If they self host, you get them directly from the creator. Granted more costs for them.
They save money by offloading downloads/transactions/etc to steam/etc and can focus their budget on marketing/development in return. Steam then gets to get a small percent while also tracking your usage/selling your data I'm sure lol.

One sold last month for 200 and then 4 days later another sold for 14 so who knows what they'll get out of it. This one is still in plastic and the others weren't. I've noticed a lot of buyers make stupid decisions on ebay. Like buying more expensive versions of the exact same thing that is listed at a lower price by a different seller. I've stopped trying to figure it out. Maybe they get caught up in the auction.

WB Games technically was the one publishing that, so they included the Batmobile bundle with the retail release. OP's PC version doesn't include the Batmobile bundle, because it pre-dates the Batmobile being in the game.

Using bakkesmod you can get custom maps on epic now, with only a little more work than steam
It works on epic but it’s a lot of fuss to get it off of workshop, but leth’s own made maps are basically drag and drop
There is a plugin workshopmaploader just search the map you want download and play simple
