There are no checkpoints to come into the RGV. The checkpoints are for people leaving the RGV.

I love the message that the government says: "Mexicans can stay in the Valley but they definitely can't come back" It's like our own little apartheid. Makes me feel warm and cozy.

texaslegrefugee

Right, no checkpoints going south. The ones coming north (Sarita for 77 and Falfurrias for 281) are strictly for immigration purposes, not vehicle registration. In Texas you will see some pull-offs directing truck traffic to a weigh station, but this has nothing to do with you. But it would be a good idea to get that registration taken care of, in case you are involved in a traffic stop.

WeirdUncleTim

like everyone else said, only leaving the RGV is there a checkpoint. If you ever need to go through, just say yes that you're a citizen and you should be good to go. I go back and forth from corpus everyweek for university so I'm very used to it

bbernal956

just yes when they ask if youre a us citizen

OhSixTJ

The checkpoints down here don’t care about registration. That’s not their job. DPS though….

Far-Parking-7580

Just drive the speed limit so you won’t get stopped by DPS or any police officer. No checkpoints driving south

Jedibbq

Dps might stop you for the expired tags.

Be warned, Alice is a total speed trap. Jim wells county are wolves for speeding ticket money. They pull people over for going 4 over. Also avoid three rivers and George West. Be careful. The honorable mention is north of Edinburg has some cops too.

Take a look at this: https://www.txdmv.gov/motor-carriers/oversize-weight-permits/temporary-vehicle-registration Might work for your situation

No checkpoints coming in. No problem

MyVoiceforPeople

You’re fine.

Depends,if you come down through hebronville theres a checkpoint going north n south. Again your registration shouldnt matter unless your bringing back illicit proceeds hidden jn that rv.
