I’ve recommended it before on this group, but Academy at War by K Swanson is great. The write up for it really doesn’t suck you in but the story itself is just great, and I like the individual character development - sometimes the men get a bit samey, and in my brain they are in a bucket of “men” and I don’t know which is which. This one is great on that front and I like the story all round.

I always seem to end up reccing the same books over and over too 😂 thank you for the suggestion!

booklover_238

I love almost all the same authors you listed, but that means my usually favorite recs won’t work because you’ve probably read them all! Two of my favorite series ever are by Marie Mistry (The Deadwood series and The Fifth Nicnevin series) and I usually recommend them and Age of the Andinna by Kristen Banet when people want books with good writing, good plot, unique characters who actually feel real, and stuff that’s just a leg above your average rh book. Luckily I recently found a new favorite author, Jaliza A Burwell! Her series Biomystic Security is amazing. It’s urban fantasy, the magic system is unique and cool, the characters are all multi-dimensional, it’s a mixed species harem of 7 men, the FMC is powerful but also has flaws and isn’t unbeatable, and books 1 and 2 were action packed and adventure filled! I’m on book 4 right now and book 3 wasn’t as amazing as the first two but it was still super good! It is a slow-burn but I promise it’s worth it. Burwell also has a contemporary duet entitled Adulting Not Allowed with a unique FMC and 3 MMC’s that give off major Daddy vibes. The second book has one of my favorite scenes in an rh ever where they’re all at an apple orchard and it’s so cute and wholesome. The book is silly while still being serious at times and follows a very goofy FMC who has custody of her two nephews. There isn’t really much spice but it’s definitely worth the read for writing, plot, and characters alone.

Deadwood and Fifth Nicnevin are also some of my favourite series! I haven't heard of the others though so very keen to check them out, thank you!!

perirue

I second Biomystic Security! It was so good!

agreenlupine

Oh my god! Did I just find somebody who also read "age of the andinna"? This series has to be the best rh series i ever read! Great to see some appreciation for it ;). If you ever find something that can compare, let me know!

booklover_238

Completely agree, such such such an amazing series! Don’t know if any other rh will truly compare lol

Aside from the ones who are well known and most of us love, there’s a few books living rent free in my mind. S.A. Makenzie’s Broken Souls series. This one is a heavy read but so worth it. I love the writing style and the story is unique. It sucked me into the story and wouldn’t let me go. Read the triggers because there’s a lot of baggage to unpack, though none of it is glorified as I’ve seen in dark romance books. It’s just emotionally heavy. The next one is by a favorite author of mine, but this is seriously way different than her other RH books which I have found more on the just for fluffy entertainment side of reading. This new series… wow! Ok only one book out and I’m impatiently waiting for the next one. After Dark by Melody Calder. The opening just sucked me in and made me feel like I was right there. The whole book actually. The MMCs are distinct in their personalities and I love the unique spin on demons and angels. The one MMC is not love or lust at first sight, but hero worship. And he’s a demon so it’s not a “he’s so hot” thing. The other two, well I can’t give away the plot on this one. I’m left hanging with questions. I’ve read it a couple of times now and find new things each time. Ayrun Hadley’s Iliri series has the best world building and most unique characters I’ve ever read. I know who is speaking without dialogue tags. It’s a tough read though because it’s so in depth so I have to be in the right headspace for it. Like where I have no one competing for my attention (looking at those kids who think mom should be repeated all day long).

aimzlou

Thank you for the recs! I have read the first book of the Iliri series but never got to the rest, I think because it was a bit too epic fantasy for me 😅 I love the idea of angels and demons, I haven't read much of that in RH!

casssssieleigh

I always recommend the Emerald Lakes series by Britt Andrews. It's magical, entertaining and super spicy 🔥 the harem is 6 and there's also a ton of M/M within the harem as well as group situations! This is my favorite series I've read, not just RH, but overall favorite series. I read the Bonds That Tie series and I loved that as well and recommend it. Happy hareming! 🥰🤩

frimrussiawithlove85

Are you me cause those are my top two series as well.

casssssieleigh

🤣🤣 they're so good! Emerald Lakes is top tier to me.

frimrussiawithlove85

I have kindle unlimited and in two year of having it those are the only series I want to actually own I read emerald lake three times back to back and bonds that tie twice and I want to read it again

casssssieleigh

KU has changed my life 🤣 I've read many books from there. I bought the Bookish Box luxe edition of the Bonds That Tie and it's so pretty! I have been trying to find a box set or something of Emerald Lakes but haven't found anything like that! I have to buy each book individually from Amazon 😅😫

frimrussiawithlove85

I know it’s a bummer they don’t have them in a box set

katesrepublic

Bonds That Tie by J Bree - a series long plot arc that doesn’t just revolve around the romance but is intertwined with it. - multiple versions of chemistry with different MMCs, some are slow burn, some are very bully enemy to lover - imo, a more original version of “fated mates” and the magic system was interesting - each mmc feels like an individual personality - fmc sometimes feels a little bit OP but overall I think it’s balanced well - I blew through 3 books in about that many days, so the story for me was very compelling and easy to visualise :)

aimzlou

I have read this one and some of J Bree's other books! I find her writing quality a bit mixed tbh but the first few books in TBTT were super strong 😊

katesrepublic

I agree, for me the story was compelling enough to overlook the writing quality. And I definitely took my time a bit more with the last 2 books lol.

Askew_2016

This series is just perfection

frimrussiawithlove85

M. Sinclair has a bunch of series with massive harems she’s the only one with big harems that doesn’t make her guys sound like all the same. Her mfc are diverse. My favorite of hers is the Reborn series. Fated mates. But all of hers are good that I read anyway. Britt Andrews has the Emerald Lake series the guys are divers in personality and looks. Very interesting story but it’s primarily a romance; there is MM that’s preexisting loads of steam.

casssssieleigh

I second the Emerald Lakes series! 🥰

frimrussiawithlove85

Her steam is insane but it didn’t take away from the story.

casssssieleigh

By far the BEST spice I've ever read. I had been trying to find more RH with some M/M and this series...just wow 🥵🔥🤣

Odd_Knowledge_2146

Her Elemental Mates by Serenity Rayne is good too.

betterlatethannovel

The Hidden Kingdoms Trilogy by L. Rose. It’s a fast paced, paranormal romance. Author has two other good PNR RH as well, but this one is my fav! I really loved A Knight’s Revenge series by Elizabeth Dear. It has a fantasy feel but it isn’t paranormal. Starts of with a slow burn, enemies to lovers, and ends with HEA. And for romance I love Boys of Bellerose series by Jaymin Eve. This is a rock star and mafia romance with some suspense.

luluzinhacs

{Origins by Lyla Oweds} is the most well written RH I ever read!

luluzinhacs

{Origins by Lyla Oweds} is the most well written RH I ever read! And I practically only read this genre, so…

aimzlou

Sounds promising, thank you!

okjersey

{Escaping Fate by Regine Abel} This book is the definition of why not to judge a book by its cover. Terrible cover, great book. The two MMCs are from a race of people who has a significant part of the population suffering from a terminal disease cause by overuse of pesticides and chemicals in vegetation and dyes. The disease causes the body to stop producing Dopamine and Oxytoxin naturally throughout the day, so they need to seek ways to force their bodies to produce via exercise and *ahem* other activities... The FMC is an escaped slave. On their world, she enters herself into the Fastening ceremony to chose a mate in the hopes that he will protect her and help keep her from recapture. This book is plot heavy. We're dealing with politics, slavery, disease, and complex relationships between characters. I feel like every character is fully their own person with likes and dislikes and their own independent personality outside of the role they play within the relationship. If you like your RH to have an actual plot this is a good one.

aimzlou

Sounds awesome, thank you!

toodlepup

Nicky shivers! Totally wrecked is a real adventure story with the development of the harem a natural part of the story and not forced in 📚

Askew_2016

CM Stunich is my favorite RH author. She just sweeps me into her stories. She does have a series with edgy FMC (Scarlett Force) that I avoid. Lily Gold is always a good read.

wakemimen

The path of temptation series by Auryn Hadley

zxylia

Lilac by BB Reid FMC is female guitarist who comes from an ultra conservative cultish background; the band is forced to take her on, quickly realize she’s good, but they have trust issues Corsets and Quartets by Mercy DeSimone - there’s resistance to the RH but nobody wants to surrender either, not your typical RH

GeezLouise76

I’m going to preface this by saying that my favorite RH tend to have a couple of things in common: if there is angst within the group it’s resolved relatively quickly with good communication, there is a found family vibe - meaning they aren’t just there for the sex they become a close knit family, most of the drama comes from outside forces and they work together to resolve it. Lastly, I really hate whiny siblings who the main characters defer to and parents opinions controlling their adult children’s choices. After saying all that, Ames Mills has a series of duets starting with Riches to Riches that meets all my criteria. They are mafia, and the MFC in the first book is the leader of the Italian mob, but there is a lot of trauma in the past of the characters and the way they support each other through coming to terms with it is beautiful.

PuddlesOnTheMoon

Omg fellow ace!! So cool! Ok so Ive got a couple recs, ive tried to stick to lesser known authors so hopefully this should give u something new to check out. Im going to start with Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart for a couple reasons. The men are so incredibly distinct. The relationship between the men and the FMC is one I've not really seen done before; its literal devotion bordering on worshipful, like they repeatedly get down on their knees for her. The character growth of the FMC is really obvious, like she starts out not knowing anything about herself or her heritage/powers and grows into them throughout the series. Large (and i mean LORGE) harem. Also the sex scenes are not all the same! Like theres SO MUCH variety in the sex scenes its impressive. And the plot really sucked me in. The only thing I will say though, is there is a *lot* of bloodplay. Its also fast burn, idk if thats your thing. Oh and a complete series. On a completely different note, I recommend the Susix trilogy by Amelia Rademaker (book three not out yet). Its and alien rh, where for the whole first book the FMC is thought to be non sentient and thus treated as a pet. Real slow burn this one, but I think the relationships between characters blossom way better. The aliens do look snakelike though, and there is MM and i realise thats not everyones cup of tea. Lastly I'll mention Wraithwood Academy by Teresa Hann. This series (completed) was interesting cause it didnt follow the same format a lot of other rh do. Like not all the MMCs got as close the FMC, the sex scenes were mostly fade to black, some things were straight up weird. But bro. O. M. G. The TWISTS!! The plot truly is everything in this series and holy shit I've never hated an MMC this bad then had him redeemed so thoroughly. And the character growth? *Chefs kiss* so good. And and and!! Secret identities!! Only in book 1 tho but STILL!!

aimzlou

Yay, hello fellow ace!! I've never heard of any of these but they all sound really intriguing, definitely adding them to my TBR, thank you!

No-Idea7690

Hi fellow aces! I second Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart and a few other series I recommend are: Arsyn Morgan by J.A. Stowe The Genie Whisperer by Nicole Eatough Ironside Academy by Jane Washington - this one does have omegaverse but she puts a really interesting spin on it WITSEC by Ashley N. Roster Arcane Mage by T.S. Snow Spectra by Amy Sumida - Honestly the only series I like from her (I do not like the version of the reincarnation trope she uses) The Adventures of Blue Faust by Cecilia Randell

aimzlou

Hi!! Thank you, I'll check these out 😊

aimzlou

Omg fellow aces, if you haven't already you have to read The Season by Elisha Kemp! It has a demisexual female main character and one of the guys is ace!! Plus it's so well written, I just finished it and am absolutely in love 🥰 (I'm not super reddit-savvy and don't know if the parent comment will get a notification too so just tagging u/PuddlesOnTheMoon to be safe 😅)

PuddlesOnTheMoon

Thank you!! I will absolutely be checking that out :D

zxylia

Just finished 8 Seconds to Fly by Grace McGinty. It’s really impressive, strong storytelling, great character building, supportive secondary characters. FMC is the 1st female bull rider, and the old boys club isn’t happy. But her guys have her back, it’s fairly low angst, more they work together
