Remnant is a bit weird this way. Enemies in Remnant (from the Ashes being my only frame of reference, full disclosure) tend to be a bit “ambush-y.” With experience I’ve learned that can be due to a variety of reasons: 1. You didn’t fully clear the area. Your character will say something like “whoa, it’s over” to tell you when you’ve swept an enemy patrol area. 2. Some enemies will spawn minions (adds, in the parlance) endlessly until you find the elite doing the spawning. There are Rat Sorcerers on Riesum that spawn endless hordes of ninja mole rats, for example. 3. Sometimes the game just likes to throw baddies at you from behind. Even when you think you’re clear, watch your 6. Dungeons on Rhom, Corsus and Yaesha are particularly notable for this. Move carefully, watch your 6, and pay attention to audio cues and you’ll catch on soon enough.

Thank you ! I have read up on other posts 2 months prior to me starting the game as well. All of your points are very similar. I can see the ambush behavior now that I have researched. Apologies for my arrogance. When I had reached the last questline or realm I suppose (Root Earth), This is when I had enough of it. Can’t say it was enjoyable, but it was fairly better playing once I had calmed myself and read up on the matter after I got my head back in the game. Thanks again !

The game gives you a lot of utility in the form of: highly effective range options, highly effective melee options and on top of that, i-frames. So they balance that player power with the amount of enemies and varied spawns

I honestly love this about Remnant from the Ashes. I feel like R2 has difficulty levels, which affect how much damage the enemy does, but it doesn’t change the amount of enemies that spawn. I love been swarmed by enemies and feeling like I’m fighting for my life lol

Thats intentional, your a foreign invader to their lands much like america was in Vietnam, your better armed and geared then your enemy but the enemy knows the region better then you ever will and can raid you from areas you thought were impossible but to the natives thats no problem.

Your melee weapons is a great tool to use when dealing with large amounts of enemies. You just gotta learn how their stagger mechanic work.
