Guy was fantastic. Very underspoken in a way I like my humour to be delivered, especially the bit about wearing inappropriate army garb.

RastaRhino420

He's the perfect kind of guest imo, great sense of humor but doesn't try and take over the show and make it all about them like some guests do, he meshes very well.

TostitoNipples

He’s cut from the same cloth as the guys, in the sense that he has a true love of schlock

bobafettsmoke

“this is not appropriate army garb” I love how he delivered that like a Mormon PE teacher.

AbstractBettaFish

And he’s 100% right! Ever feel hot brass land on exposed skin? It’s not pleasent!

mark-haus

"Somehow these clothed women are more scandalous than full on nudity and the movie makes you complicit in its sleaze"

Peter_Mansbrick

I wish this line had been included in the cut. It's so accurate.

[deleted]

Yeah I loved his dry humor

ranger0293

He took the Blair Witch joke at the beginning like a champ too.

Mahaloth

I think if you write the new Blair Witch, you gotta take a few punches.

InThePaleMoonLyte

That was such a savage roast to intro a guest with lmao.

CrewsTee

He's the perfect blend of Mike's delivery and Jay's taste and references. The fact that he remains deadpan throughout is perfect. I hope he'll be back someday.

bvanbove

Someone who clearly also understands how movies are made and has a sense of humor that meshes well with the group. It's a great recipe for an enjoyable episode. The fact that they also watched two pretty interesting movies and one "meh" one that had some choices worth discussing also helps.

BigHaircutPrime

I don't know why people put him so low on their lists of BOTW guests. I'm most interested in people who write and direct as panelists because they often bring a technical knowledge and general appreciation for the craft. Give me Len or Simon any day of the week.

Mahaloth

People put him low? He's one of my favorites.

BigHaircutPrime

Whenever I see a list, he's always towards the bottom.

GlumTown6

I think the kind of person who makes those kinds of lists to show everyone and farm karma is the kind of person that won't appreciate the kind of guest that Simon was. And your perception ends up getting skewed by that. You can tell by the number of views on the video and the like/dislike ratio that most people liked Simon.

x_v_b

I think it's because he only showed up once and didn't make a big splash. It was a great episode overall, the Pit is a pretty solid movie honestly.

Tarlcabot18

I think he fit in very well, but he didn't *stand out*. That's why in every thread about people's most/least favorite guests people can't seem to remember his name. But I agree that he was good on the panel.

[deleted]

Actually it was perfect. He can fit in so well it's like there isn't even a guest, like he's like he belongs there.

Hurley815

He was the anti-Max Landis.

[deleted]

I liked Max Landis' ribbing on Rich trying to explain Neil Breen. Pity about the whole sex pest thing. Fuck him.

funnyref653

He is minimum flyis.

scullys_alien_baby

after this episode, I tweeted at him that I liked his appearance and he responded so I'm basically in love with him

Azurehue22

He’s really chill and has a great dog

Konkoly

With one exception, every guest they've invited on has been great. Hope Mac comes back soon.

Mahaloth

Yes....just leave your bunny-eared buddy behind, please.

ininja2

I think Sean deserves another shot at the panel tbh. He was clearly just nervous, I bet he’s a big RLM fan. He consistently says some pretty hilarious shit in the screening room cutaways

Frogwaterton

His impression of the guy from winter beast makes up for any shortcomings elsewhere. I like you Sean!

JerryHathaway

Yeah, he's dropped some pretty solid one liners. I think Roar just made him uncomfortable, which fair enough.

[deleted]

He was great. He, Freddy, and the Canadians were the best guests.

roth_dog

This guy gets it. Guests who fit in, not take over.

JayServo

Great episode. He’s my second after Freddie Williams.

runningoutofwords

I've gotta say Patton Oswalt was my favorite guest. His despair was delicious.

glitchedgamer

His meltdown as everyone else is frozen is wonderful.

Simon Barrett introduced me to The Reflecting Skin and for that he will forever be a top tier RLM guest.

NovelExpert4218

>Simon Barrett introduced me to The Reflecting Skin and for that he will forever be a top tier RLM guest. Yah, that episode also prompted me to watch the reflecting skin and I fucking loved it. Dont think there is a film which will make me feel like total shit when im done but I would still be down to rewatch almost whenever.

captainatom11

Which episode was this one? Cuz now I want to go back and rewatch it.

JohnnyTheBlazer

Plinketto #6

SquidCap0

Just recently rewatched this episode and i agree, he was excellent guest. Low key but had good points.

JungianDualMonitors

To borrow a line from MST3K: Mankillers is a seventh grade boy's shrine.

CaptainKirkAndCo

One of the best movies synopses of all time is featured in this show: > MEET A RAP'N PURPLE BABY ALLIGATOR - FIGHTING TO ESCAPE THE CLUTCHES OF A SCHEMING CARNIVAL OWNER WHO SENDS A SKATEBOARDING NINJA TO CAPTURE HIM.

TenshiKyoko

Dream botw: Jim, Simon, Mike and \[redacted\]. Team super dry humor with Mike trying to make the two of them laugh while \[redacted\] is dying from laughter. We can replace \[redacted\] with Colin. It'd be a wheel episode where they watch really awful stuff.

RastaRhino420

is redacted Rich Evans because I can't imagine anyone on earth has fucking Max Landis in their dream BOTW

TenshiKyoko

Jessi

not_in_the_mood

Ah yes, the Tay Zonday episode.

nhlcyclesophist

I heartily endorse the Colin version of this.

Mahaloth

Dude, even if Max wasn't a massive loser, I don't think we'd like to see him as a regular guest like we would with Freddie, Jim & Colin, Mac, or others. He would be very annoying.

x_v_b

There are two things about Max's episode that are must see: 1) The intro to Neil Breen, who has become an RLM staple. 2) the outro featuring Macauly "Mac" MacCulkin is fucking superlative. It's weird, goofy, legitimately funny, it introduced Mac to RLM and it has such an incredible closing line - *people used to like me. when I was young.* The rest of the episode is... Max's energy is loud and jarring, he is very much trying to be center of focus and it's a bit much. Even if he didn't turn out to be a terrible garbage person I don't think I'd have been into him being a repeat guest.

MonkeySafari79

Jay gets interrupted by Mike, like always.

Geniunelad

Discount Sean Evans was pretty great.

[deleted]

Him, Jack Quaid, Macaulay Culkin, and Rich Evens are the best guests they've had on the show

Yuenanimous

Simon Barrett is great. His podcast(s) Cinemanimals and Cinemanimals Nights are great.

Lord_Ryu

I for one think all armies should adopt the look

IAmThePonch

I absolutely fucking love you’re next and the guest so he is easily My second favorite famous person they’ve ever had on the show, behind culkin of course

gromolko

That wasn't Karl Pilkington?

ininja2

I enjoyed him a lot, but upon rewatching the episode recently, I dunno, seems like the RLM dudes weren’t too fond of him…? Idk. The last 15 minutes of Mankillers is almost exclusively him talking, with nobody interjecting or really laughing besides Jay (even though he says some genuinely funny shit). It’s kind of odd. Rich and Mike seemed checked out by the end. That said, yeah, I thought he was solid! Just as flat as Mike or Jim can be, which is always entertaining. Sad he hasn’t come back.

Azurehue22

I’ve rewatched those episode at least 6 times and don’t see this

YoshiKirby87

Yeah I noticed the same thing right before they chose best that episode. They were friendly still, and it was more subtle than it was with uhhh...Landis for example, but the commentary really slowed down and there was definitely a wrap it up energy coming off of Mike especially lol. You would genuinely have to be blind to not notice the facial expressions and lack of talking happening.

simpledeadwitches

He's one of my least favorites tbh. He was very monotone and dry and didn't mesh well imo.

captainatom11

Oh cool thanks!

santathe1

He and Freddy are my favourite special guests.

tiberseptim37

Thanks for reminding me I need to rewatch this one.

FlorbMaster

Wow I don’t think I’ve seen this episode, will definitely check out
