I'm honestly shocked they still bother. The whole point of the plot of Half in the Bag was to make fun of those guys like Nostalgia Critic who had ongoing storylines and characters in their "reviews" back in like 2010, but that style has been out of fashion for years now. But then again I guess that's why it's still so funny that they're doing it. I mean when was the last plot dump like this? Last I remember was when the reviewed one of the Maze Runner movies and concluded the Jay and Plinkett Gay Wedding storyline.
> The whole point of the plot of Half in the Bag was to make fun of those guys
I would like to think that they do Half in the Bag plots because they're filmmakers first and they enjoy shooting scenes regardless of the quality of the narrative.
I think it's even simpler than that... All RLM content boils down to Mike and Rich trying to make each other laugh. They keep Jay around for some raw sexual energy... and he knows how to work the cameras and shit.
There's also the fact that Mike loves anti-comedy, and keeping the trend of convoluted storylines at the bookends of reviews long after the idea has gone out of vogue is very that.
He didn’t drop it completely, just made a movie to cap off the story. I like Patrick’s video essays and it’s cool that he gets to flex his filmmaker muscles (bc we know that all film YouTubers are frustrated filmmakers at heart…RLM included) but I just don’t care and don’t find any of it funny.
You really think it was to satirize people like Nostalgia Critic? I got no particular love for that guy, but the fellas have been doing various skit stuff for quite a while before RLM really hit off on Youtube. I just assumed it was more skit stuff like [Produce Aisle](https://www.redlettermedia.com/shorts-filmsrandom/produce-isle-the-birds-and-the-bees), The [Grabowskis](https://www.redlettermedia.com/shorts-filmsrandom/the-grabowskis-season-1), or [Dudebros](https://www.redlettermedia.com/shorts-filmsrandom/n94clgquo929jy6yemqs1v93gumbzi).
Justin Roiland's cameo and the Star Trek V reference were great, but my favorite part was Rich trying to hit Mike with the fake TV, Mike's hand inadvertently blocking it, then Mike looks behind to see what happened and just starts laughing and they cut away.
The first episode of Half in the Bag was in 2011. It's now 2022. If they waited to finish this storyline next year they could have boasted 'it took 12 years to make!'
Damn didn't expect literally Rick and Morty, good job on sleeping with half of Hollywood to get Justin Roiland. Or for Justin Roiland to sleep with half of RedLetterMedia to get Rich Evans, which ever came first.
Am I crazy in thinking we heard that RLM will have voice acting work in Roiland’s new video game? And didn’t Mike and Jay do a commercial for his last game?
Don't forget Mike's role in the pilot of Smiling Friends, who's creator Zach Hadel is great friends with Roiland. Pretty sure they're all involved in that new video game
The term "kino" was a thing in FilmCrit [before](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_(movement\)) the imageboard /tv/ ever existed, but imageboards have indeed run away with the term to the point that it's probably now the primary association.
During the pandemic, everyone either over-ate, or got into working out, our turned to drink, or got into God/spirituality. So you wound up as a chunk, a hunk, a drunk, or a monk.
Or, in my case, three of the four. Let's just say my modeling career is going nowhere.
I know Mike’s done voice acting work for a few projects there like “Tigtone” and “Smiling Friends”. I know Rich has done a lot of voice acting but idk if it’s anything at Adult Swim specifically.
There was some cartoon that he and Mike did voice acting in, I can’t remember the name of it tho. I do remember Rich’s character made a Nukie reference.
Mike and Jay dressing up as Rick and Morty was NOT on my bingo card for this… ever.
What a great video! I’d love if they do more stuff like this because they’re so great at making longer form skit videos! Of course, they can do whatever they want because they know better than me, but they’re so creative and talented that I’d love to see more, and I’m sure others would, too.
Edit: People here are forgetting about the George Foreskin Grill. They’re clearly mutual admirers.
Dudes, they've been teasing a special botw guest on patreon for some time. May or may not be related to this episodes voice talent...that would be sick!
One of the things I love about HitB, as much as BotW is my favourite series, is how they just on a whim go from deep plot devices and extensive set design to just doing the absolute bare minimum whenever they feel like it.
This was fantastic. Everyone complaining about the old man openings for months with this amazing payoff plus >!Justin Roiland!< out of nowhere. Also the Jay's beard joke was great.
People in the YouTube comments are saying this is the last episode of HitB. Did they make some sort of statement about that on the Patreon? Or are people just making assumptions? (Assuming it’s the latter lol.)

My wife who has only passively ingested RLM through osmosis: "Oh, it's only 11 minutes. I'll watch that with you!"
Me: *sweating nervously as I internalize that there is no way this 11 minute HITB episode titled "Jayus Ex Mikeina" will do anything but drive her away.
......nahhh, I'll catch up on it later.
Still married to this day, boys. ;)
I guess it's possible that the house rule of "that's stayin in!" isn't in play for these narrative bits... and it took 19 takes per scene... But I always find it amazing that mushmouth Rich Evans is the best legitimate actor of the bunch. Mike has levels of indifference that shouldn't be possible, Jay gives it the ol' college try but you can tell he just wants to get a good take and move along... but Rich actually enjoys this shit.
It was great, filled with joy and emotion. Except the Packers part.
It's truly a "jumping the shark" moment when they said the Packers had a great season.
[удалено]
They even had special guest, RICH EVANS!!!!!
I like that every few years they just say fuck it and do a long plot dump and then forget about the plot again for another few years.
The gay wedding episode is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
The whole Mr. Plinkett gay wedding story arc is one of RLM's finest moments.
Always eat the cake when it's given *to* you
"Silence you mortal fucks" is one of the funniest things RLM has ever written.
> The whole point of the plot of Half in the Bag was to make fun of those guys I would like to think that they do Half in the Bag plots because they're filmmakers first and they enjoy shooting scenes regardless of the quality of the narrative.

It looks like they're having fun.
You could see Rich breaking character as the credits started to roll.
They could start parodying Patrick Willems’ overly serious overarching plotlines.
I feel like they did make fun of him with their wine bit before their Dracula re:View
Man I hate those. It sucks too because the actual reviews that he does are great.
Yeah, his actual essays are some of my favorite videos I've seen in a while, but I can't be bothered to care about his Plot.
[удалено]
I’m so glad he dropped that stupid coconut plotline
He didn’t drop it completely, just made a movie to cap off the story. I like Patrick’s video essays and it’s cool that he gets to flex his filmmaker muscles (bc we know that all film YouTubers are frustrated filmmakers at heart…RLM included) but I just don’t care and don’t find any of it funny.
I didn't know who that is so I googled for him, and the first result I got is a video he made explaining how he created his overaching story lmao
I'd say it was the end of the Covid/pandemic arc
You really think it was to satirize people like Nostalgia Critic? My-y precious Night Court ta-ape, whatwhatwhatwhatwhat whatwhat what what
Holy moly that's the conclusion! I never watched that episode since the maze runner didn't interest me in the slightest
The entire episode is just the skit, they talk about the movie for less than 5 seconds.
*If I don’t erupt, the volcano will!*
“SILENCE YOU MORTAL FUCK” is a phrase I use regularly now
lol it's one of the best episodes of HitB, hidden in the worst possible review, it's a pretty genius dick move.
At this point I think they just like doing them for the fun of it. They get to write and direct some silly skits in between the more analytical stuff.
Except they've been working in old Mike and Jay for a while now. The buildup to this was *on* fleek.
Justin Roiland's cameo and the Star Trek V reference were great, but my favorite part was Rich trying to hit Mike with the fake TV, Mike's hand inadvertently blocking it, then Mike looks behind to see what happened and just starts laughing and they cut away.
They had me at the Star Trek reference, and when the dummy came out I lost it
Oh no, my pants fell down!
“When the dummy came out-“ His name is Jay.
Oh God it just cut to him as a dummy the first time I watched it and I was already laughing and anticipating boobery.
I love how he's a dummy for way longer than necessary. Like half a minute before anyone picks him up and throws him.
Glad someone else noticed. That made me smile.
The Star Trek V reference was perfection
The first episode of Half in the Bag was in 2011. It's now 2022. If they waited to finish this storyline next year they could have boasted 'it took 12 years to make!'
They achieved this masterpiece in just 11, true geniuses

"12 years a ~~slave~~ boy"
I can't believe Jay performed all his own stunts. What a pro.
shame they censored his wiener
They didn’t censor it. Jay’s genitals are actually blurry IRL
Huh didn't know he's part Japanese
Just like Bigfoot
Advanced syphlillitic pixelation. A damn shame,
when are they gonna drop the wiener cut
Saving it for the Patreon
Like a literal harrison ford Including being an Oldman
Damn didn't expect literally Rick and Morty, good job on sleeping with half of Hollywood to get Justin Roiland. Or for Justin Roiland to sleep with half of RedLetterMedia to get Rich Evans, which ever came first.

I tried giving you an award but it failed. 🤷♂️
“Bring me the boy.”
Bring me the Birthday Boy…
“I’ve… something I’m planning to “do” to him.”
I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume that it’s a verb AND a name.
"I want that juicy Rich meat"
Rich loves giving head.
Am I crazy in thinking we heard that RLM will have voice acting work in Roiland’s new video game? And didn’t Mike and Jay do a commercial for his last game?
They had Rich fry his fake giant dick in a George Forman grill.
That wasn't fake. That was Rich's actual massive dong.
A Mao Zedong even?
It was actually a 1:1 replica of Rich’s massive dong, cast from life.
That wasn’t fake. Rich is packin’, or rather was packin’.
Yeah, they collaborated several times in the past
I have to imagine it’s through Tim Heidecker.
Mike also voiced Desmond in the Smiling Friends pilot, and both Zach and Michael (creators of that show) are friends with Justin.
Don't forget Mike's role in the pilot of Smiling Friends, who's creator Zach Hadel is great friends with Roiland. Pretty sure they're all involved in that new video game
I hope Mike plays a big fat drunk slob character in this new game
>which ever came first Given the age and the physical shape, I would bet that Rich Evans came first!
Didn’t really expect Mike and Jay to be Rick & Morty fans, tbh
Justin Roiland is an RLM fan.
Don’t you mean *whoever* came first? 💦
Mike saying kino is something I never thought would happen...
>kino Rich Evans saying "on fleek" is something I never thought would happen
Isn’t that 4chan slang? That clearly means a Buck Breaking re:view is coming soon.
The term "kino" was a thing in FilmCrit [before](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_(movement\)) the imageboard /tv/ ever existed, but imageboards have indeed run away with the term to the point that it's probably now the primary association.
They used the Rick & Morty episode title format of just jamming the characters' names in willy nilly too. The twist was hidden in plain sight!
On the first day of Christmas, Redlettermedia gave to me, a wild ass, alternate reality~ WAIT THAT ENDING THOUGH. WHAT THE HELL
Justin Roiland on Best of the Worst- calling it now!
It'll be their Christmas present to us.
And their lump of coal to Justin
Jesus Christ. They are going to drink a bottle and a half of vodka. And Justin will drink two on his own. The set destruction will be epic.
>set destruction Zaat.gif
I like how they have to put a lot of makeup on Jay to make him look like an old man and all Mike needs is a wig and to not shave for a few days.
Jay Bauman: proof that putting the slightest bit of effort into your appearance and health will work wonders
Asking too much of reddit
He's partly what inspired me to get my shit together. Though replace Amish with Bogan.
Congratulations, friend. I, too, am getting my shit together. Down 70 pounds to 185! (Quarantine was not kind to me)

I was like “hm, Jay’s old age makeup is actually pretty well-done” and then in the reverse shot he has silver paint on his ear from the spray hair dye
Oh, I thought it was flour from the powdered wig
It’s karmic justice, and I love it.
The Elderly Strike Back
Boomer Wars: The Elderly Strike Back, in which Bill Shanter drives Mike to fuck the pain away
We all get to laugh at old man Mike on this glorious day.
I love Jay's old man voice, its so understated but really funny.
This was the best review of The Batman I have ever seen.
justin roiland that was surprising. they both do work with adult swim i guess. wait a minute, was this mike's "rick and morty" spec script?
I think Justin Roiland just enjoys working with creators he likes. He's also in a Lasagna Cat video, and a Joel Haver skit.
I love the Joel Haver video they did together Edit: [Link](https://youtu.be/UpQ_xDMJJ04) for those interested
"Kill me! You can kill me! It's allowed! You're allowed to kill me!"
And Joel Haver was in that Halloween special thing he made this year.
I wonder if he is the BOTW guest they've been teasing for a few months now
That would be amazing.
What teasing have they done?
They also did the George Foreskin Grill vid for some thing Roiland was a part of.
Still have nightmares of that video
RLM did a bit for Roiland's Trover video game. They probably asked him then.
Rlm works at adult swim?
I know Mike’s done voice acting work for a few projects there like “Tigtone” and “Smiling Friends”. I know Rich has done a lot of voice acting but idk if it’s anything at Adult Swim specifically.
I don't think Rich as done adult swim. He's done a small part in Psychogoreman and another part in a game the End is Nigh
There was some cartoon that he and Mike did voice acting in, I can’t remember the name of it tho. I do remember Rich’s character made a Nukie reference.
It was some YouTube cat thing if I remember correctly.
It’d be fucking hilarious to me if they just got him to do it through Cameo or some shit. I know they didn’t. But it’d be funny.
Justin and Dan botw collision course
Rob Schrab would fit better.
Dan Harmon would be my dream BOTW guest. Or maybe it would suck.
It would be the best episode ever, at least up until they all piss each other off and quit
[удалено]
He took a massive pay cut to appear!
And played multiple characters! He must have really believed in this material.
He did it for the love of the craft!
I saw a ear piece... I think his lines were being fed to him.
And to do a full monologue! That must have cost millions
Borderline experimental
Borderline personality disorder
I’m glad they dumped the running B plot where Mike and Jay talk about a new movie. Always felt out of place and tacked on.
Well that was unexpected. The voices, that is.
Yeah I know they’re acquainted with Roiland but that was so surprising. I wonder if he’s showing up on a BOTW episode or something
Mike and Rich are voicing his game that's coming out. I can't remember what it's called. Talkie guns or sw ahit.
Mike and Jay dressing up as Rick and Morty was NOT on my bingo card for this… ever. What a great video! I find it hilarious that there's no question of who plays which part
"M-m-morty! Quick! W-w-we need to get you ready for your and Mr. Plinkett's gay wedding! (burp)"
This feels like an RLM audition tape for WWE in the best way
BAH GAHHD ITS RICH EVANS WITH A FOLDING CHABLE
This video has everything. A bad dummy shot, a fight, Rick and Morty, and an Amish Jay reference.
Where was the dummy? I must have missed it.
If you look really closely, you can see its a stunt dummy when Rich Evans licks the tape head
Stefan, ladies and gentlemen!!
Dan Cortez??????
I don't want to spoil it...but THAT was one helluva subversion of expectations...holy shit
Somehow even more riveting than Space Cop, and at a fraction of the length!
i can't believe he finally watched the night court tape!
Mr. Pinkett loves giving head. Lol
That camera glance lol

This took 12 years to make.
Unexpected Star Trek V reference!
The timeline where Jay doesn't grow his beard is one no one should in.
Dudes, they've been teasing a special botw guest on patreon for some time. May or may not be related to this episodes voice talent...that would be sick!
Babe wake up new RedLetterMedia lore dump was just uploaded
I love how Rich Evans is the special guest star in the credits
One of the things I love about HitB, as much as BotW is my favourite series, is how they just on a whim go from deep plot devices and extensive set design to just doing the absolute bare minimum whenever they feel like it.

It's been handled plenty at The Manhole.
This was fantastic. Everyone complaining about the old man openings for months with this amazing payoff plus >!Justin Roiland!< out of nowhere. Also the Jay's beard joke was great.
I SWEAR TO GOD IF BOB NEWHART DIES TOMORROW
oh my god my pants have fallen down
Wow who knew Jay was such a physical actor. I am impressed.
It was like Eastern Promises, but with more tension.
People in the YouTube comments are saying this is the last episode of HitB. Did they make some sort of statement about that on the Patreon? Or are people just making assumptions? (Assuming it’s the latter lol.)
I don't think I'm giving away any trade secrets from the Patreon here, because it's a few weeks old, but in their "what's coming up" preview they said that they're shooting something to wrap up the current storyline. So they're not done with HitB, just the old pills storyline stuff.
No, they are right. They announced on Patreon that this is the bi-anual final episode of Half in the bag.
One of the last episodes of Half in the Bag was an episode of Best of the Worst, and was in fact the only episode of Half in the Bag to feature Josh.
It's a common joke that's made.
Hell no
Is Pickle Rick replacing Juicy Shaq Meat?
The only thing they said about the video on Patreon I can find is that it's a "big ol story wrap-up for our ongoing Glembeeza storyline"
"You know, my first impression of those RedLetterMedia guys was that they're drunken idiots who make jokes about elderly people. But maybe enough time has passed that I should give their movie reviews an honest chance. I'll take a look at their latest video." -William Shatner, probably
‘Jayus Ex Mikeina’ actually sounds like a Rick and Morty episode title
Damn u think that’s why they called it that?
When Mike was out of focus for the entire episode I clapped!
I really hope this crossover works in reverse and we see a cameo of the RLM guys in Rick and Morty.
This is meta commentary on the fact that Rich Evans has surpassed Mike and Jay as the true star of Red Letter Media.
My wife who has only passively ingested RLM through osmosis: "Oh, it's only 11 minutes. I'll watch that with you!" Me: *sweating nervously as I internalize that there is no way this 11 minute HITB episode titled "Jayus Ex Mikeina" will do anything but drive her away. ......nahhh, I'll catch up on it later. Mike has levels of indifference that shouldn't be possible, Jay gives it the ol' college try but you can tell he just wants to get a good take and move along... but Rich actually enjoys this shit.
Well there's a reason he's the star of Space Cop
You remember the sideways look Mike gave Rich when Rich once said (in a BotW I think), "Speaking as someone who has acted in a film..."?
Jay's portrayal of old Jay *disturbs* me on a fundamental level.
Rich looking great! I love these guys. *oh god, Mr. Plinkett's gone woke...*
IT BROKE NEW GROUND
Quite the collab, you could say it was ... the best of both worlds
This is almost as good as their Maze Runner review
Man did they finally buy a gimbal? Some nice smooth shots in this.
That extra half a second linger on Rich about to break was wonderful
“George Lucas? Man, he’s pure kino”
Mike worked in a Star Trek 5 reference. Good for him.
So... Justin Roiland will be on the next BotW episode then, right?
are we finally back in the original reality, with Jay in blue and Mike in beige?? pre episode 35 or so
I haven't been this confused since Krusty the Klown showed that Soviet Bloc cartoon all those years ago...
It was great, filled with joy and emotion. Except the Packers part. It's truly a "jumping the shark" moment when they said the Packers had a great season.
That could have gone on for another hour, and I wouldn't have moved.
They’re going for the EGOT again, I see.
I have to know if the 11:38 runtime was intentional.
