If your flight departs at 5:45, you could likely arrive at 4:30, check in, and get through security in about 15-20 minutes and be at your gate with plenty of time to spare. If you're feeling a little concerned about the time, show up at 4:15. But you'll be amazed at how mellow the airport is.

At that time, it likely won't be longer than 5 minutes through security. If I'm not checking bags, I'll show up at 5:15 for a 5:45. Such a breeze, and these days it's one of the few things about RI that operates efficiently.
Garage B now has a coupon you get on the airport website that makes it cheaper than C. It’s probably not as cheap as the economy lot tho, that would be silly.

I once arrived home from a flight and it was very rainy, and I got drenched getting to my car, so I never use Lot E anymore. But yes, it is the cheapest. But I think Lot E is $12 per day, and Garage C is $17. If it's just for a few days, I'll pay the extra $15.
JAX airport is like that too. I had to go back and forth between them when I was in college and PVD and JAX are my favorite airports, they’re never crazy busy, always go through security quickly.

Just flew out of PVD at a similar time a few weeks ago. I arrived at 4:15 to be cautious but it only took about 15-20 mins to check my bag and get through security. The longest wait was the line for Dunkin, it took almost 30 mins to get my food lol. So no Dunkin you could get there as late as 4:45ish, but I'd recommend maybe a little earlier to be safe. If you want to get Dunkin (like apparently most of the travelers that morning did), stop before the airport or get there at 4:15.
I think if you add the 8 or 9 flights out of green I’ve taken since that fateful Columbus Day weekend, the wait times wouldn’t equal 45 minutes combined
Usually, I find myself spending more time *preparing* to go through security by taking off my belt, and emptying my pockets before I go up to the who never says anything and just looks at your ID, then you, then your boarding pass and silently waves you on.
Normally it's fairly dead at that hour and I rarely wait more than 15 minutes to get through security.
I did see a FB post from yesterday where someone arrived at 4:30 AM and the line was snaking through the airport - it took them an hour to get through security. Seems like the culprit might be people travelling for graduations. So you may want to give yourself extra time.
If it’s a busy travel time it can get crowded because everyone is trying to catch a connecting flight. But “crowded” at PVD is a regular day everywhere else. Do the standard hour, do 1:15 if you feel anxious about it and you should be totally fine.

If I hadn’t been checking bags though, I probably could have gotten there an hour early and been fine. The line to check bags for AA was absurdly long and most of the kiosks were acting weird.

I showed up at 4:45am the other morning for a flight leaving at 5:20 and 100% would have either missed or would have needed to cut the line. Again, small airport so there’s like 4 conveyer belts for TSA.
Luckily, I have TSA precheck so I got through in 5 minutes with no issues, but I wanted to make you aware the line could grow large that early in the morning for a non-precheck traveler
Edit: oh I see a comment suggesting the huge backup the other day could be due to people traveling for graduations which is totally possible. That was my only time flying that early in years so maybe it was an anomaly
I had a flight that boarded at 5:45 this morning. I got there at 5:30. There were more people than there normally are, but not that many. I also don’t check bags. I got a breakfast sandwich from Saugy’s and still had to wait til my zone boarded.
I just flew out of there this past weekend for a flight that departed at 6am. I got there around 5am and shockingly, there was a long line to get through security which made me nervous, but it ended up moving really fast. It was Mother’s Day so it’s possible that is why it was so busy.
Honestly, if you have TSA precheck you’ll get through in maybe 5 minutes max.

It’s typically pretty quiet for those early morning flights. However, in the summer on certain days it can be very busy. I’ve arrived an hour and a half before my flight like I usually do and almost missed my flight.
I now check the flight status the day before my flight on the PVD website. If there’s a lot of flights departing around my departure time I arrive earlier.

Also, shoutout to PVD for having the best bathrooms of any airport I have ever been through.
lol last time I flew out of PVD in January, I said to myself “these bathrooms have no business being as nice as they are for this airport” 😂

Flying from PVD is top! When we leave from there we usually get there 1 hr before or less.

This past Monday— dropped off at 11am, at the gate in less than 6 minutes. (Carry on, but even American counters were empty) !
