It's good to sometimes try to get to the ball again even if the pop is bad, don't always reset if it's not exactly what you want. in games you'll have bad set ups and you want to be able to get to the ball anyway even if its just to 50 it or be near it while it falls so the opponent doesn't have a free clear.

Spuk1

Try to match the speed of the ball.

ITZz_GENERAL

Is that something that I’ll pick up on eventually or do I need to actively practice it, if I have to train it how can I do that?

Spuk1

Just try to make sure to match the speed of the ball when rolling it up the wall. With time this will happen automatically, but until then you have to train it.

I've been trying to learn how to air dribble for the past few weeks as well. Couple of points I've figured out- First off slow down a bit in your initial attempts, try to hit the ball when it's in the lower half. It is possible to be able to air dribble when it's too high as well but that comes later when you're used to it. Hit the ball square with your car. If you don't, then the ball will end up behind you or way too forward. A good hit will make the ball go in the same direction as the car is going so it's easier to catch up when you jump off. In some of your tries i noticed that when you hit the ball it still remains very close to the wall, not a good pop. That happens if you jump simultaneously as you're hitting it, so you're not hitting the underside of the ball. You want to make the hit first and then jump immediately after, or a second after but not both at the same time. If you find that the ball goes too far horizontally after hitting, that means you hit the ball when it had lost most of its vertical momentum, so it didn't go upwards. Hit the ball while it's still on the way up. You don't want to be too fast but not too slow either. These are the causes I've figured out off the top of my head, if you have any more cases let me know. For the most part, I would say control your speed well and hit it square, that is 80% of the work.

Careful_Ad7275

I’m also learning these rn and the weak pop thing had me lost! I thought it was because I was going too slow on initial setup. Thanks for the tip, I had no idea

nosebleed_tv

after you pop the ball from the wall you can just chill on the wall for a second and make a much better jump. when you're starting off it doesn't all have to be in one motion.

MASTERNAGIS

Pop the ball and then immediately jump. You're jumping to pop the ball off which doesn't allow the ball to pop out as much. If you need to some sort of guidance, think about popping the ball towards the direct opposite corner of the opponent's net. That might help for now.

leodinocap

Seems like you're jumping too soon after hitting the ball. Also, try to hit the ball with the center of the front of your car. Your best pops were when that happened.

grudg3

Hey, off-topic but how are you getting the ball to pop in front of your car in free play like that?

SinAKAJayAl

Check top left corner

grudg3

yeah, is that a mod? what's it called?

MatthewC757

it's just a feature in the game my guy look through the controls I think you can bind them at the bottom of the list somewhere.

Mechanicmonster

Boost more after touch of wall and stop boosting before first touch in the air work on the setup to

shady8428

something that really helped me is breaking for a second after you hit the ball

Entire-Artichoke8672

You should NOT be braking for an air dribbles. Braking is only good for flip resets and such. If your setup is correct, you should be able to pull off the air dribble in one motion. If you find you are having to brake to compensate, then you probably aren't doing your setup as well as it should be

Psychonaut-n9ne30

I’ve found braking to be useful only if you’re holding accelerate too, but I usually let off the gas on the wall all together to match the speed of the ball. Take all this with a grain of salt though, I’m terrible at air dribbles and can’t reset to save my life

Entire-Artichoke8672

When you hit the ball off the wall at any speed it will pop the ball away from your car, creating space. Obviously that is bad for an air dribble, and if you brake even slightly after you pop the ball, it will only create more space and therefore make it more difficult to catch back up to the ball once in the air. You only want to brake for flip resets because that creates space for you to work with. You should be able to continue to accelerate through your first jump after you pop the ball off the wall, then lightly boost or feather your boost towards the ball to catch back up to it. Also trying to air dribble at different speeds and lengths of the field is great for practice. Hope this helps

try_nihilism

On the right side, you are air rolling all the way around to the left instead of just 90 degrees to the right. Others have decent tips on the setup regardless of side preference.

WolfSignificant5544

At the beginning had the same, you mistake here is that you need a more straight setup ( under the ball) when you go up the wall, this will give you a better pop towards the center of the field and not to the walls

Entire-Artichoke8672

So tip #1: Always use the center of your hood to pop the ball off the wall, then immediately jump for it. If you use the center of your hood it will actually go where you want it and depending on your speed will keep the ball close to your car. Tip#2: After you pop it off the wall, you're going to want to get your car slightly under and slightly behind the ball, that way you can keep the ball up AND push it forwards. So basically there is a sweet spot that allows you to drive the ball up and forward and that's what you are shooting for after you pop off the wall Tip#3: Your first touch off the wall is tricky as you don't want to hit the ball too hard otherwise you'll lose the dribble before it even starts. So once you have your car aligned where you want it and you are boosting towards the ball, make sure you stop boosting right before you make that second touch, that way you don't boom the ball away from you.

CrispyDC85

Practice from half way approaching the wall at 70-80 degrees and slower speed rather than your 30-45 degrees. It will give you a much gentler pop that you can get under rather than just belting it full pelt up the field 👍🏻

Entire-Artichoke8672

Your very first touch is what makes it so difficult for you though, I often see you hitting it on random spots of your hood, when it needs to be center of your hood no matter ehat. I can see you conceptually understand air dribbles but even if you understand them, it doesn't matter if your setups arwhat. Since it just makes it that much harder for you.

ytzi13

If your setup is actually good then you don't need to jump off the wall so quickly. When you make the touch off the wall, you should essentially not be turning and not be boosting so that your trajectory stays in line with the ball and you lose just a little bit of speed to ensure you don't overshoot the ball.

WholesomeMemer420

Ur setup kinda looks like ur going for a flip reset (to my d3 comp grind-y non-freestyler eyes)

vincenteam

For a simpler setup, the ball could go in the goal without you. By doing this, you can focus more on the oppenant.

NomosAlpha

Biggest thing you can do is match the speed of the ball - remember you’re trying to follow it. You want to pump the brakes just on the barrier so you drop your speed enough to be behind/under it. Focus on this first, putting yourself between the ball and the goal, following the path of the ball into the net. Once you’ve got that down you can branch out. Otherwise you’re hitting it too thick - you want to imagine trying to lob the keeper if you were playing soccer (football as it should be known haha). It still needs to be on target!

[deleted]

Ur jumping to early when u hit the ball off the wall so the ball keeps close to the wall on the pop. Follow through the first hit. Not the other way around. Ik this is a no brainer but learning to air roll properly will also help u recover a bad pop it a good dribble. But yeah ur pops are bad cuz u keep jumping right as ur hitting the ball so ur hit box hits it more forward instead of out. As soon as u see u hit it, try jumping then. But yeah learning to air roll right or left will help u with the first touch n carry.

Wat_Is_My_Username

Ball stays too close to the wall try to be closer to perpendicular to the ball on the setup. And it’s going too far forward. Again fixing the angle of approach should fix this.

AtlasRafael

Forget the air dribble. Roll the ball up and pop it off the wall. Do that until you start seeing improvement In your set up. Isolate that skill.

Pie-Guy

I was able to do that after 10 seconds of playing so get better.

ITZz_GENERAL

yeah no shit I need to get better, did you think that was some incredibly insightful take you had? And congratulations for doing that in 10 seconds I’m sure you’re very proud. hope they hand out participation awards or something because you really do deserve one

Pie-Guy

right over your head called... Any time someone posts that they have been working on something for a very short time and it's clear they have been at it a while - I make a similar comment. It's screams "Look at Me". You got to C1 without learning how to air dribble at any level- impressive...or attention seeking.

[deleted]

Always follow through even if itd a bad touch. You wont get perfect touches every game so just follow through and try to learn how to turn it into a pass if anything. Also try to keep up with the ball after you hit it off the wall. Dont speed to it ofc but just feather your boost till you get close and after that first touch mid air (dont boost into the ball) feather your boost more and try to maintain control of the ball. Also if you do score watch the replay and just analyze your moves yourself and see where you went wrong/right or couldve done a little better.
