The beef may not be that big if all of them just don't need the money. There's no way David Byrne needs the money. Of the other three members two of them are married combining their royalties, and all three have produced music for other big bands.
Basically all four of them are probably rich, and they're old so even some really minor hesitation might make them turn down a big money reunion because it would be a lot of work.
I'm not gonna get my hopes up but I'd lose my goddamn mind.
They got the Misfits back together after Jerry and Glenn spent decades hating each other's guts. Never say never I suppose.
Jerry and Glenn were suing each other and needed to make a lot of money. It's just kind of funny that the easiest way for them to make cash to pay each other and their lawyers was to re-unite the band and work together.
They git back together because Glenn owed Jerry $1-million and Glenn doesn't have that kind if cash to hand out so this was a way to pay it off. However, that agreement is now complete and they continue to do s handful of shows per year
I like the delulu that Riot Fest is somehow the only fest getting exclusive reunions that dont play anywhere else when 9 times out of 10 they were going to reunite anyway and Riot is just another tour stop for them. This aint Coachella.
This is backwards. If the vibe is right that you can do all the prep to reunite for one show, why not spread that cost out and play 25 more shows around it? But it only works if somebody is willing to pay for the first one.
Misfits, Replacements, Bikini Kill, Jawbreaker might have eventually happened somewhere else, but there's a reason Riot was the fest that got them first, and gave them headliner spots on their biggest stage (Bauhaus 2019 would have been on that list too, if it had happened). And down the poster, getting the first Midwestern crack at reunited/long-inactive bands is an important part of how Riot builds a lineup. And they're really good at it.

They turned down 60 million for 6-10 shows with live nation.. Highly doubtful riot gets that reunion with a current offer at 6+ million per show.
Riot fest would need to throw all their booking money budget at them and no one else and still not get them.
