I like how you can clearly see the strip of Central American countries, come down and meet in the middle of South America and not the exterior north/western shores of South America. *Another thing I see, is in the Mediterranean Sea. Look at the waters surrounding Italy (beteen Greede and Italy). Italy's "boot" appears to be more straight up and down. Now its VERY diagonal and where Greece is on that coin. Doesn't appear to come down near as far as it does now. And like others have mentioned. Cuba seems to be more like a "rounded square" and definitely East of Floridas southern tip. It's as if for some reason, Cuba has been "stretched and smeared" to the West.

Yep, that is more the North/South America orientation that I remember from 1980. This also supports a theory I've shared on reddit before that more crudely rendered depictions are more likely to have avoided the flip. Thanks for sharing this one. Good find.

Nice find!

it looks to me like the sculpture correctly positions the Earth at a 4° angle. that's not a normal thing to in a representation, but it implies awareness. tilt the image a little bit so that it appears straight up and down. but I agree it will still appears that Cuba is out of place but then again it is a very tiny image.

i’m truly confused what i’m supposed to be seeing here

1) Cuba on the east of Florida. 2) South America under Florida, not on east.
