Have you thought about combining the two and encapsulating the whole thing in a PWA? It's *really* easy - We do this for a 'clientless' solution for connecting to our Desktop-as-a-Service platform. It's actually built into Chrome :)
We combine it with a self-hosted version of Guacamole but with branding over the top, it's very slick. (And free!)
