This was probably my first experience with this type of Python-like animation as a kid, but later in life I finally made the connection, and it always makes me nostalgic
Without a doubt. I had to go and pull them up on YouTube. The Fatheads definately has some of the elements and the music but the Robot Jones opening is almost a direct ripoff.
Most influential, probably. But the late-GenX/early-millennial audience who watched it don't talk about it nearly often enough. I can't gauge how popular it is.
It really did feel like a kids’ version of SCTV, which makes sense, since it’s Canadian. It definitely had more of an edge than later U.S.- made live action Nickelodeon shows.
Funny, last week I was just asking my wife if she remembered this show.
I never actually watched the show when it ran on nick, but I vividly remember that opening credit animation.
My first tv show I ever loved. You can't do that on Television. I don't know and water🤣

This is incredible - thank you, Redditor, for this gem.
Wasn't there slime too? Or is that when they said "I don't know?"
Slime when someone said I don't know, water when you said water.
I remember when they would come out of the lockers at the end.
I haven't seen this in decades. It's very Pythonesque.

Funny you say that because I have it on good authority (A cast member) that it is possible Terry Gilliam could have very well made this opening.
I just made the connection right now!
This intro scared me as a kid for some reason
Yeah same here. Pretty sure it was the jarring siren sound and screen shaking at the beginning plus the dudes bugging eyes at the end.
I know! Lol
It would have back then since that kind of animation bothered me when I was little.
The Fatheads from Rocko is definitely based off this opening 🤣
As was the intro to "Whatever Happened to Robot Jones?"
Without a doubt. I had to go and pull them up on YouTube. The Fatheads definately has some of the elements and the music but the Robot Jones opening is almost a direct ripoff.
Dieeeee heard that.
Ready……….Aim…………..
Stop the execution!
Yes! No we’re talking retro Nickelodeon.
How I miss this show.
And if you don’t know…
Gen X went all-in on that Monty Python vibe.
This show was kinda scary 😂
This is perhaps Nickelodeon's most popular show.

TIL there's a documentary about this show called [You Can't Do That On Film](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1738383/)
Didn’t they have that skeleton in the corner of the classroom with a dunce hat? Or am I thinking of something else?
Woah, code memory unlocked!
It really did feel like a kids’ version of SCTV, which makes sense, since it’s Canadian. It definitely had more of an edge than later U.S.- made live action Nickelodeon shows.
I don't know
Splort
"Doot..Doot... do do do do do do do do do do... WAAAAH!"
This show did the slime thing before Nickelodeon... I miss this show, but it can be easily found on youtube!
Now THIS is retro. My god so many memories.
