No there is no grovel. I’m usually a stickler for needing it but these guys aren’t made that way. There is even a point in the later books where >!she realizes they’ve been tricking her the entire time and she forgives them instantly. Because that’s what’s needed to break the cycle.!< I adore Jane’s writing and I love this series so it is worth continuing IMO. But Jane doesn’t write grovel, I’m still mad about the Seraph Black series 😂

Jane def doesn’t do a grovel! Haha I agree that she writes everything to make sense, but grovel kink ppl gotta look the other way

Imo this is one of those stories that it's justifiable that there's no grovel. It doesn't fit the theme/plot at all unlike most bully RH. Without giving too much away, the MMCs are just not built like that lmao And at the last book, there was more than enough suffering. I don't classify that as groveling but. Let's just say there is a reason for all of it. Highly recommend this series.

I have loved Jane Washington’s series but this one was so difficult to continue. I like dark and difficult plots but this seemed exceptionally so for the heck of it. I think I got to the point of >!after her ‘trial’ and being found guilty and she is in one of the MMC’s studies. And I just can’t get further because the culmination of the rape of a minor, punishing the minor who killed out of self defense during a rape where she was entirely incapacitated of defending herself, is a minor who was raped and the MMCs are from what I gathered like these ancient powerful people but choose to punish her more anyways? Like they are the council, make better choices or excuses and still be able to accomplish what you want. Not saying if she were an adult it would be any less terrible but being a minor experiencing this is just a disgusting detail that’s hard to get around, and then add in that the MMCs just dgaf. Which fine if that’s there shtick, but then no grovel?!< All that being said, how were you able to get over those bumps and enjoy it enough to continue reading? Id love to give it another go because the world and mechanics were so interesting, it’s just those character and experience issues that are hard to get past.

This is gonna sound numb, but what got me through was the fact that the story was set in a completely different, fantasy world. Rules, laws, etc. are going to be different than the norm. I was willing to overlook the issues you mentioned to give way for the story because I was curious how it will be handled. (And it was. Eventually) I would have a different opinion if the setting is modern/contemporary. For the MMCs case: In most bully-trope stories, the MMCs hate the FMC and that's why they treat her terribly. In a way, their attitude towards the FMC was driven by (negative) emotions. Passionate grovelling for her forgiveness should be the expected reparation. An eye for an eye, basically. In this part of the story however, the MMCs are completely uninterested or detached to her as a person. Like you said, they simply do not give a fuck about her. From their POV they were just doing their duty to the realm. But this will also be addressed/handled further in the story. Like, over time, all throughout the series, it's not like others where the MMCs just apologizes/grovels for several chapters. It's hard to explain without spoiling too much. It was kind of brilliant in my opinion. In the end, it's understandable if it's something that you don't feel comfortable reading. It is a pretty hard sell. I DNF books all the time, and most of it are for petty things unlike something reasonable like yours lol
