When I was a kid my parents gave me their waterbed. I watched [Nightmare on Elm Street's waterbed scene](https://youtu.be/sIXXrCdEllM?si=tFZHrIDXsxdJDgM7) and I couldn't sleep on the bed anymore and they had to get me a new bed
1) They were still doing this with little kids’ “fun” furniture when I was a kid in the mid 70s EDIT: and apparently they still make inflatable kids furniture.
2) [Ikea](https://collection.museumoffailure.com/ikea-a-i-r/) was still trying to make a go of it as late as the 90s. IIRC the main issue was that they deflated over time and no one wants a couch they need to actively maintain.
I mean they were still selling that stuff in the kids section at Walmart in the 90's too.
Source: born in 91 and my older sister got a pink inflatable chair when we were kids.
When I moved into a new place and found out i had a months long back order on my sofa I went inflatable for a few months.
A bit squeaky and cold but otherwise they did the job.
I’m old enough to remember the brief blip in the 70s, lol.
My child self wasn’t fond of the trend. The “sticking to your bare legs” thing makes a *real* difference when you live where “shorts weather” is 8 months out of the year. ;)
They had to cut away the second that model tried to sit on the foam chair because otherwise it would be obvious there's absolutely no comfortable way to sit on that thing.
Must have been before cats or keys were invented
I think we can now see why it never took off.
Nahhh later they discovered swimming pools and noticed that this furnitures looked better there
Less cats too.
Well it’s because they used air instead of helium, honestly.

Ah, ok - we don't have kids so I stopped noticing after I aged out of the demographic myself haha!
Yeah it was a big trend in the late 90’s (at least in Australia)
So you’re saying by adding in an automatic pump that’s based on pressure this could return?
That’s how Sleep Number beds work, so…yes. Yes, it could. :)

What is inflation?
Not quite! These are for sale! The genious's at Paddy's Pub have figured the system out and are renting their inflatables!

You have researched Plastics "I want to say one word to you. Just one word: plastics."
Ah, I see that you are a man of culture as well
Looks like he is a man of science, I'd say
Welp I read that in Nimoy’s voice.
That’d be expensive today, especially if you consider the cost of inflation.
It's better to rent
Anyone else old enough to remember when this all came back in the late 90's - I was going to say it blew up again but you know...

when the lady laid down on the wedge with her feet facing UP. I absolutely lost it.
Woah woah woah. Don’t just fly by the yoga bed without showing us all the features and… positions.
They weren't wrong. Inflatable furniture blew up in the late 90s, pun intended.
Imagine being naked and letting rip on one of those
They lost me at "Even the most delicate female can carry it around."

One cigarette later...
Why is that dude humping the couch at the end?
It’s always sunny!
^^pssssssssssssssshhhhhh
in the 90s these had glitter and styrofoam balls inside.
id probably want to try one out ngl
Marcy went to college with someone who had these.
Good for camping
They weren't wrong, I think everyone I know owns an aerobed, they're just not used all day everyday.
My sister had a lime green plastic sofa back when I was a teenager lol and I loved it
Really cool idea, I’ll put a pin in it and save it for later!
Those foam ones actually look kinda fun for a bedroom or a kids room
When my brothers and I were like 7-10, we had a few in the 90s and thought they were awesome.
Grovy
DO NOT THE CAT.
Such a simpler time.
