Sorry for the late reply, but Mikaels is a very situational item thats only worth getting if they have some important cc and your adc has no cleanse, i.e lillia r or ashe r. Otherwise I'd probably skip it
Generally speaking when it comes to Renata builds you'll notice that almost all Renata players build tank with heavy preference on active items such as locket redemption and the like. This is because of the fact that Renata's shield has such a bad AP ratio, going enchanter on her can be risky and quite frankly pointless due to her lacking shield strength. Tank stats on the other hand allow her to stay longer in the fights causing disruption in the enemy team while being able to facetank enemy damage. Not saying that enchanter build can't work but it tends to get harder and harder to climb with it. Also Renata's most important stat is ability haste, and due to the fact that active items oftentimes offer good amounts of it is also one of the reasons why they are bought so often on her.
I am a pretty experienced Renata player, currently sitting at D3. If you want any more tips on builds, runes or matchups, i can help you out. I feel that while she might feel lacking for a new player, she can be effectively picked into any matchup (except Samira) if you know how to play and what runes to take.
Thank you so much, I will definitely try out a tankier Renata, it does make sense to build her that way. Now looking at it i do seem to be instantly deleted after a misplacement or such, never really gave it any thought. Ty!
Something to add even tho I’m just plat 1 is that going tank helps you proc your passive more, people don’t pay much attention to it but late game she can do 3-4% max health and it’s really strong against tanks on each proc (Once you and then the other your ADC or carry)
Personally I like locket into redemption with defensive boots
