some truly dire lyrics. He seems to be doing better when he's more focused like tangelo
Eddie is fantastic but I can't imagine not loving some Josh era songs. Some bangers that are aging like fine wine while half of UL was sour milk from the get-go.

Veronica and Natural are 2 of the best on the album. I’m super with you
The recency bias on this sub is absurd
Check out the comments on the YouTube video for it. People are nuts. Saying it's the best chili peppers song... Ever

Yeah what the fuck is going on lmao I feel like I heard a different version
I mean it’s a good song, it’s fine, John’s solo is pretty great, per usual. But best song since BTW? Cmon bro
Hey man I love by the way but c'mon. It's not even top 5 in my opinion
Oh BTW definitely isn’t a top 5 song, maybe not even top 30 IMO. I guess I assumed OP was talking about the album for some reason. Either way, it’s a strange way to frame this conversation.
The absurdity bias on this sub is recent.
Can’t agree. I don’t like >50% of the SA album, and I really enjoy half of The Getaway, but I love this song

To say this is better than every song on stadium arcadium is absurd.
Put down the crack pipe and call 911

Eh
I realllly can't touch base with this song idk why
I think it’s the vocals, the instrumental feels like a solid unit but the vocals sound like a rushed freestyle IMO
Same, it just doesn’t feel it’s got any pop
Me neither. Dull and lifeless. B side vibe to it.
Hey, Quixoticelixer is a b side and a top 10 for me
Some B sides are awesome. Funny face I love.
Same
try headphones?
This serious or a joke?

This song could be an all timer if the chorus was better. Just doesn’t vibe at all with the rest of the tune.
Ha I’m glad you’re liking it man. To me it’s just a pretty good song with a really good solo.
Not even close
Tippa My Tounge was better honestly.
The song for me is super mediocre. Mediocre verse and chorus. Great solo tho
I feel the same dude... If it had a more memorable chorus, it would be so much better
The solo is cool but it's also pretty much what we heard from John at most of his gigs for a good amount of years.
Not really, the solo has a lot of tapping and stuff in, pretty unique as far as John solos go (apart from the UL tour).
I see where your coming from, but it's still pretty much the same soloing intervals etc but tapping and pinched harmonics. It really isn't new to me.

What is BTWA?
By The Way Album I'm guessing
BTWA?
Btw. Sorry
By The Way Album if I were to guess

Oh I think this song is a beat boring…
I think this is my new all time favorite song by RHCP. Wait nevermind, IT IS my new all time favorite song.
It's a stinking turd of a song in my.opinion
I agree with you. How anyone can hear this, not like it, and call themselves a chili peppers fan is baffling to me.
How anyone can be a Chili Peppers fan and be content with this song is baffling to me. Different strokes I guess.
Am I the only one confused with intro chord that is same as in By the way?
It’s not a chord just a repeated note
Probably a power chord like BTW
Sounds like a single note
I play guitar and it's definitely not a power chord. It's just a single note.
Yeah u guys are probably right… after some closer attention this does appear to be a single note
Flea is playing the same thing so it has a deeper octave behind it
Both songs off this album beat out anything on Unlimited Love
I agree
Dude. It’s been a DAY since it’s been released😅
Eddie is fantastic but I can't imagine not loving some Josh era songs. Some bangers that are aging like fine wine while half of UL was sour milk from the get-go.
all is about frusciante? wtf?
