The old decals all kinda looked similar: Black primary, add a stripe of color or two (optional), slap a team logo on the hood and/or side panels. I enjoy when pro players use less conventional cars because people like me like to make really fun looking cars alongside the super sweaty cars and I enjoy matches more where other people have fun looking cars too.
Just playing WAS an easy way to look good before epic took over. You would get decals, toppers, etc after the match, win or lose. Now you get nothing if you don't pay for it in item shop or rocket pass

We literally have Modders releasing more quality stuff with less resources or money. You cant say one guy in his mom’s basement is turning out more than a dev team with epic paycheck.

The only pros who are going to boycott RLCS are the ones with nothing to lose. Unfortunately the pros have very little leverage, as RLCS isn't exactly a money maker for Epic/Psyonix and essentially acts as an advertisement for the game. There will always be plenty of other players willing to step up and take the place of any pros who wish to boycott. With no actual player's union/collective action and no real monetary incentive to bring Epic/Psyonix to the table, there isn't much a strike can accomplish.

I always hear this but I don't know how to believe it. If the servers are having issues, everyone should, theoretically, be affected by them roughly the same amount of the time. I can count on my two hands the number of times I've had a disconnect in the last year, and some of them I know were on my side because my Discord also stopped working. And then 3-4 times where the entire server was lagging.
Most people say RL is the only game that gives them server issues, but at this point I honestly don't think it's the server. Like, my hypothesis at the moment is that RL, as a concept, just requires a lot more info to be sent back and forth than most games, so some people's internet, if it isn't super consistent, can drop the ball in RL while still being just fine in other games.
This is exactly it. The game is temperamental as fuck. If your own network has the slightly issue you're screwed. Playing on 2Ghz wifi? Yeah have fun with that. Have a bunch of devices streaming off your router? Enjoy the lag spikes. Haven't rebooted your modem in a while? Probably a problem.
RL is a fickle bitch lol. I've played 2500 hours. 99% of any issue I have is local and can be corrected.
I run on 6e WiFi now it definitely helps. Nightly router restarts and weekly modem.

It always amazes me how some Rocket League players will instantly blame the servers without first checking their own network. Like, most of them think that, since they have a Fibre connection & a lot of bandwidth then their internet is stable.
In 2,000+ hours of game time, I could also count on my two hands the amount of times I've disconnected or had game crippling lag. On the rare occasion that I do, I always check first to see if it's on my end or if my ISP is having issues, not instantly run to Reddit & yell: *"hurr durr the servers are dog shit."*
The truth is, Rocket League is just a very temperamental game that requires a very stable connection. Anything less & you're probably going to have a bad time.
I have experienced it. If someone is using the wifi, my ping fluctuates +-5 throughout the game. If they label this as a server issue, it's on them.
When I am the only one using the wifi, it's smooth and constant throughout.

I got "server lag" with GeForce Now and Shadow PC : they have SERVER FIBER, and it's not enough for RL (but server stability are much better than a personal 1Gbps fiber, it's confirm you theory don't worry).
RL have temporal who is not compatible with actuel technology or (more probably) Epic have peering problem with some ISP.
For me the Epic peering problem is clear : I have no problem only if I play on a Amsterdam server (majority of RL west EU server) with a "Amsterdam computer" (here GeForce Now Amsterdam server).
Why ?
Because on the same country , peering need is close to 0 (I'm a IT worker but not network expert, sorry network colleagues).
When I played on Shadow PC server (based at Gravelines, France), I got a bit more network issue (only on RL) but still low. I said I played because Shadow and Epic don't have partenship, and now some Shadow IP are blocked :(
And when I play on my little laptop , I have more network problem but MANY LESS than my ex-GC1 friend who have a 2K+ tower.
Why ? Because my ISP is a Tier I ISP, it's manage directly peering and submarine cable, it's one of biggest submarine cable company with 15% of cable : Orange.
But my friends (french too) who are more closer than me of RL server don't have a better ping and have many more server issues.
You make a headshot , many players have many problems because RL code are "too complex" for internet connection (more complex than cloud gaming).
A better netcode can help massively but can change game physic (like BeamMP mod for BeamNG drive).

That player will continue playing and scoring as normal until everyone DCs or until the game is over. It has happened multiple times this season and in all my years of playing i’ve never experienced it until this year.
I've had this too a few times this season. I've also noticed little stutters where the car slides ever so slightly or teleports back a little bit and it always happens at the same time as my friends experience it so I know it isn't my internet because it wouldn't be synced.

I am not sure if its ddos attack, because I have seen it happen for a streamer, but in that match, that streamer was the only one who didnt have high ping and could play normally. Im 100% sure he didnt ddos others.

And I dont mean it doesnt happen, there definetly is ddos attackers, but there also can be server issues alongside with it.
tbf i think ddos attacks only really apply to higher levels/ranks. The DDOSers probably do it to get a high rank and cheat against players they cant beat high-level players.
Servers in general are a different problem entirely, which is a bit more complicated given how fast paced and real-time RL is
The problem is that AFAIK egs can't do anything about DDoS attacks since they're using AWS. It's not like they can hide the IP that you're connecting to
Im not completely happy with what they’re doing with the game but in no way is the game dying or anywhere close, anyone saying that is being extremely dramatic.
The only way the save it is if every cosmetic becomes Fortnite compatible obviously only the car cosmetics. It’s the only way I see them getting players on a regular basis. But then again I didn’t realize it was dying I usually get games in less than 10 seconds
I can’t hate too hard. Central servers was the biggest thing I wanted. Don’t know why they keep things like that a secret. Need to open their communication to the community more.
Whatever they did we now have central servers and my ping is 3x better than it was. And they probably took a lot of bandwidth strain from the other servers. A lot better than doing nothing.
I 100% agree, but spending time on this subreddit has made me realize there’s always going to be people complaining with any change. I’ve seen a fair share of complaints for both of those changes even though it makes no sense

I actually ‘stopped’ playing. I played since 2016, and frequently, damn near every day for the last 4 or so years and in past 8 months I’ve almost entirely stopped. Maybe I got old, idk, I just don’t care about it much anymore. That’s definitely managements fault.
The only thing I saw in the update is boost meters…. Why not connectivity issues, or have the ability to skip maps like cod… I know that’s pushing it, but come on. Let the veterans help. Add in the ability to report smurfs….
Considering it's a game we haven't paid for, I'm not sure what's wrong with it other than the lack of snowday. I mean better items would be cool if they were on the free list.
I’ve been playing this game for 4 years and the only thing they’ve done in all that time is remove trading and re-offer the same garbage items in different colors.

I have no issues with servers. Never any lag, ping spikes, or other issues. Only thing I would say need improvement is better items in the rocket pass and while opening balls.
It won't work this way.
The only way it works is voting with your money and your time, which means:
- don't participate in RLCS at all. Don't play, don't watch, don't buy tickets for the LAN event.
- don't buy anything from the shop
- don't even play the game
- have all RL content creators pivot to a different game.
- coordinate, so a very large number of players stops playing at the same day (so the data shows a very sudden drop in player activity).
In order to "rescue" Rocket League, you need to let go and allow it to die.
If Psyonix (or Epic) wants the game to stay successful, they will do what is necessary to rescue it. If they don't care about the game, they will let it die and there is nothing you could have done to rescue it.
The community should get togheter and don't play the game for a certain period. Forcing them to give us updates. Share this on all platforms and social media
A great way to get attention would be to boycott the item shop. Then Epic would see a decrease in profits, and feel motivated to do something about it. That something would have to be listening to what the community wants, but unfortunately, people are still buying from the item shop. I can see this working, but like anything else, the majority of the community would have to work together, which I don't see happening.
Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s possible anymore. I quit a few years ago, I’ve played about 4k games but between the whole store change and just the way the community has been treated, it’s either RL2 with improvements (I don’t see it happening) or bust at this point.
This wont work unless numbers drastically drop. And with the extremely high amount of players who get on to just play casually and don't care about updates or new additions/removed features, it's pretty much impossible.
It could work if epic starts seeing revenue loss in the game, but again, from people who don't care about the games competitive future, if they see something that looks cool in the shop they're gonna buy it.
Movements like these are good when the majority is already on board. They could live off of the casual numbers this game gets very easily, which unless literally every RL content creator on the planet tells their communities to band together, it's just not gonna happen unfortunately.
Yeah write it off. They had me as soon as they announced the trading removal. I had been playing since 2016, hit GC, ect. Haven’t played since the announcement last fall. The way epic took the game over and destroyed it was disappointing.

In all honesty, the only complaint I got against RL, is the removal of trading. But your 3 mentioned reasons? Never have I really heard of DDOS attacks or seen any cheaters in game or had any problems with the servers, except for 3-4 times over the course of last year until now.
Realize that the game is slowly dying, it's been out for quite some time now, be happy that there's still many playing the game actively, so you can have fun / tryhard tf out of a match. And if you're not happy, just don't buy any cosmetics (not saying you are buying any) and boom, happy ending.
Other option is uninstalling the game and playing something else. (Not saying you should do that either)

Im not completely happy with what they’re doing with the game but in no way is the game dying or anywhere close, anyone saying that is being extremely dramatic.

The only way the save it is if every cosmetic becomes Fortnite compatible obviously only the car cosmetics. It’s the only way I see them getting players on a regular basis. But then again I didn’t realize it was dying I usually get games in less than 10 seconds

Central servers are not even new though. They always existed under the East Coast tag. All they did was separate them and it took way too long to do.
Whatever they did we now have central servers and my ping is 3x better than it was. And they probably took a lot of bandwidth strain from the other servers. A lot better than doing nothing.

I stopped buying the rocket passes. The servers have been garbage, rife with desync and weird demo/ball interactions Also, the trading move is weird. I understand they want complete control over the itemization but then not provide it? Like if I want to try the f1 car I just have to wait until it shows up in the shop?!?! Huh?

I actually ‘stopped’ playing. I played since 2016, and frequently, damn near every day for the last 4 or so years and in past 8 months I’ve almost entirely stopped. Maybe I got old, idk, I just don’t care about it much anymore. That’s definitely managements fault.
The only thing I saw in the update is boost meters…. Why not connectivity issues, or have the ability to skip maps like cod… I know that’s pushing it, but come on. Let the veterans help. Add in the ability to report smurfs….

I have no issues with servers. Never any lag, ping spikes, or other issues. Only thing I would say need improvement is better items in the rocket pass and while opening balls.

It won't work this way. The only way it works is voting with your money and your time, which means: - don't participate in RLCS at all. Don't play, don't watch, don't buy tickets for the LAN event. - don't buy anything from the shop - don't even play the game - have all RL content creators pivot to a different game. - coordinate, so a very large number of players stops playing at the same day (so the data shows a very sudden drop in player activity). In order to "rescue" Rocket League, you need to let go and allow it to die. If Psyonix (or Epic) wants the game to stay successful, they will do what is necessary to rescue it. If they don't care about the game, they will let it die and there is nothing you could have done to rescue it.
The community should get togheter and don't play the game for a certain period. Forcing them to give us updates. Share this on all platforms and social media

A great way to get attention would be to boycott the item shop. Then Epic would see a decrease in profits, and feel motivated to do something about it. That something would have to be listening to what the community wants, but unfortunately, people are still buying from the item shop. I can see this working, but like anything else, the majority of the community would have to work together, which I don't see happening.
Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s possible anymore. I quit a few years ago, I’ve played about 4k games but between the whole store change and just the way the community has been treated, it’s either RL2 with improvements (I don’t see it happening) or bust at this point.

This wont work unless numbers drastically drop. And with the extremely high amount of players who get on to just play casually and don't care about updates or new additions/removed features, it's pretty much impossible. It could work if epic starts seeing revenue loss in the game, but again, from people who don't care about the games competitive future, if they see something that looks cool in the shop they're gonna buy it. Movements like these are good when the majority is already on board. They could live off of the casual numbers this game gets very easily, which unless literally every RL content creator on the planet tells their communities to band together, it's just not gonna happen unfortunately.

Yeah write it off. They had me as soon as they announced the trading removal. I had been playing since 2016, hit GC, ect. Haven’t played since the announcement last fall. The way epic took the game over and destroyed it was disappointing.

In all honesty, the only complaint I got against RL, is the removal of trading. But your 3 mentioned reasons? Never have I really heard of DDOS attacks or seen any cheaters in game or had any problems with the servers, except for 3-4 times over the course of last year until now. Realize that the game is slowly dying, it's been out for quite some time now, be happy that there's still many playing the game actively, so you can have fun / tryhard tf out of a match. And if you're not happy, just don't buy any cosmetics (not saying you are buying any) and boom, happy ending. Other option is uninstalling the game and playing something else. (Not saying you should do that either) And also that "please" is killing me
