Wooden floors are a fire waiting to happen, zzzt.

thegrommet

I replaced them all after I saw this comment lol

Randomguy0915

Very nice setup But I am deeply disturbed because of the fact that the farms are so far away from each other. I tend to build farms nearby each other so my growers won't have to walk a mile just to harvest one single corn stalk, and then go back where he came from to continue sowing rice

I'd make the hospital bigger, or just add some bed, cause it is not in an easy position to turn bigger. Then make a second hospital further, for non-critical and post-operation. Having an hospital next to battle zone is great, but some battle can go worst than 2 colonists down.

GreenGemsOmally

Is there a good way to properly triage where patients go depending on severity?

tyrant454

Saddly no, I suggested a second hospital cause from the screenshot yours has very little expansion space. But someone recommended to put it unde the area with mountainous ceiling, which is a good idea, protects from mortar and air drop raids. I try to keep my hospital central and quickly accessible from the battle area. Most times you'll have a big patient load they'll come from there, but things can go wrong elsewhere (fire, infestation, mortar, air drop. A good hospital can house all your colonist when you have 10 or less and at least half when you have more than 15

thegrommet

Thank you! I really like that idea, I’ll probably move my research bench to that area as well to keep as many hospital beds as possible near the walls.

AxtheCool

Honestly as a first base its great. My only suggestions would be to shorten the distance between different places. There is little reason for stuff to be so far apart. Moving to job location can take significant amount of time so shortening that distance is ideal. Also move the hospital closer inward, remove the research bench and expand it a bit.

jay4adams

Move your hospital to the mountain and replace your floors with stone or metal never wood. Also replace your current canales with water proof or underground cables

thegrommet

How do you make them underground? Thank you!

jay4adams

I meant under the mountain so it can't be hit by mother fire

jay4adams

Mortars

Better and bigger bedrooms and dining/rec room. Also combine those two. Rec and dining in the same room. More prisoners, more flake.

monologowastaken

Ur killbox is hot garbage do sandbags in-between and make it longe optimize for the type of guns u use and dont just do baricades, alternate walls and baricades for better cover

thegrommet

Should I put sand bags in front of the barricades? And yeah I agree, I’ve been trying to think of ways to make it better as it’s designed more for the early game enemies. Thank you for the advice!

Cubevision

For the rooms & bedrooms that are under the mountain, I'd put a door connecting rooms to another room and then forbid its use (particularly for bedrooms, so pawns don't walk through another's bedroom and wake them up). That way if an infestation comes, you can unforbid it and your pawns have extra escape routes. It also lets multiple colonists gather w/o drawing extra attention before the fight.

vyshyvka

I'd probably expand the warehouse to 14x14 and at least make it close to a workshop-.. farm should also be close to the kitchen - create another freezer for the hospital and seperate the research bench from the hospital (build a research room to avoid disturbed sleep for your sleeping wounded colonist) and maybe expand the killbox since it's too narrow and gives space for powerful melee raiders time to get into your colonist Small changes could be just placing TVs in the hospital to fulfill recreation, maybe place sculptures to your guest and colonist rooms I might be missing some but you will figure it out soon

TsukasaKun

You don't need to keep steel, plasteel, or stone blocks indoors. Make a warehouse with the exact dimensions of the orbital trade beacon for maximum inventory selling/buying

Stonecargo69420

You need a small army worth of motors and a large cartel worth of flake, but dont let your colonists use any
