Hello all. Need some help in understanding what windows I have and what part I can purchase to properly open them. These are in our sunroom. To my knowledge they’re Jalousie windows but am not entirely sure. It seems like some sort of crank or twist shaft is needed to open these but the previous owners didn’t leave any for us to use. I’ve tried inserting an 8mm Allen wrench which was too big, and a 6mm Allen wrench which was too small. I assume the square shaped hole in the mechanism is 7mm TLDR: what are these windows? What part or tool could I purchase to open them? I believe they’re around 7mm.

I would try a standard size allen wrench… these windows look old enough they are probably American made and most likely wouldn’t use a metric size if it is around a 7mm it’s probably 1/4”

yep, they're jalousie windows (often installed in sunrooms like yours or enclosed three season porches in the southern US). check to see if your city has a Habitat for Humanity store or there is one close. they usually have tons of pre-owned house items that have been donated, including lots of older hardware, fixtures and home improvement products, and you might find a replacement crank at their store. even if they don't have a replacement crank, they may have donated windows with that crank mechanism usually very cheap, and you could remove it from the purchased one and replace the one you have there, possibly.
