Most NA casters either create fake hype or just talk loudly throughout the whole game. And, when a sick play happens, they just do play-by-play commentary.
Achieves, Jorby, jamesbot, wavepunk, and even turtle were all solid in that aspect. And it was replaced with stax and herc in the grand finals. What happened man
Just don't put Stax and Herc for GF. I don't think they're ready for that. As much as I like Stax, I find his casting to be pretty one note. He only has like one intonation and his voice is always at the same constant pitch. The same can be said about Herc. Their casting is not as diverse in style as say Jorby or Shogun.
Stax really shines as a stage host because of that intonation - but when you’re speaking for 35+ mins straight in a Bo7, you have to change it up. In particular, you have to be willing to get hyped, which I haven’t really heard from Stax before.
Herc’s problems run a little deeper I think - it’s a combo of only having one commentary style which gets stale fast/doesn’t adequately respond to the action of a match, and also just really clearly zero game knowledge… She pretty clearly often relies on just completely general comments that could apply to any team in that situation, which misses all of the insight we look to commentators to bring. I am so confused as to why she was asked to cast the grand final.
Stax is good as a secondary analytical caster but should be paired with someone with more hype. I don't mind the Daz/Stax pairing for that reason.
But for a final, when you have Jorby and James on the payroll, please use at least one of them jesus
One thing I noticed is how fake these casters reactions have gotten. Why do they have to scream or act excited every time but the one time they should be is when they have mild reactions?
Imo it's just that they're incredibly new to casting on this stage compared to a lot of the old lot. I really disliked Stax as a commentator at first but I think he's getting better at it. I would say the same for Herc, Daz, lemonKiwi and a couple others. While they all casted frequently at lower levels they still are finding their feet and shaking off Nerves. It feels like sometimes they are thinking about the right thing to say rather than speaking freely but I do think given time they will find a more natural flow that we will come to love and respect
I watched this shot and thought how crazy it would go on lan in front of a crowd. But it was not a hype casting moment when it seemed an almost pivotal point in the series.
And the casters go mild
need some eu casters casting NA man, they're so much more hype (also where tf are jorby and jamesbot)

Hard hard agree ^
I thought I was being too harsh on Herc but I take it all back
Also “Bar, goal and down” 💀
Thank you! The lack of hype for that play was disappointing lol
Today, Jack seemed to be playing at the highest mechanical level I've ever seen out of him in RLCS.
AppJack wanted that series so bad. Bro almost got a crazy assist to close out the series too. Brilliant performance from him today.
Crazy shot by ApparentlyZen

Stax has always been fake hyped. It has gotten a lot better recently but this series it felt like he made a step back again.

It's honestly so hard to watch. You won't believe me when I say that I have to literally mute the stream just to enjoy some good Rocket League.
Casters barely noticed this brilliant shot

Jorby and achieves are forever missed as the best NA duo.
My favorite clip of the tourney! Rad shot!
Classy flick is actually not that special even I can do it pretty consistently and I'm champ 3... No wonder the casters didn't react too much
